I brought my Dad here for a new pair of glasses and he was pleased with the whole process. Instead of getting separate prescription sunglasses and separate reading glasses, his glasses came with a magnetic sunglasses clip-on that goes over his reading glasses, which is pretty cool. In regard to the employees that work here, all I can say is that the optometrist and the optician are both very caring and highly intelligent (Jasmina and Ara, respectively). The front receptionist girl is also friendly and professional. As a side note, I think my Mom is now secretly jealous of my Dad's glasses and wants to come here too next time. read more

Excellent Care I was paralyzed and they were able to accommodate me because my wheelchair is a standup wheelchair and they took a great care of me excellent type of care. This is by far the WORST eye doctor I have ever been to in my life. I have needed glasses/contacts for over 30 years now and have been to eye doctors all over the US, and can tell you these people are incredibly incompetent, CAN NEVER get your prescription correct, then blame it on you! I've never had that issue elsewhere in my life. They have horrible customer service. Not to mention they're extremely racist! They've treated me like a criminal on each occasion demanding for my ID (which I promptly gave) and double checking it over and over before then telling me they KNOW who I am bc I came in last time unhappy. If you "KNOW" who I am why are you checking my ID over and over again. On several occasions they have refused to give me a copy of my own eye exam!! I ordered Channel costume frame eye glasses from them and paid $480. Come to found out after a few months that they used generic frames that look like the Channel ones. The reviews are accurate- front desk receptionist is a robot and not friendly or nice at all. I wasn't sure if this was a cultural miscommunication or what, but she simply seems to hate her job/life. I went in a few months ago as a new patient and the sign up process was pretty simple, but you do have to interrogate her for basic information like next steps, scheduling an appointment, etc. But hey I'm not paying for someone to kiss my ass, I just wanted an eye exam and contacts, which is what I got! The doctor I worked with was professional and efficient! The knocked off stars are for the price point. A box of contacts are $80 with insurance, and I can find the exact same box online for $40. Same with glasses, they quoted me $250 for the most basic non-designer pair where I could find similar online for half the price. read more

I walked in without an appointment and got helped immediately by a friendly gentleman. Above all it was at no charge. 1st and last time. I'm not sure if it's cultural or the fact that I'm not Armenian, but they don't have great customer service skills. The girl at the desk act like she didn't want to say hello and as I was explaining she just turned her head and looked at the doctor. The doctor acted like he didn't really want to be bothered. I tried to brush that off as he's tired. * at that point I knew that this was going to be a bad review and I wanted to leave. * I've been wearing glasses for over 30 years and I know my prescription and I also know in these days you can fill my prescription within an hour so I don't quite understand why he made it seem like it was gonna be a few days type of thing (sign did say glasses in 30 mins). honestly, if it took a few days I would chalk it up to him being very thorough. It really wouldn't bother me much especially, considering that sometimes I would have 2-4 pairs of glasses to be filled at any point in time. MY ISSUE is that's nothing compared to the feeling of "why are you here" As I was leaving the girl and guy didn't say bye or anything. I said bye to them and the only one that responded was the male upfront. I've hired a lot of people and I don't care if that's the doctor's daughter I would never put her or anyone up at the front desk and allow them to be responsible for first impressions on possible new or old patients. If you don't know how to greet & make people feel welcome regardless of who or what they look like don't be at the front desk. I refuse to go back there are too many doctors out there for that type of stink attitude. I am going to just go back to my old doctor 40 minutes away to get basic friendly service. read more

I had an amazing experience here! All the doctors and the other employees were extremely kind and professional. Their facilities are amazing and pristine! They have state of the art eye exam equipment that I've never seen. They took a picture of my eye and showed it to me. I've never experienced that. First time here, saw Dr. Irina Yakubin for a eye health exam and glasses prescription exam. She was very thorough in her exam. Since it was my first time, she had limited knowledge of my vision / eye health history. She analyzed my retinal scan, which was helpful; this was the first time I had this scan and I appreciated her showing the results to me and discussing them in detail. She was diligent in determining my glasses prescription, double and triple checked my results versus my previous glasses and the machine's auto-estimated prescription. The receptionist and Dr. Babak could have been more customer friendly (and I will leave them out of the star rating given the limited interaction), but Dr. Irina Yakubin receives a five star. read more

I was somewhat confused after reading mixed reviews at Yelp regarding Modern Optometry. But I still decided to use their service. So after my experience, I feel it is my responsibility to write about my experience to clear doubts of future customers. It is was super easy to get an appointment for the very next day. 'ANI' answered the first phone call, and was courteous and sweet while answering my questions. First impression was good. On the day of appointment (September 30, 2021), I met 'Aarvi' at the front desk. She was perfect, NO complaints against her too. Finally after primary testing, Dr. Irina Yakubin performed the rest of the testing. I felt she was the BEST optometrist I have ever been to. She spent so much time on me, explained every step of the testing, answered ALL of my questions. I have a critical care RN background, so I'm quite inquisitive. She was so pleasant, never rushed on anything. She is better than anything i expect from any optometrist. I do NOT know any of the employees or owner of Modern Optometrist. I really wanted this to be my place, but unfortunately it Won't be. The first time I came here, the front girl is super sweet. So is the doctor (I was seen by the female doctor) I came to check out some frames while I was waiting to get called in, to get the process going faster so I don't spend more time there after I get my exam. The man who dresses in the white coat pretending he's a doctor had a panic attack so bad saying don't touch them until after your exam.. like dude what's your problem I know the routine you touch a frame put it on the other counter so it gets disinfected. Are you trying to not have to clean frames?. Anyways my eye exams done now I'm being rushed out saying oh well you have two frames picked out which one would it be I can't even look at other frames because of how uncomfortable he made me. . I picked one of the two I had. fast Forward to when my glasses was ready. I go in there's people in there he's telling me to go outside ( I'm just picking up glasses) you have people sitting inside waiting to be called in. Tell them to go wait outside so people like me who just have pick ups can go inside. He's super anal about everything. I don't think he should be working there it makes it super uncomfortable to be there. I really liked my doctor but unfortunately I won't be returning because of the front desk man. read more

My first time I came to this place was very nice while I met with professional staff, also the Dr. who took care of me was able to speak Farsi was absolutely amazing but unfortunately I don't know for some reasons when I called them to double check my appointment this time, some guy with very thick accent (Russian-Armenian) which was very hard to understand picked up the phone and said you already missed your appointment. The Guy also switched to Armenian language in the middle of the convo and I was like I'm sorry I don't understand Armenian. (I live in Glendale and have lots of Armenian best friends but I'm not able to speak it though) My appointment was on Monday morning and they were close on weekends so I couldn't check with them earlier and when I asked him to make another appointment he said I'm not going to do that!!!! You need to come on Friday and WAIT AS LONG AS WE SAY?!?! Which is very ridiculous because I was their customer since last year. They only thing that I think everyone needs to know is that they don't realize we live in 2019 and it's absolutely easy for me to take my business somewhere else and spend my money there! read more

Superb Service!!!! I was able to call in and make an appointment for an exam. I waited about 2 minutes before being seen. I was notified by the Optometrist that I would need glasses. My previous experience at different optical boutiques consisted of me waiting about a week for new glasses. I was shocked and very happy when they were able to make my glasses within the hour. I went and grabbed lunch and returned to pick up my glasses. The lenses were significantly cheaper than LensCrafters. It was a fraction of the price. Very happy with the service. I was searching for frames and decided to stop by at this place. I entered. A lone lady was teaching a young man how to use contact lenses. As she turned to me to ask whether she could help me, I told her that I was looking for frames. She smiled and went back to helping the young man. Then a male in a white coat came out and started helping a man who was already waiting for him. I went to the receptionist's counter to ask a question. The young receptionists was chitchatting with some lady. It took her a minute or two to even acknowledge me. When I asked if they accept VSP she gave me an annoyed response of yes. So then I went and sat and waited and waited, and no one seemed to care that I was till there and waiting and waiting. All I wanted to do was to look at two frames.
