After I paid him upfront for the parts (didn't have an issue with that) on August 22, I was told he would have the parts by Tuesday the 9th of September (18 days after supposedly ordering them, but okay)... I texted him on Wednesday the 10th asking when I should expect him. He texted back said he had been sick and asked if Friday the 12th would work. Told him sure. Friday comes and he doesn't show. I text him back and no response. This continues through the ENTIRE following week with no response from him. He finally shows up on the 19th (nearly an entire month after we first agreed he would do the job). I paid him via CashApp for the labor and figured that was the end of the situation. When he left, I was happy, finally had some air conditioning in the truck. My happiness was short-lived, because by Monday it was back to blowing hot air (no freon). So of course, I texted him and finally Wednesday the 24th he said he would try to get to me by the weekend (26-27 September), of course that didn't happen. He texted me again on the 29th saying he would "try and make it today".... Finally on the 30th of September he made it back over to redo his work. Everything since then was fine until last Sunday, May the 17th. The AC started blowing hot air again (obviously the system has sprung another leak). I've attempted to contact him via text every day since then with absolutely no response. Oh, and for those of you wondering why I'm texting him instead of calling, he doesn't answer the phone and hasn't even bothered to set up a voicemail. If you have an AC issue, find someone else. I'm fed up with this nonsense. Thinking about small claims court, but at this point I just need some AC.

Update! Kevin contacted me, via text after reading the…read morereview, asking that I take the review down and allow him an opportunity to come back out and look at the vehicle, free of charge. Kevin shared that he was at risk of losing his job and was a lead tech, although listed as the owner. 'Management' also contacted and asked that I take the review down and offered to refund the labor. At this point (2 days later) I had already taken the vehicle to the Toyota dealer, as his 'management' advised the vehicle was complex and initially declined looking at the vehicle without another charge. Toyota Diagnosis: improper fitting and installed spark plugs. Cost: 98$ inspection- which was deducted from repair cost. Repair cost total, including one day vehicle rental, 468.79$. I reached back out to Kevin and 'Management', via text and email, three consecutive days- excluding Sunday, explaining the outcome and requesting a partial refund (spark plugs, diagnosis, and labor). I have not received a response and am now seeking civil action. Receipts attached. Again, the purpose of this review is to bring awareness.

I hired this mechanic to work on my truck and unfortunately my experience was extremely frustrating…read moreand disappointing. I paid $345 in cash for parts for the repair, but the parts that were purchased did not work for my truck because the spark plug setup on the truck had apparently been changed by the previous owner. What made the situation much worse was the communication and lack of follow-through afterward. The spark plugs were removed from my truck, which left the truck unable to be driven, and I was told someone would be coming back to finish the repair. I waited for them to return, but there were repeated delays and poor communication. At one point I was expecting them in the morning, and they did not show up because I was later told they were in Alabama working on another vehicle. This was especially difficult for me because I use this truck for my junk removal business. While the truck was sitting undriveable, I was losing time and potentially losing paying jobs because I had no way to use the vehicle for work. The truck was also left sitting near the edge of my driveway, which created additional problems with where my other vehicles had to be parked. My biggest issue is not simply that a repair became more complicated than expected. I understand that mechanical problems can sometimes uncover unexpected issues. My problem is the way the situation was handled afterward. If you tell a customer you are coming back to finish a repair, especially after leaving their vehicle unable to drive, communication should be consistent and the customer should not have to repeatedly wonder whether anyone is coming. I gave them the opportunity to either come back and complete the repair or resolve the money I paid for the parts so that I could move forward with another mechanic. Unfortunately, the overall experience left me feeling like my time, my vehicle, and the impact this was having on my business were not being taken seriously. Not to mention his business partner quoted me originally $3200 for a job, then brought it down to $1200, then Josh called and brought it to $900. How I got 3 prices for the same job in less than an hour? I'm not sure but it makes me now question the quality of work I'm receiving. I would strongly recommend that anyone considering using this mechanic make sure everything is clearly discussed in writing beforehand, including the cost of parts, what happens if the parts do not fit, when the work will be completed, and what happens if the vehicle is left undriveable. Based on my personal experience, the lack of communication and reliability was the most disappointing part of the entire situation. I'm already in the process of taking him to court for the damages. I would not use them again based on how this repair was handled.

** I Feel Taken Advantage Of -- Deeply Disappointed**…read more I'm heartbroken and angry after my recent experience with J & C Auto on Bright Star Rd. in Douglasville. I brought my car in to have the front bumper replaced, and was **never told** it would cost an additional \$1,500-\$2,000 to have it painted. I was in constant contact with Juan (owner's son), and I totally feel as if he took advantage of me. When I arrived to pick my car up and saw that UGLY bumper, I was floored! And oh, he was VERY apologetic for "not telling me" the bumper came primed AFTER I'd already paid them \$1,100, but made zero effort, ZERO attempt to make it right and retain my business. He had the nerve to say out of his mouth, "Ma'am, we wanted to do our best to save you money and get your back to you as soon as possible." What??!! I am no dummy. I know what primed means. I know that many exterior car part replacements come primed, which is why I texted Juan while they still had my car to request a quote to replace my passenger-side mirror and SPECIFICALLY asked for a bottom line that includes the cost to paint it which, by the way, was a ridiculous amount! He actually tried to tell me it was that expensive because they have to 'program' it. Goodbye! What hurts even more is that I truly believe I was treated differently -- and unfairly -- because I came in alone as a woman. I had taken my car here once before in 2024, but that time my ex-husband was with me. The difference was night and day: the communication was clear, the pricing was fair, and I felt respected. This time, I felt dismissed and misled, like I wasn't taken seriously or worthy of the same transparency. No one should be made to feel like they're being taken advantage of because of their gender. I trusted this shop, and now I feel completely betrayed. Ladies, beware. Spend your hard-earned money at an auto shop that sees you, respects you, and won't prey on your ignorance or your wallet. Do better, J & C Auto.

The lead mechanic/owner is very good at fixing what immediately needs to be fixed and outlining what has more time before it needs to be addressed. This helps me managing repairs over time instead of being hit with an astronomical bill. Most shops try to get you for every bit of work they can get in while they have your attention. J & C is not in the business of fixing every item that needs repair on your car if there is life on item they will make you aware and let you determine if you want to move forward. Being honest and truthful goes a long way with me. J & C auto displays this character.
