This shop has an eclectic array that mixes every day items you can use with unique gifts. Everything is sustainably sourced and high quality. Previously, we've purchased sushi making kits and glass straws. Today we found some cute gifts for an expecting mom friend, a recycled bag and a number of fun little toys and stickers for my youngest. I've been trying to get to this shop for the longest time, and ironically enough I was able to shop during a national pandemic. I purchased some plants and a watering can, some for myself and some for my mom for Mother's Day. I was beyond satisfied with my shopping experience and how smooth it was to just pick everything up from the back porch of the shop. The plants were stunning and very well taken care of, and the watering can was beyond adorable! The owner was more than accommodating with letting me know what items were available and keeping me updated with the status of my order. By the time I picked everything up, all of my items were neatly and securely packaged, waiting for me exactly where I expected them to be. I love this store! They always have interesting things: independent magazines and publications, books, kitcheny items, clocks, candles, soaps, sets of rubberstamps for those interested in "paper arts," notebooks, watches, jewelry, unique greeting cards. Today I noticed the "number sparklers" for birthday cakes, as well as some other cool items for parties. There's also a section with upscale baby and kids' stuff: accessories, toys, craft kits. I'll agree with the reviewer who referred to "Very cool eclectic gifts for all ages," as well as the one who said, "The woman who owns it has wonderful taste." Everything hews to the owner's esthetic, and you never know exactly what you will find here... but you know whatever it is, it will be interesting and attractive! read more

This store is a gem, I live in Philadelphia but have found an excuse to visit Frenchtown knowing I can get great food at the Lovin Oven, enjoy art at ArtYard and make an excuse to come here where I have been able to get awesome gifts without having something in mind (& it's always perfect) and splurge on things for me. Modern love is full of wonderful and interesting things. From furniture, clothes, kids stuff, and gifts. These are not your every day run of the mill items but there is something for everyone. Not only is the store warm and inviting, but the staff there is great to talk to and knowledgeable in what they sell. If you are in the area of Lambertville, NJ or New Hope, PA...I suggest going a few more miles down the road past Bulls Island and go to Frenchtown to visit Modern Love. I have shopped at Modern Love a few times, and each time I go in there I always have a great experience. It's a little pricey, but it's worth it, from the unique contemporary items to the hand-picked vintage items, I know I am getting something totally original. The staff is great and friendly, one member discovered I like squirrels, so she literally ran around the store showing me items with other squirrel motifs. This store is worth the trip to Frenchtown for me, in fact it's mostly why I go! read more
