Could have benefitted from more ingredients (like most Buddha Bowls) including chickpeas, some more wet veggies (tomatoes, cucumber, etc), and some leafy greens. By itself it was a bit dry and plain. I like Mod Market, whether it's the location on the 16th Street mall in downtown Denver, in the Denver Airport, or this swanky new(ish) spot in Boulder. On a cold, damp fall morning, Mod Market was a beacon of warmth and coziness... once I found the storefront in a crazy huge shopping center. One of the many things that makes Mod Market so good? Price and quality. They provide healthy, tasty food for breakfast, lunch and dinner at an incredibly affordable rate. You can get a egg/sausage/kale scramble for less than $10. That's practically unheard of in the 21st century. Cheap morning meals usually consist a carb-loaded, bacon grease-soaked paper bag. Nice to know that you can eat well here and not break the bank. I wish the Wifi was working on the day I was here, as I had brought my laptop to get some work done. Luckily Noodles & Company next door has complimentary Wifi and it reaches over to Mod Market. Modern Market is suhweet. I had always passed by this establishment on the way to something else in the 29th street mall, and for some reason I never made it in. I heard from some people that it was expensive, and from others that it was boring... In any case, I finally walked in last week for a breakfast meeting (I didn't even know they were open for breakfast) and was pleasantly surprised. The decor sort of reminds me of The Jetsons or some cafe on Coruscant... but really, it's all about the food, right? After only briefly glancing at the menu, I realized that I would be returning many more times. Breakfast sandwiches, salads, and more - all for an extremely reasonable price. I ordered the eggs with prosciutto and toast dish, and a cup of coffee. The food came out promptly and elegantly displayed. As the meeting went on, I kept glancing around to notice how awesome the place was (which of course was collocated with the flavor of the food in my mouth) and I felt better and better about this market. I love that modmarket specializes in many different vegetarian, vegan and gluten free items. Their products are farm fresh and only whole ingredients. The menu may change from season to season based on what is local and fresh at the time. They offer a wide variety of salads, sandwiches, soup, and brick oven pizza. I chose the Thai Coconut Chicken salad and I loved it!! It had a mixture of mixed greens, roasted chicken, grated coconut, cucumber, roasted sweet potato and served with a peanut mango dressing. I ate everything on my plate. It was delicious!! My husband got the salmon salad and it was equally as good. I feel like no matter what item you pick you will be satisfied. I look forward to trying a brick oven pizza next time. They looked amazing! The modern but clean atmosphere is awesome!! I've been hesitant to try out Mod Market for an unknown reason but today I decided why not. First, check in to Yelp for 10% off. That's always a great way to start of any meal. I landed on the flank steak with double asparagus for my side. I also had some green chili chicken soup. All of my choices were good choices. The steak was perfectly cooked and went well with the sauce they gave you. The green chili soup had a good balance of heat and deliciousness. I'll give them this much--listing out the specific number of calories, total grams of fat, carbs, and protein in my pizza one the receipt was pretty cool, especially if I was still tracking all of that information via Weight Watchers or another app. And the staff was friendly, the space was laid out well, and the selection of items seems vast with fair prices. Unfortunately, the pizza was just average. Good size, you'll leave reasonably full if you order a whole pizza, but the three cheeses were fairly bland and the crust was just okay. (I guess I should expect that, since the whole pizza was under 700 calories...in Chicago, that would be one slice at Giordano's!). I'd go back to try one of the huge salad entrees but the pizza wasn't anything to write home about. read more

I've ordered the hand carved bowls without the heirloom rice in the past and have been able to sub another side instead since it comes with everything, and was told I couldn't this time. Why can I order subs online and can order only one side but I can't in the store? No silverware in my to go order. It also took about 20 minutes to get my food. After going several times to the Modmarket in Longmont, DH and I decided to come check out this location while waiting for a movie to start ... First, I love how the menus have the nutritional information on them, makes it easy to decide how much I really want to shove in my mouth at one time and of course the descriptions make everything sound great. Second, I enjoy the seasonal rotation items - the pairings always sound so yummy. Third, I like that this location is so close to the theater and shopping - no excuses not to come eat healthy! Negatives were few and non-significant... first, it was loud (same complaint as the Longmont location - I get that it's part of the "clean" decor, but it is loud) and second the bathroom was not labeled real well when you are sitting at the front (that said, just walk to the back - it's not hard to find once you get to the end of the room). Also a bit confusing about how to bus trays since the trashcans were hidden behind the soda area but again that's being fussy. So if you are interested in good healthy food for not tooo expensive and are in the mall area, go check it out! read more

When we got home my Caesar Salad with Salmon had NO DRESSING and they had put Kale in my salad. Everyone knows Caesar is ALL Romaine Lettuce. I'll never order their Caesar again! Even their coffee is palatable, and that's saying a lot in curiously-coffee depraved Boulder. ModMarket once again hits a homerun with food quality. But can't give 5 stars due to: * Ordered at counter, was given a ceramic coffee cup (hey, why the hell can't Starbucks do that?) and then asked "Is that for here or to go?" * Coffee I dispensed from self-serve urn was almost cold. (This was quickly taken care of upon request.) * The self-serve area is splashed with pools of water, kinda like how an old roommate of mine always left the kitchen. Icky. * Tables are not cleaned regularly. In fact, during my one hour here (which saw a peak of four customers eating here, including myself) I never saw this happen. * Butter knife simply will not rest on food plate, leaving only choice to flop it onto table. Really, this restaurant could not be a better example of what Boulder is: a healthy place. Make your own salads is a perk, and they list the calories for those who are watching what they eat. The only reason why my one star has become three stars is because of the student discount, which makes my meal anywhere between $5-8, which is more worth it to me. I do think their food is sourced so well and tastes *pretty* good. However, I'm still unimpressed with them time and time again. Their chicken breast is typically pretty dry. It sometimes leaves me with a piece I can't swallow due to its chewiness. Their pizza is still ridiculously thin and tastes burnt most of the time, and their Mac n cheese is only totally melted and creamy about 20% of the time. I'm a HUGE Modern Market fan. Yes, it's a chain but it was originated in Boulder and they serve sustainable and humanely-raised food, that they cook from scratch daily. Real ingredients and that's important to me. I love the Market Scramble for breakfast, and shhh... I eat it frequently. Maybe a little too frequently! But it keeps calling me back for more. It's cage-free eggs, broccoli, caramelized onions, cheese and it's served with potatoes and toast with butter. I usually use the app and order to-go before work! If you haven't been lately, there's a new fall-winter menu with some really delicious items! I recommend the Curry Salmon Bowl, BBQ Pork Sandwich, or the Truffled Potato Pizza...you can't go wrong with any of them. I wish this review was higher because I love the idea behind Mod Market!! Unfortunately, their ingredients are not great. They have very few organic items and the ones that are labeled organic aren't truly organic ingredients. For example, the "organic" cheese pizza doesn't have organic tomato sauce (the first ingredient). Tomatoes are on the "dirty dozen" list and can be more harmful to your body than other produce if they have GMOs and pesticides. I hate to be "that person" but I have learned how essential it is to eat food free of GMO's and other pesticides from personal health experience. I feel they have false advertising!!! "Farm fresh" does not always mean quality ingredients. Also, staff is always very friendly but extremely limited on their ingredient knowledge. I had one of their pizza's, wasn't impressed, the crust was very salty and tasted like flour. I tried the Thai Coconut Salad with Salmon, didn't like it. I tried their grass fed steak with fire roasted veggies and sweet potato mash for the first time not long ago and really liked it. I had it again just recently, without the sweet potatoes, just doubled up on the fire roasted veggies. They were SO salty I could barely eat them. Just wasn't impressed.
