Modmarket Boulder is MUCH better than the Denver location... although they're both great. I like the decor here and the setup more, and they have a giant computer screen on the wall where you can enter your email for a chance to win a free meal! Which is pretty damn cool, if you ask me. I wasn't totally wowed by the pizza I got this time... but that's not really their fault. Just personal preference. I'm also soooo hung up on that delicious cane sugar soda. Mostly, I like that this is a local company, who uses local ingredients, and is way more concerned about customer needs than making money. I usually have a great experience here but this time was awful. They say they are open until 9:30 but don't show up past 8:30 if you want good food. I ordered what I always get: half bacon corn pizza and winter green salad. The pizza came out tiny not worth the money I paid and the salad was wilted lettuce, brown apples with the stickers still on them and hard potatoes. My friend and I over heard them talking about burning our pizzas, the dough not being correct and running out of cheese. If this was a good restaurant they would've offered us a different option as clearly they didn't have what we wanted. I stopped in at Modmarket once I had confirmation from a friend that it was not a furniture store, like I had initially suspected. I ordered the Market Salad with chicken, and upon first glance, was disappointed. I thought, "This place is just another Mad Greens. Bummer." I sulked back to my office with the all-too-familiar plastic salad container in my hand and prepared to trudge my way through what appeared to be a boring salad. The thing is, that when you have a salad full of fresh cucumbers, corn off the cob, free range chicken, and my god, DATES, things tend to taste differently. I was blown away by the flavors of all the vegetables. Let me say that once again--the FLAVOR of the vegetables. When's the last time you really dug for a raw cucumber in the bottom of your salad? My rating went from 3 to 5 stars - the folks at ModMarket listen to their customer base, are on top of their game, and have made this place a true gem. In the 2 months since I wrote my 1st review, they've made changes that (I think) come from paying attention to feedback. I've tried most of the flatbreads, a salad and some soup - all are fantastic, and a good way to get your veggies! The staff are friendly, and really know what they're talking about. You can have witty banter while paying for your food, and if yo go during happy hour, you can snag a $1 glass of wine to boot! ModMarket is really a special place - healthy, reasonably-priced food with a fun atmosphere and staff who are honestly interested in making your experience enjoyable. I think the place is pretty great. I haven't had the pizza but went in and ordered a sandwich. The staff was friendly enough and helped me decide on what to eat for lunch. On another occasion, I found out they delivered and sent an order for me and a couple of my co-workers. The salad I ordered (you must try the Winter Salad!) was the freshest and I loved the dressing. I work at Nordstrom Rack and we are in the process of relocating to 29th Street in Boulder. After several hours of unpacking boxes of clothes, I was searching for a hearty lunch, but something healthy that would supply me with the energy to make it through a long afternoon. I started to walk to my car to drive to my old "fast food" standby Tokoyo Joes, when I caught a glimpse into the windows of mod market. I assumed that Mod Market was a clothing store, but I saw a large lunch crowd sitting on tables topped with parmesan cheese and pepper flakes. I didn't know what type of food they served and had never heard of the place, but I was intrigued. When I walked in, I found a highly contemporary restaurant filled with healthy, fresh food and a happy buzz in the air. The salads looked amazing, but I went with the M'Rita pizza. (Only 600 cals for a pretty large serving of pizza!) It was delicious and covered with fresh ingredients. The tomato sauce had a nice tang and I like that the pizza wasn't inundated with cheese and grease. I also loved that they post the calorie counts of all of their foods and that they have unique, more natural sodas as well. Seeing as work next door, I will definitely become a regular! I really enjoy Modmarket. My favorite is the arugula mozzarella sandwich. The blend of flavors is so delicious. I also really like that they have a fresh salad bar that is better and cheaper than Mad Greens. Their commitment to local products and sustainability is admirable. We didn't care for the pizza. I've also found it frustrating that some of my favorite items have come off the menu and the salad bar (as they rotate items often)--I'm a creature of habit. I also can't stand the decor and vibe. I find it too loud, not kid friendly, and crowded, especially at lunch time. I feel more like I'm in a "mod pod" than a restaurant. read more

You can even order a GF flat bread (which is made from the same crust as the pizzas), with some olive oil, salt and pepper which is so simple yet satisfying. They have a huge variety of amazing, generous salads. Most of their dressings are GF and they have a chart that clearly marks which dressings are GF, dairy free, etc. Their main menu is also very well marked for allergies. One of my favorite items is the basil chicken sandwich, the "wrap" they use is also made from the same crust as their pizza, it has melted provolone and a really flavorful aioli. Mod Market is my first stop when I go home to Boulder! I crave their farmer salad that has mixed greens, roasted corn, grapes, feta, slivered almonds, and a champagne vinaigrette. Between their salads, sandwiches, plates, and pizzas I've never had anything that I didn't love and want to go back the next day to get again. I can't say enough great things about the food and they print nutrition facts on your receipt which is always nice to see. Brunch on the weekends is also awesome! We've eaten here a few times. The first couple times were decent. Last night the food was disgusting. I ordered takeout so didn't notice the food until we got home. The steak was tough, dry and tasted spoiled. I ate two bites before deciding I didn't want to risk food poisoning. The chicken was so dry it was impossible to eat. I called to see if I could get a credit or something but I was routed to their ordering line which is off site. I was told that it's not possible to reach someone directly at the store but to leave a message for catering and they will definitely back to you. So far two phone calls and messages and no call back. I would normally just give a pass on a bad night but the fact that they make it impossible to talk to a manager about problems after take out is just ridiculous. The food could be great if they made it to order and the service could be improved by just making themselves available. Another place for my standard quick lunch option. I like this place because they provide their nutritional facts in their website. They have big selections for from salads, sandwiches, plates and pizzas. I usually go with the Merida salad whole size. I only wish that they include the sugar content of this dish for a weird reason it's one of the few dishes that the website left blank in terms of sugar content. Just went to MOD Market tonight with a friend. If you're looking for a nice change this is the place. Not only is it eco-friendly (as most Boulderites appreciate) the menu also has lots of variety. The salads are great for a light, refreshing lunch and the flatbreads are awesome for a thin-crust pizza lover. The wintergreen salad was awesome and I definitely recommend the nutella flatbread...it was AMAZING. Get this flatbread for dessert: strawberries, nutella, and powered sugar. awesome. Healthiest fast food in Boulder! Most of the food at this sleek restaurant has nutritional information printed on the receipt. At Noodles you can easily surpass 1000 Calories with out a clue. At Mod Market you can have a much much much tastier meal (small salad and 1/2 flat bread pizza) for under $10 and less than 700 Calories. It isn't just about cost and Calories though, the taste is far more refined than Chipoltle or Noodles. Plus you can get a $2 glass of house wine! I recently called Modern Market Eatery in Boulder in hopes of arranging for a platter of sandwiches to be prepared and delivered to a neighbor family who had lost a loved one that day. I was hoping it would help during a difficult time. I had never purchased from Mod Market before, and didn't know what to expect in terms of the arrangements and the quality of the food. The person who helped me couldn't have been more accommodating, working with me on selections and making special arrangements for the delivery. The neighbor whose husband had passed raved that the sandwiches were "outrageous;" she particularly like the bread that was used. Another family member remarked that the mushroom muffaletta was delicious. I used to LOVE Modern Market. I've been eating here since it opened as Mod Market, but recently quality has greatly gone down. Came in today and had the Curry Salmon Bowl, the salmon was dry, kale was discolored and old. My boyfriends salad had wilted lettuce. The quality of the meals have gone down and prices have gone up. But what is most disappointing is that they have switched to plastic cups for water and drinks!! Water cups are not recyclable nor compostable. The food is good, but the service is terrible. We have ordered take out a number of times, and every time, they don't pack the full order, even though they have charged for everything. If you do order from them, I highly recommend that you look through your order to make sure every thing is there, and that each of the meals has all that is supposed to be in there.
