I came in to see Dr. Soparkar because I had an eye surgery (from another by doctor) that went very wrong. I was nervous because of how my previous two surgeries went, but I immediately felt comfortable and confident in Dr. Soparkars skills. He is very warm and comforting while still being very professional. Fast forward to my surgery... I had a two-part surgery because of the complexity of my case. Dr. Soparkar did a procedure that no one else does here in Houston or most other places! He truly is very smart and thinks outside the box when it comes to the the art of surgery. This caused my great grandmother to become blind and my grandmother almost lost her vision. When I was referred to Dr. Koch half my zonules were gone and my lenses were actively dislocating. Dr. Koch suggested an approach that was different from the surgery my mom and grandmother received - one that involved putting a new lens in the normal place it would be (as opposed to on top of the iris) and held there by two rings that are sewed to the sides of my eye wall. Dr. Koch saved my vision and he is my hero! He performed extremely complex surgeries on both eyes. Not only is he one talented and amazing surgeons but he also possesses a gentleness and calmness matched by none. His bedside manner is superb! I was terrified to have the invasive surgery required to fix the macrostraie, as with any surgery it came with additional risks. Dr. K was patient while I hesitated but took a firm stance on the best approach to permanently fix my problem. He always responded timely to my e-mails filled with questions and never rushed the many office visits throughout the 9 months it took me to gather the courage for the surgery. Dr. Koch is an AMAZING surgeon! He meticulously placed A LOT (too many to count) of microscopic sutures in my cornea at the exact positions to straighten out my cornea properly, a procedure that I believe he invented. At my last check, up he was absolutely delighted (big smile) at the improvement in my vision and the health of my eye. Dr. Koch truly cares for his patients and is extremely passionate about his profession which also involves teaching the students at Baylor University. If you are enduring a vision problem, I highly recommend Dr. Koch! He is the BEST! I am his patient for life and would not trust the care of my eyes to anyone else. One of her eyes was misaligned at all times, most of the time both were "crossed" to some degree. We initially took her to a physician in Austin, but sought out Dr. Stavis for a second opinion. We wife is in the healthcare industry and got his name from a nurse that has worked in the OR for many years, and with him in surgery. Dr. Stavis detected muscle weakness and torsion issues with our daughter's eyes that the physician in Austin missed entirely. We were able to obtain a complete treatment of our daughter's issues (corrections for misalignment and torsion) with both eyes in a single surgery. His follow-up after the surgery was excellent (we had at least three follow-up appointments). That was three years ago, and our our daughter is still doing great. Dr. Stavis is a character - by that I mean he's engaging, energetic, likes to tell stories, and likes to talk about surgery techniques. Anyone can tell he loves his work and his patients. My wife and I, and our daughter, will always be thankful for his help. He truly changed our lives in a wonderful way.

Before I had the procedure done I did my due diligence and research about what I could do for my eyes, after months of research I found Dr. Monte Stavis. When I first walked in the door I was greeted by Melissa which by the way is a wonderful fun person in her own right she made me feel comfortable and right at home. She took care of me and gave me information about how things were going to be and never faltered. What she said and how she said it just makes you feel at ease. As it turns out it was a shock to me that it went exactly as she said, so Thank you Melissa. She then introduced me to Dr. Stavis. When I first met him he made me feel safe and right at home, I mean who does this now a days. His bed side manner so to speak is amazing I never felt like I was there for any other reason than to be taken care of the right way. He did all the test and knew exactly what was wrong and how to fix the problem. He then went on to explain everything in detail and when I mean detail I mean detail. He also went on to explain how the procedure would go and sure enough the day of my surgery it went exactly how he had said. I just want to say... I went to slade and baker for a regular eye exam and to check on cornea. During my visit I…read moreexperienced typical exam and Dr. Slade he could see the issue with my cornea. I was told that day that the same eye with the cornea issue had cellular issues and may need surgery to repair the cells. They scheduled a follow-up to check on the cellular issue. The cornea issue was a known issue for years. I had not heard of the cellular issue until this day. When I went back a month or so later as recommended for the follow up, the machine that reads the eyes' cells was acting up again. I was there neatly 4 hours for what was supposed to be a simple follow up. They eventually were able to get scans and said cells looked normal and the original scan must have been bad. Then Dr. Slade said my cornea looked fine and I did not have a cornea problem, which was concerning because a month prior he looked at my eye and said he could see the cornea issue. When I reminded him that I have had a cornea issue for 30+ years and he saw it a month prior, he insisted my cornea was fine. In addition, I never received a prescription for eye glasses, so I called to get a copy since I went there for my annual exam. I was directed to go to an optometrist. Mind you, I was charged for each visit. I wasted my time and have to start over with another doctor. Something is amiss. I would not recommend.
