Prior to entering, we heard it may be run by a cult, however, we did not look into it as it was quite literally the only place on all of Pearl street open for breakfast other than Snooze which we were banned from as my sister as meeting friends there. We were a bit skeptical the whole dining process but the food and drinks were honestly delicious. We got the iced mint mocha which was so delicious, green tea, yogurt parfait, breakfast sandwich, and spinwich. All of the ingredients were fresh, well prepared, and tasty. Once we left, we read about the background history and some of the values of the twelve tribes associated with the Yellow Deii. What a gem of a find! We were searching for a lunch spot near our hotel and stumbled upon The Yellow Deli. This place is so cozy, with handmade-looking furniture that gives it a warm, unique vibe. I ordered a cup of chili, the Country Ranch sandwich, and a mango mate drink. The chili might just be one of the best I've ever had, served with a slice of their artisan bread that was absolutely delicious. The sandwich was delightfully messy--in the best way possible! After hiking for the day, we were looking for a good sandwich in the area. We just happened to pass the Yellow Deli and the inside decor immediately grabbed our interest. Full of woodwork and murals and macramé and so much more. The mistral music reminded me of the Renaissance time and the friendly attentive staff took the cozy ambience to another level. The hand drawn menu with fun cartoons and messages made it all even harder to decide what I wanted to eat. All fresh-made bread ( and may I say the freshest bread I ever ate) with Boars Head meats or Alaskan-caught salmon made our entire experience here a five star PLUS. The chili was delicious although coming from Texas I really wanted more kick to it. They served it with a small cheese and jalapeño bread which I believe just melted in our mouths. My husbands Deli Rose sandwich - a menu item that has remained constant for 45 years- was basted with a spicy tomato spread. He enjoyed it but thought the spread was a little heavy. My Salmon sandwich was unforgettable. Absolutely delicious. And the sides were either chips or a small veggie cup that was really refreshing. We finished with a lemony cream cheese pie drizzled with honey and topped with fresh strawberries that was exactly what I wanted to finish the meal. I didn't leave a crumb. The iced tea was fresh brewed which we had to ask for another refill. I truly enjoyed Yellow Deli and am so surprised this restaurant hasn't popped up in Austin TX. Most restaurants are east coast.
