I brought my 2024 Honda HR-V in for a brake inspection after occasionally hearing minor squeaking. Knowing debris can sometimes cause noise, I wanted to be cautious. After the inspection, I was told I needed front and rear brake pads and rotors replaced due to alleged rust and glazing. For a relatively new vehicle, this recommendation was concerning. When I questioned it, Emmanuel insisted the work was necessary and quoted me $1,967, later reduced to $1,467. The price and urgency raised serious red flags, so I declined and sought a second opinion. That second opinion likely saved me nearly $1,400. I went to Butler Tire, where my vehicle was inspected again. I was told I did not need brake pads or rotors at all and that my brakes were operating safely. I was even provided photos showing the brake pad depth measured with a gauge in the green/safe range..Based on the second inspection, I strongly believe I was nearly swindled into approving unnecessary repairs. Had I not trusted my instincts and done my due diligence, I would have paid for work that was not needed. This is especially disappointing as I was a repeat customer. I'm posting this to encourage others especially women to get a second opinion before approving major repairs at this location. Ask for measurements, request proof, and don't feel pressured. It could save you a significant amount of money.

This is the worst revered tire shop in one of the worst reviewed businesses I've ever seen on Yelp…read more We called them 7:30 in the morning they said come in. We can see you right away almost 4 hours after we went there. They finally saw us and this is just for a tire leak. This is a case of a business in a black neighborhood doing the people in the community an incredible disservice This place should be boycotted.

As a former automotive technician and Goodyear contractor (see that sweet 35% coupon code on my order?), I'm well aware of the classic tricks some shops use to squeeze a little extra cash from customers. Spoiler alert: It didn't work on me. I brought my car in for tires and an alignment--simple enough, right? But wait! Suddenly, Darryl (who, by the way, seems like a decent guy just trying to do his job) informs me that their technician, Frankel, discovered my rear brake pads were allegedly on the brink of disaster, practically grinding metal-on-metal like a scene out of Mad Max. Cue dramatic music. According to Frankel, my brakes were in worse shape than my marriage. Now, here's the kicker: Just four weeks ago, I had my car thoroughly inspected at another shop with an A+ reputation. Their verdict? My rear brakes were in tip-top shape. But I thought, "Hey, let's play along." I feigned shock and horror, and asked, "Oh no, can I take a look myself?" I snapped some photos (attached here), which clearly show enough brake pad material to survive an apocalypse. When I told Darryl I'd have to hold off on this oh-so-crucial repair, they tried to quote me nearly $700 for a simple pad and rotor job on a Honda Accord. Look, I know inflation is a thing, but seriously? I've seen less expensive Taylor Swift tickets. Once I had my keys securely in my hand, I casually informed Darryl that their technician might need a refresher course on what 6mm looks like versus "metal on metal." To their credit, I did receive a polite apology call afterward--nice touch, but I won't be coming back. Now, I'm not outright saying they were trying to pull a fast one on me, but I am suggesting that Frankel needs a little brake pad re-education. Or some glasses? And as someone who knows a few folks in the Goodyear organization, you bet I'll be passing this story along.

Can't beat that. In and out in about 15 minutes. Always friendly and pleasant techs on duty. Jarrid took care of me today. Mr. Byron, the owner, is that kind of guy that reminds you of your Uncle at the family BBQ. You just kind of get that instinct that he knows cars, he's been in business long enough that he's doing it now because he's good at it and enjoys it- not because he needs to cheat people out of their money. I've decided that I'm going to bring my car in to him the next time it needs repairs. Hopefully, that's not very soon. Candas was kind enough to take time to explain the different financing options they now have available. Happy to share with you that Ben Hill Automotive is representing for the entire community no matter where you (your income/credit) fall on the spectrum. They can probably help you get your car repairs done. How's that for being an asset to the local community? It's worth the trip from wherever you are for the $14.95 emissions test alone! Thank me now, please.
