I wonder why my experience wasn't like all the five-star raves here, because honestly, this person does NOT deserve that. To preface: I understand if an optometrist suspects something, they refer you to an ophthalmologist. That's normal. I also understand nerves can look "questionable," and I'm fine with being referred. In fact, I loved the ophthalmologist I ended up seeing. What bothers me is the sketchy way this all went down, which left me with a very suspicious gut feeling. First off, the "exam room" was basically a long storage closet with old papers stacked everywhere, a chair, and i actually think it was the closet -- just fully not a professional medical office. It felt dirty and disorganized, 100% total opposite of every other optometrist I've ever seen. First red flag. Then during the exam (not dilated), he kept making "hmm...uhhh..." noises while looking through his lens. When I asked what was wrong, he literally said: "When I look at your eye, I SEE GLAUCOMA." I was shocked. I had just turned 40 three months ago, have zero family history, and every other optometrist has told me my nerves looked healthy -- one even showed them on a big screen and called them "healthy nerve examples." I told him this and he replied, "Well, glaucoma can show up later," then added I "may need" laser treatment -- even though when he finally did a pressure test, it was normal. If my nerves looked suspicious, fine -- just say that and refer me. But declaring "I see glaucoma" without proof, without even explaining what glaucoma even is, was just so beyond unprofessional and unnecessarily frightening. ok SO the BIGGEST red flag: he insisted that I ONLY SEE HIS "friend" in Culver City, and (i am literally quoting him verbatim) "no ophthalmologists in Pasadena or this area are any good." Excuse me? We live in Los Angeles -- one of the biggest cities in the world, with UCLA, USC, and countless world-class specialists -- not the middle of nowhere. Meanwhile, I'm sitting in this dude's gross closet of an office, thinking, "Does he not see where he's practicing? He expects me to trust this??" The irony was laughable if it hadn't been so alarming. Finally, despite acing my vision test, he told me I needed low-grade glasses. At checkout, the staff kept tacking on add-ons I didn't ask for ("blue light $60, anti-reflection $30, another $30..."), and I walked out $80 poorer for glasses I didn't need. I left in shock and immediately called my mom and brother (both MDs), who were just as stunned. I refused to call his "friend" and instead went to a reputable ophthalmologist my brother recommended. That doctor did a full workup with multiple scans, tests, and dilation, and told me my optic nerves are completely healthy -- just naturally a bit larger than average. He also confirmed I DO NOT need glasses. So this optometrist was the ONLY one who's ever told me I "have glaucoma." To me, it felt like fear tactics and upselling, and taking advantage of a woman he assumed was naïve. My advice: do NOT go here. If you're told something serious, get a second opinion from a board-certified ophthalmologist before you spend money or agree to treatment. read more

My experience tells me before you prescribe the lens, make sure to double check the price and how are they going to charge you. I got an eye allergy in Nov and came in to check my eyes. So doctor assumed this might be caused by my current contact lens. He recommended of using a pair of weekly contacts instead of my current monthly contacts since I don't wear it that much. I fellow through and scheduled another appointment for a new pair of weekly contact 2 months later in Jan. Here is what got me frustrated... I came in and thought I can just try this pair of contact and pay for this pair of contact only since this is a new trial and I don't have vision insurance. I also just did my eye check up in Nov for my eye allergy. However, this is not what I've expected. He said he is a business man. He can't just give me the trial contact lenses to try on. Also based on the California law, I have to start over my eye exam every once a year. And my prescription has been expired in June so I have to redo it again. WTH!! I never heard that I have to do the eye exam each year and the prescription can ONLY last for an year?!! And when I looked up online, the prescription can last up to 2 years. Anyway, good thing I asked in more details before doing everything else. I walked out this eye center at last and decide to prescribe a new pair of contact from Costco instead. While I am having no insurance coverage for vision, there is no point for me to pay another eye exam AGAIN in cash + a new pair of contact lenses to try. This is not a right a way for doing business. That's truly a ripped off. read more

I didn't have a good experience here. I just needed the lenses replaced for my reading glasses and sunglasses, and I thought this would be quick and easy. They had to redo my lenses twice after I received the initial pair, and the problem still persists. As soon as I started wearing the first pair at home, I noticed that there was a weird ring of light around the whole edge of the lenses that was very distracting. It was most noticeable when I was looking at a computer screen or tv. I've never noticed this with other lenses, and I've been wearing glasses for over 25 years. I also get ocular migraines that are triggered by light, so I knew that would be a problem for me. I took the first pair back and tried to explain the problem. They told me it might have been the Eyezen and said they could take it off and redo them. They misrepresented what Eyezen was in the first place by saying it was for blue light. They didn't mention that it was a multifocal lens, and I found that out when I got home and looked it up myself. They wouldn't refund me for the Eyezen, even though I wouldn't be using it.  I got the second pair home and the problem still wasn't fixed. I was getting frustrated and started searching for what could be causing it, and read that it could be because the edges of the lenses are polished. I took them back and they said that could be the problem and that they could do unpolished lenses this time, but I felt even more frustrated that I was the one looking up the answers. They are the experts. How am I supposed to know that some optometrists polish their lenses? They did not seem interested in investigating the cause of the problem. I'm on the third pair of lenses from this place, and the problem still has not been fixed. I tried my best to explain it to them before, and I even sent them a video of it. I know it's possible to make lenses without this effect, as I always had them previously and my husband's lenses do not shine like this either. Maybe it's just the brand of lenses this particular office uses? I have no idea, but I give up at this point. I've never had a problem at LensCrafters, so I guess I'll be going back to them. After all was said and done, I paid almost $600 for 2 pairs of lenses and I feel like I was ripped off. That price is with insurance and just for the lenses alone, NOT frames. Now I'm out almost $600 for lenses that I'm not even going to be able to use for that long. read more

I had a really bad experience at this optometrist office. They messed up my glasses - the lens wasn't right, and they had to get new frames to replace them. I had to constantly call them to get status on the frames and my contacts. They had absolutely no communication skills whatsoever. After I took my glasses in for them to replace the messed up lenses they wanted to charge me for the lens replacement. Absolutely ridiculous! To make things worse, they charged me $60 for just one pair of colored contacts. I initially order 4 boxes thinking they they were pack of 6 (3pairs) when I picked them Up they gave me 1 pair per color. When I tried to sort it out with them after a month of back and forth all they offered me was clear contacts as a resolution to their messed up office. This was by far the worse optometrist office I've been to. They lack communication and proper training for their staff. I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

This office is awful. Maybe at some point (based on all the past 5 star reviews) this was a quality place. But it's no longer. The staff is disorganized and unprofessional. Anyone that gets contacts or glasses knows that getting an eye exam is only step 1 of the process. I measure my experience with an office by not just the exam - but by the follow through and communication. My daughter has been wanting contacts and I was really apprehensive about the whole thing. I did some searching and called Montrose Eye over the phone. The girl was very helpful and mentioned a great Contacts Lens exam Special! I decided to go in and check it out. The Dr was genuinely friendly and has a relaxed demeanor about him. He was thorough with the exam and explained everything to both of us. The assistant I spoke to over the phone was very patient with my excited daughter, who was a bit over confident regarding new contacts. I forgot the lady's name but she patiently stood there helping my daughter practice putting the contacts in/out, even demonstrating on herself! This Eye Center was very generous with samples and the follow up visit. I was nervous at first, we both feel this was a great decision with EXCELLENT client care! So please do not go to this place if you are not willing to get completely frustrated... First and foremost the parking absolutely royally sucks! There's literally nowhere to park unless probably on the street. That is if you were driving. So I made an appointment a week ago And my appointment was yesterday. They needed to go and check the health of my eyes because I got hayfever behind my eyes and I needed to get my eyedrop prescription refilled. So had to take an Uber later I get there and they say oh we don't show an appointment for you. I guess there was a new girl there and she made my appointment For the other facility. I was absolutely livid to say I had to spend another $45 to get home via Uber. I mean I guess you can give them a try if you feel confident but I would not recommend this place. As a glasses/contacts wearer for 25+ years, I tend to jump around with different optometrists whenever a "new deal" or "Groupon" pops up to try to find the best deal. All that optometrist-hopping stopped when I found Montrose Eye Center. The customer service here is second to none. Shoutout to Annette, who is kind, understanding, and always provides EXCEPTIONAL customer service every time I walk through the front door. Dr. Fouladian is also incredibly professional and kind; he always responds to any question or concern throughout the course of the appointment. Options for glasses and contacts here are bountiful, and they were even willing to work with glasses I already had to update the prescriptions if needed. Dr. Fouladian has been our family optometrist for YEARS now and we couldn't be happier with his service. The staff is amazing, everyone knows us on a first-name basis, and above all they are reliable. On my last visit, he helped me put together a custom pair of glasses. The pair I wanted was not within his selection in the office, but they made it work. In addition, he introduced me to digital blue light lenses. I work in front of computers all day, and I even wore blue light glasses before, but the digital blue light filter is paramount to any other pair of blue light glasses I've ever had. Any doctor can prescribe medication or treatment, but when you find a doctor that tailors his service to your personal needs, you know you hit the jackpot. Great doctor, crappy turn around on glasses. It's been almost 2 weeks since I had my eye exam and I still do not have my frames. Evidently, one of the pairs had a broken lens while they were being made. Unfortunately, no one thought to call me to tell me. So now they say it's another week before I get my progressives. I just had my eye examined by Dr Fouladian and im soo happy i found him and his practice. They have two locations but this one was close to my house and I was able to make same day appointment the receptionist was super nice and informative and she was able to get me in same day. I went in and within one hour had my eye examined, ordered my glasses and I can't wait to pick up my new glasses. I'm really glad I found this place looking through Groupon. The overall package included an eye exam and money towards a designer and back up frame , which was great! My experience was awesome. I scheduled an appointment within that week. The place is near a Trader Joe's. I walked in and it looked very clean. Annette, the receptionist, was very informative and helpful. The Dr. for the eye exam was very nice and professional. I was not sure about the frames in that location (don't get me wrong, the frames were nice, and they had my style just not the color lol) so she told me I can go to their other location in Westwood and pick out frames there, because they have a larger selection. She was right, I found the frames that I was looking for and got great lenses within 7 days. My time here was very rad! I do hope to come back for my next eye exam. :) read more

I went here for the first time yesterday. I've been wearing glasses and contact lens since forever! These folks were listed on my insurance providers so off I went. Little storefront with typical display. There were a lot of boxes on counters made it look cluttered. The girls up front let me know that the doctor was running late which definitely didn't make me happy but what could I do? I waited an extra 30 minutes and did see the doctor. Nice guy who did the standard exam and that was all. Then is came time for me to pick my new glasses after letting them know I'd get my contacts online as it was way cheaper. The doctor did mention a $55 fitting fee for my contacts. Fitting fee? I'd worn the same kind for years and the rx was the same so what exactly are we fitting? Yes no please. The least expensive frames with lens are $260. Phew. Well okay I guess. Then there are all the lens options of poly this or reflective that. Up up up for each option. It did feel a bit like commission sales which maybe it was. The front office staff were very nice and everyone needs to make a living for sure. I guess I just felt a little stuck since I need these to see so saying no really wasn't an option. Overall I really have no choice but if I did I might go somewhere that felt less sales driven. read more

I've been wearing contacts and glasses for 20 years, and Dr. Delshad is one of the best optometrists I've ever had (I've had a lot). She was helpful, knowledgeable, and thorough. I bought a Living Social deal for an eye exam and a $200 credit toward any glasses. I am so happy that I did. I had an absolutely great experience both with the Montrose store and the Westwood store. I stopped into Westwood to take a look at their glasses after checking out Montrose's. They have name brands but not as many as I would've liked to have seen, but I found there was a nice selection. My appointment was with Dr. Rebecca Delshad and she was so cool. I got my glasses back and I can see! Very happy with my experience and will definitely go back. read more

Finding a optometrist has always been a challenge for me, particularly because when it comes to my vision, I have every issue in the book! I went it for new glasses and my annual contact lens fitting. Dr. Fouladian took his time to answer all my questions and voiced his concerns about some drops I had been taking, I really felt he cared about me and my vision needs. The front desk staff was super sweet and helpful. One of the staff, Anet, gave me great advice and was so patient when it came to me picking the right frames for my face and for comfort. She walked me through the different types of lenses and recommended the high index ones. Typically my lenses would be about an inch thick, but when I got my glasses I was so happy with the result. As I had just switched insurance plans the receptionist Ani, was kind enough not only to fully educate me on my options but to make sure I was going with the plan best tailored to my needs. I purchased a Groupon for this Optometrist, being that it's nearby my house... and I sure hit the jackpot on Groupon deals. I was able to make an appointment the same day. Anette at the front desk was amazingly helpful, being that it was my first ever pair of glasses, she spent an hour with me helping me decide which pair looked the best on my face. I literally tried on 40+ pairs of glasses and she was patient and understanding with my indecisiveness. Went in to get my eyes examined was a different doctor the gentleman as pictured. My first trip there was great prescriptions perfect. But this last year that I went had my eyes checked ordered my glasses and a high-end pair frames. Tried to use them had problems went back a few days later they change the markings for Progressive got the lenses back put back into the frame again still at problems had to go back three I think four times for him to re-check my eyes the prescriptions were wrong no matter what they said it was wrong. Today I went to a new optometrist had my eyes checked as well as he checked the prescription this last optometrist did here at Montrose Eye Center and it turns out the reading was too low and the distance was too high especially on the left side. All in all after having my eyes checked by this new optometrist he says your prescription is actually the same as it was 2 years ago. So I paid all that money for a new pair of eyeglasses that I haven't been able to wear for over a year. Now I have new ones going in thank you Crescenta Optometry. I would not recommend this doctor. read more

The groupon deal for $50 or $55 for an eye exam is good since most optometrists charge about $100-$150, but don't take the eye glasses they offer as part of the deal. They mark up the prices of the frames like crazy so then when they offer you the deal buy one get a pair free, they end up making the cost back and give you really cheap plastic lenses. I got mine about 2 months ago and only wear them at night while watching tv for an hour or two, and they already have scratches all over the lenses. They charged me $150 for the lenses that I paid extra for the better quality lenses and gave me a cheap plastic one that is basically trash now. I paid $330 for dolce and gabana simple black plastic frames with the cheap lens and got a pair of cheap no name black frames with the same lens "free" and that's with a discount the front desk girl offered AND the $200 credit they give you towards designer frames as part of the groupon deal. I also bought the same deal for my husband and the arm came off his glasses after a week of minor usage. The doctor is really nice though and seems knowledgable but I was not happy about having to pay $180 for the eye drops he prescribed for my temporary dog allergies. Also, it took about a month until our glasses were ready which is way too long but to top it all off when I received my initial pair one of the lenses had a huge scratch on it, so I had to go back again and leave the glasses with them to replace the lens. Not worth it go some where else, it's a rip off. read more

Omg i dnt even know where to start my review but im going to just let you guys know Montrose eye center was the best optometry i have been to. Iv been wearing glasses for so many years and recently I decided its time to upgrade and get contacts. I was shopping around and jesus some places the prices for contacts were over 300$ but Not in Montrose eye Center i called to get some prices over the phone receptionist which i found her name out to be Annette was super nice and took her time to answer all the questions i had over the phone that already made me wanna go and try this place out. Dr Fouladian was very knowledgeable and kind he as well took his time to explain everything to me after our exam Annette did a training and let me tell u something she had so much patience with me because i was having such a hard time and of course someone who wears contacts for the first time will have million questions and guess what she took her time and answered all my questions and price was soo affordable its was only 85$ which included exam, training, one pair of contacts and fallow up visit to make sure everything works out great. Im sooo happy to go there they will be my lifetime optometrist. read more
