I've never posted a bad review before, but I feel as if this was completely an unfair experience to me. I asked for the hair in the third photo my stylist said she can do my hair that color but darker. I had told her that months ago I had my hair black box dyed and it was very very faded so that's why I thought it was fine to get my hair dyed again. When she told me darker I wasn't expecting it to be literally camouflaged into my hair. It's to the point where I can't even see the color one bit. Also in the photos of my hair that is me trying my absolute hardest to have it show up on camera, I had to take multiple photos just so I can see the glimpse of color in a photo. I think it's ridiculous that I can't even see the color at all and this was all for the price tag of 290 including tip. The only time you can even see the purple in my hair is in blinding direct sunlight. When i'm not in direct sunlight it looks completely black. She told me after the appointment about how I can come in 6 weeks for a retouch to do roots and color it more purple for the price of 125. I really don't think it's fair that i have to pay another 125 ontop of the 290 I paid to get the color I actually wanted. The stylist also told me that the color would look like the 4th photo's color. Which it doesn't. I then called the salon the next day asking for a redo since it was completely different than what I asked done. They then told me how I was told that my hair was going to be this way.... and that she told me to come in for a retouch so they said they're not going to redo my hair for free the way I asked the first time... They said how a manager decided that the employee was correct and I was in the wrong over the phone when she didn't even see my hair at all, which i think would be important in the decision making to actually witness what my hair looks like.. They as well told me that they "care" about my hair health and that they aren't going to do my hair again to get it to the color I asked for the first time. They didn't care so much about my hair health when I was handing them the money to do it though. They as well told me over the phone how the stylist showed me a photo of how my hair would look and yes she did that is what the 4th photo is,, and as you can see my hair looks a completely different color Don't go here if you want vibrant color. After my experience yesterday, I'm having a hard time imagining why someone would go anywhere else! I mean, the customer service when booking over the phone was an absolute pleasure. I was told how the pricing structure works and what each level of stylist meant. They also suggested what level stylist might be good for me according to my wants and needs. Upon entering, there's an immediate zen vibe with exotic decor and a essential oils wafting through the air. I was offered a drink and couldn't turn down a cup of herbal tea. My stylist, Felicia, made me feel really comfortable and consulted with me about my hair struggles, texture, and what I was looking for in a cut. She led me to the backbar where they have the coolest shampoo bowl that is ergonomic for your head. She explained that she was mismatching haircare products to make sure all of my hair concerns were addressed. What really impressed me was an amazing head and neck massage using peppermint oils and a steaming hot towel. Wow! I love my haircut and how honest Felicia was with me about my goals and what was actually possible. I also REALLY appreciate that I didn't feel like I HAD to buy anything. No one is pushy here and I think a lot of people like that approach. I may actually get the recommended haircut every 3 months now that I know it will be such a relaxing experience. read more

I got a haircut here and loved it when I left and once washed it is kind of the scariest thing I have ever seen :-( I have short pieces cut an inch or two from my head (I have long layers and long hair) it's makes me cringe looking in the mirror! My goodness I loved the stylist super sweet and apparently experienced but she really did such a horrendous erratic cut in the back with no pieces that were consistently texturized only chunks of REALLY short areas and then huge areas with no thinning at all making it look like I have four different haircuts depending on which angles you see me at Update to my review months later: I still have 3 inch tufts of hair that have not grown in from basically being sheared only in the back of my head (mind you I am an experienced stylist and know what should and shouldn't happen with a haircut and have pretty thick hair so a minor slip up can normally be hidden). This cut has caused me to be battling dreads in the back of my hair since before the holidays. Every time I see the short pieces I honestly cringe. I contacted the salon owner only to be told that "He prayed I find 'help'" after expressing my frustration and asking for a refund from my 75.00 haircut. I am beside myself, this experience was/is disgusting and apparently the salon owner has no business being in this industry. read more

Fingers crossed but I'm scared to go back. Update......the manager was very nice and the woman who tried to fix my hair. She made it not look so blunt and tried to make it look better. So glad I found a new salon after being in limbo for so long. I was looking for a professional staff that could work with two years of Covid at home mistakes. Tristan is my new stylist and on our first appointment he got the damaged hair back to a "begin again" point from which to get the hair healthy. Our second appointment got me back to the color I love, very natural blonde. He took his time with the many foils and really got the color just perfect. So thankful for that! I called Whole Aveda - Oldsmar to make an appointment for a color service and cut. I forget the man's name, but he was great! I was not rushed, I explained to him it was my first time at Aveda. We went over everything and he got me booked fairly quickly with a date/time that I was looking for. Upon arrival, Aaren got me signed in and Cheyenne (my colorist) took me back right away and had the best conversation with me about what I wanted, etc. She listened and executed EXACTLY to what I was looking for. A gem! She is an absolute GEM! I then saw Sonija (my stylist) who did my cut and blow out. Again, she listened and completely executed. My hair falls beautifully and looks excellent! I have to say, I'm in the industry where we constantly evaluate the customer experience and what I experienced from Aaren, Cheyenne, and Sonija was TOP NOTCH! I've been seeing Melany B. at Whole Aveda in Oldsmar for over a year now. I'm warmly greeted by the reception staff when entering the salon which is big but also warm and cozy. Melany always takes time to discuss what we should do on each visit and makes sure I'm comfortable while she mixes my formula. I have very bright rich, red color and my hair looks so beautiful and natural every time; I get so many compliments. Melany makes sure I have tea and am relaxing while processing. Melany always gives me a nice scalp massage at the shampoo bowl and I love the botanical treatments which make my hair soft and smell great. They offer hand massages while you wait for the treatment to process so you can relax at the shampoo chair which are some of the most comfortable I've been in. Melany does a beautiful blow out for me each visit which lasts several days. It allows me to see the vibrant color and enjoy smooth, soft hair which is a nice change for me as a curly hair girl. She mentors newer stylists who are learning and they are always helpful and available if you need anything. Christian let me use his iPhone charger at my last visit (thank you again) and finished my style adding more products to protect from the humidity to extend my blow out. It's a lovely salon, they have special events and sales all the time (for their Mother's Day event they had Mimosas...(I do wish they had wine all the time but the tea is amazing). The people are wonderful and make you feel special at every visit. AVEDA IS NOT KID FRIENDLY!!! Been coming to Whole for 7 years. 5 of which I had children with me. Today I went into get my eyebrows done and they receptionist asked if my kids were getting picked up?! Because I can't have them with me. For 5 years I have always had them with me during haircuts and waxing without a problem. The manager said it is because of insurance. I've been to this location twice before, though I will admit that I'm a fan of Aveda salons and products in general. My stylist, Ashley Ellen, used to be at the Countryside Mall location, but switched to the Oldsmar location late last year. Even though it's a bit more of a drive, I don't mind the switch to Oldsmar. This place is MUCH bigger than the mall spot, but definitely has a different theme going on. Still very much Aveda, but I like the wall colors and artwork here. It makes if feel very spa-like. I was told yesterday that the Countryside location will be closing and everyone will be relocating to Oldsmar, where they've expanded the space into the space next door (into where Bodega & Bottles used to be, I believe). As for service, I've never had an issue with canceling, making, or rescheduling appointments. In fact, this most recent trim was made only a week in advance. Ashley Ellen is fantastic! She listens to what I want, or what I'm thinking about, and gives suggestions without trying to sway me one way or the other. Her head massages during the shampoo are probably my favorite part. I love that they tell you which products they use on your hair during your service so that you have a good idea of how to recreate the style on your own, without guilting you into spending a bunch more money. Aveda isn't cheap, after all (but totally worth the price). Ashley is always really great about explaining to me what she's done with my hair and how to use each product. I always leave this place feeling like a million bucks, and isn't that point of a great visit to the salon? If you need a new style, don't hesitate to book with Ashley Ellen! Not really how you want to leave a salon with your hair looking... I've been to this location 3 times and 2 out of the 3 times I've left unhappy. When I go to the salon it's suppose to be a treat, I want to leave with my hair looking and feeling great, not having to go right home to fix it myself. My hair also felt horrible, which is unusual for me. My hair is usually pretty silky and smooth, but after my appointment it was hard, crunchy, staticky and just a mess.
