This is not your run of the mill neighborhood barber shop. They offer waxing of the ears,nose and eyebrows. Shaves are with a straight razor. The girl that does the manicures is fabulous. The store is spotless, the entire staff couldn't be nicer, they run on time with appointments. Plenty of parking, and definitely worth traveling to from out of the area . I had an exceptional beard trim and shave. Really top notch with definite expertise and attention to detail throughout the entire process of nearly 30 minutes. Let's focus on the above ... lol I was so comfortable and trusting of the barber, I agreed to have my haircut. I wear it kind of longer and was assured there would be "about a good inch off the back" and a little less on the front areas. I'm not sure what happened in the meanwhile as I had my hair shampooed, but there was a significant glitch on the measurements of how much was cut off. Embarrassing and hat-worthy now for some time before some professional work and video recordings for which I am hoping I can delay shooting. Bottom line- very nice people. Exceptional shave and beard trim. Stick with the barber cuts and not anything longer or less structured. On the up side, I'll save money on shampoo and won't need a haircut for a year. Update - 10 days in and the consequences of NOT listening and literally saying one thing and doing another aren't a joke. This will take months and months to get back. Horrible. If you can't follow instructions or, at least, not lie about what you're going to do, revisit what you do. read more

I went in last minute for a manicure and pedicure. I had a really great experience! I prefer everything cut very short including my cuticles. They polished and made sure everything was shiny and very neat. I really like they use the razor for the pedicure. First time in years I found a place that doesn't use that gel to get off all the dead skin. The razor works much better. I want to move everything over to this place. On an off chance they would take me, I walked in at 6:40 hoping to get my son a haircut eventhough they were closing in 20 minutes. They took him no problem. Tommy cut his hair and he gave my son the best experience. He was so sweet and soft spoken with him. I can't say enough about how patient he was with my son who is always nervous during haircuts. In the past, my son has screamed and cried, and today he didn't shed one tear. He walked him through every step and made him laugh. I am so incredibly happy with Modern Male. I was a long time client at Avanti for about 8 years until the girl who cut my hair moved to LA. Since then I've tried about 10 different hairstylist but never found one that cut my hair the way I liked it, until recently. Upon my wife recommending Modern Male to me I decided to give this new men's salon a shot. When I called to make my first appointment the receptionist asked me how I like my haircut, "scissors or buzzer" and suggested a guy named Tim. I have since been back 4 more times and have left more then happy with my cut each time. I've also had manicures and pedicures a few times which were all good. At first glance Modern Male looks like a shiny penny. But if you look closely all the flaws will show. A lot of money, time and energy was spent on the construction of this place. I was so excited to have a place so close to me dedicated just to men that was nice to look at but at the same time still remaining masculine. Kudos to you on that. However, if you spend some time there you see the unprofessionalism that surrounds you and all of the employees' drama spilling over to the customer experience . I went here today for a massage and was pretty disappointed. If you're looking to get one, I would highly suggest going somewhere else with a more professional staff and atmosphere conducive to actually relaxing. Here's why: The staff: After I checked in 10 minutes early, I waited for just short of 40 minutes before asking if I would be taken soon. The girl at the front responded as if she had never seen me before (maybe because 40 minutes had elapsed since we last spoke), and then quickly grabbed the masseuse to bring me to the back. She never apologized for the wait, and was pretty cold when I asked her about my appointment. The masseuse, Mona, was very sweet and apologized for having to wait so long. She also did a pretty good job during the massage. The atmosphere: When I walked in, it was clear that the ownership is trying to capitalize on this new wave of vintage manhood and hipster-related decor. That's fine. However, the massages are given in the back of the establishment, which is separated from the front of the establishment by half-walls. So, despite the fact that the ownership is trying to push this whole vintage look, you can still here every Adele remix and house song while you're laying down during your massage. Definitely not the ideal environment to relax in. Something about hearing "ANTHONY" being screamed doesn't make me want to enjoy the money I spent in the fluorescent-lighted back room. Came in for a pedicure today. One of the fastest and worst pedi I ever had and I have been getting them over 20 years. Gave my legs and feet a great massage. But the nail cuts, cleans and Calus sanding and remove was mediocre at best. Had first one here a month ago. The girl was nice personable and did a great job her name was Sara. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with how long I waited and the unprofessionalism I received from the barber. The barber Allan I believe was the name, was extremely rude to the other employees while cutting my sons hair. The place also looked very under staffed for a weekend.
