Warning: make sure that your service is agreed upon BEFORE being done. I went yesterday for a free redo that the manager offered me via phone. I had been in last month for a pedicure, the day before I flew to Italy. It looked fine when I left the shop, but when I got home to Evergreen, the surface had turned all bumpy. When I called, he said a redo would be free, just come back in a day or 2. I explained that I would be gone for a month & was told that was no problem. I asked if they could write a note or mail me one to take in upon my return. The manager said that would not be necessary, just come in. I related this all to the staff yesterday. I repeated the agreement between me & the manager, & the longer time involved because of my absence from Denver. They seemed to agree & I proceeded with the pedicure ( which was done beautifully). When I said I wanted to tip, even though the pedi was a free redo, the tech looked confused, & called over another lady. I was told the pedi was not a free redo. Repeating the above information, they said I called the wrong spa. No, I had called them! They said a redo only was done within a day or 2. I repeated what the manager had told me, & what I told them upon my arrival, about being away. They were insistent about payment, & would not consider even a discount. I was very embarrassed & made to feel uncomfortable. I always pay for services rendered, & tip well. As I reflect, maybe this was a giant misunderstanding. But I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on, & will recommend my friends do the same. read more

I've been to a lot of different places to get my nails done, but this one is by far the best I've ever been too! When you walk in, it's pretty standard, " What would you like? Pick a color." But that's where the similarities end. My technician, Tia, was outstanding. She told me what was going on with my nails in a very informative way, rather then a judgmental way, which was usually my experience. Some of the staff has a silly sense of humor and talks to me about looking sexy for my husband or getting a color that will attract guys at the bar but it's all in good fun and we are all adults. I am a regular here! I always get a glitter-tip acrylic rebase from Daniel. He's efficient, professional, and has a good sense of humor. I recommend making an appointment ahead of time, because they get really busy. The quality of my manicures for the price is excellent. I used to get horrible tips glued on at another salon in the area that's since gone t*ts-up and they damaged my nails so badly I didn't get a manicure for years! I had been coming to this place for awhile and had gotten my nails done by various folks. Some good others not so much. A couple times my gel mani came off in a week!! When I tried to make an appointment with preferred folks I could not seem to get through the manager who always told me essentially "just to come in and you'll get who you get." I found her to be extremely moody along with a few of the other nail specialists. My final straw was that I finally got in with Amy who is one of the better nail people but she was sooooo rude to me I couldn't believe it. Best nail salon in Colorado!! Modern Nail Spa is up to date on everything trending in nails. Every color of polish and Shellac, marble, Tiger's Eye, powder, dip, Mood Effects... The list just goes on. They have the best staff, everyone is so welcoming and nice. They get your nails just to how you like them and they last! If you don't like something they will fix it. I went to another "highly rated" salon in Denver a couple weeks ago and was very disappointed. I know how they got to be "highly rated" is that they give you $5 off your service if you vote for them. Nice. But here Daniel & Amy give you great service that deserves a high rating. I went at 9am on a Saturday and did not feel rushed at all. Daniel did an awesome job on my acrylic nails; he took his time and definitely took pride in his work. They also have special pricing for kids mani/pedi's so I will be taking my 10 year old back there. The staff were more mature and I think this made a huge difference in my experience last week. I've been coming to this place for years, and today was my last visit... the vibe has changed. Instead of a place to relax and indulge in self-care it is now pressure sales tactics from the minute a client walks in the door - up sale, cross sale, and today, just blatant over-charging. Can't find a price list anywhere and when asked for one the prices listed didn't match what I was charged. Good manis and pedis, but there are too many nail salon options out there to have to deal with these types of antics. Starting today I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

I got a shellac on Sunday. On Tuesday it started peeling off my nails. Also, their price says $20 for one color, $25 for french shellac. I got two colors on my nail thinking it would be $25, WRONG the guy said it was $37! I asked what made it so expensive but he couldn't explain it to me. I will NEVER to back! read more

They do not care about quality and for not even being open for 1 year it is very sad to see this happen so soon. Wow I'm pretty disappointed in this salon. I had a pedicure here over the summer and about 3-4 days after my nail polish was chipping off. I can normally get a good solid month out of a pedicure. Well I went back last Saturday for a gel mani thinking this would be different and giving them another chance. I'll give the nail tech credit on my one nail design as she actually made it look pretty close to the image I showed her. However, in the other hand she didn't listen to me when I told her how I wanted the design to look. In fact I really dislike it AND she didn't put top coat on it which I didn't realize until I was driving to my office Christmas party. This nail salon is about 30 min from my house so to turn around and have them fix that was just out of the question. I spent $47 on this manicure. 4 days after I got them done, 4 DAYS, the gel polish was coming off and the designs were chipping. I called the salon to explain and ask if they could fix it and the guy said that maybe they could but I would need to drive there and have them see. See what? That your polish sucks and gel is a rip off?? I'm not spending two hours of my day there and giving them more of my money. I tell everyone, only get gel if you're pressed for time(like I was the day I went) but otherwise don't waste your money. It ruins your nails and it doesn't last for many people, more than a week. read more

Recently moved to the area and decided to give this place a try. I had a standard mani pedi. Overall I would give them an average. I had one of the guys. He never told me his name and his English was not very good. He spent more time talking to the technician next to him during my pedicure than paying attention to what he was doing. The male nail tech was incredibly rude and kept telling me to pay attention. Why would I want to watch him closely? I could just do my own nails.... He kept sighing and scoffing and at one point bumped my nail and had to re-do it and told me I smashed it! What am I paying you for? I've been having my nails done for years and no one ever wanted an audience or told me to pay attention. Getting your nails done is supposed to be relaxing and fun, and not make you feel like a delinquent in the classroom. I can't emphasize enough how mean this guy was. I will never return and I think this guy should find a new line of work. Also, it's one of the worst manicures I've ever had, but apparently that's my fault for not paying attention....?! Big. Fat. I really wanted to like this place. My friend gave me a gift certificate for her favorite nailed place. I decided to go here instead of my regular nail place for my wedding. Three of us went in with an appointment. We did not have to wait at all. We were started on right away. Two of us wanted ombré color on our nails. (I do this style frequently at my regular salon) only one person in the salon knew how to do ombré and she was working on a client so she quickly showed 2 girls how to do it. I wish they would have just told us they couldn't do it. My girl kept putting layers and layers of acrylic on my nails. She tried to sand them down but couldn't do too much because she didn't put the color on right and it was just getting rid of the ombré color. I told my girl that I like my nails to be thin and she said "no they'll break." My regular place always makes them thin and I've never broken a nail. So In The end my nails were thick, bumpy (no she didn't even get them smooth) and uneven. I was mad but in a time crunch. The only way to fix them would have been to completely redo them and I just didn't have the time. Luckily from afar they didn't look horrible but I couldn't stop thinking about how shitty they looked. The other person who wanted ombré nails got more of a stripey look which she was happy with in the end but not what she wanted. read more

I was excited to finally have a powder manicure, but the manicurist assigned to me told me many times this was her first time doing one. And it was obvious with how they turned out. What bothered me most is how stressed out she became nearly crying over how long it was taking and said repeatedly she didn't like it. Wow, I've finally broken free of this nail spa. I've come to the conclusion I just will not accept this kind of service anymore and pay for it. The staff and the manager are rude, I am sick of being treated like a dummy. I even went back when one of the manicurist cut my cutilcles making them bleed. I have never had this experience before and I'm in my 50's. My nails and cuticles are in fairly good shape. She was absolutely rough. It was completely unnecessary. And it hurt! At that time I did complain and they just said sorry. No offer of a discounted manicure next time; no nothing. I voiced how much it was health concern to me. And I still went back today for a manicure and a pedicure to endure this anxiety ridden experience. I told the woman what I wanted, and she does not do what I want and argues. This is one among the other times that I have been treated rudely. When you ask a question or ask to have something done, or not done, according to your preference it becomes some kind of issue for them. If you go to this nail spa be expected to not say a word and don't even look at them funny or you will get a rash of rudeness. I kept coming here because I did believe the quality was a little better than some of the nail spas that I have been to in Golden, however it is not worth it to me to pay for this service when the people are so rude. No more for me! I am not going back ever. I am free of this place. It's not worth it. I would NOT recommend going here. read more
