The formal quote came in fast after our initial meeting, was easy to follow, and fairly priced. Found the proposed timeline to be very well balanced for efficiency vs realism. Appreciated the suggestions provided for if we should/could "live-in" during the remodel vs. a timeline that would allow the bulk of the work to overlap with a time that we were going to be out of town already. Also insights on what it would be worth "buying in advance" to take advantage of sales, even if the actual work was delayed. We got a few quotes and would have felt confident moving forward with any of them when the time came, but the quality of their portfolio and Avi's attentive listening definitely put Teamwork Home Designs at the top of the list. Also, we just discovered Komal's contractors who installed our sink/kitchen faucet didn't cut out sufficient space for the faucet collet. So now the whole thing has come loose and is falling over, I paid Stand Brothers to find out that they can't fix it until I hire someone to cut into the drywall and open up the correct space. The only problem was that, having the decorating knowledge equivalent to two men, and the budget equivalent to a couple with two expensive children, we hesitated every time it came to decisions. I ran across a Groupon awhile back for a color consultation from Spaces Designed, and I decided to call in a professional. The young woman who showed up with swatches and color strips was calm, professional, and kinder than my Realtor had been, by far (maybe it helped to have long since given away my college furniture?). She asked me questions about what colors and styles I like and don't like, and then she confidently whipped out her tools like a magic wand and laid out a color plan for me. Within an hour, I had designer colors for my pseudo man-cave that actually made me happy, because they weren't brown or freaky pink or any other risky colors that scare me. They were an array of muted grey-greens. I hesitated a bit when the painter was working, because I wasn't used to color on my walls, but I bit my tongue. And when it was all done and everything was put back where it belonged, my house was beautiful. I know this, because several of my female friends with actual decorating talent told me so, and rather convincingly at that. So if you're ready for a change, even you don't have the budget or the stomach for a total remodel, you might want to check them out for something as simple as a color consultation. Cutco knives are made in the USA to last, and the Cutco company believes so strongly in its product that each knife is "guarantee forever" including free sharpening. What?! Until recently, I did not have Cutco knives but, just as I was contemplating an upgrade of my kitchen knives, my sweet Mom gifted me with the set she'd had for years but no longer used. Did the guarantee convey to a new owner? Were these older knives (circa 1970s) eligible for free sharpening? What about the French Chef knife that had a chink missing from the blade? Could it be fixed? When I called the Cutco Kitchen in Rollingwood (in the shopping center where the Post Office is) the answer to all my questions was, without hesitation or question, "yes." I took the knives in today and the experience couldn't have been better. It's a small shop but has a very wide array of Cutco products: all the knives, kitchen utensils, spices, gardening tools, and other handy household items. Although there was only one sales person present, I was the only customer so I had her attention immediately. The sales person examined each knife and found one that had a broken point, which I had not noticed. They would mail it and the damaged French Chef knife to the company for any repairs or replacement. The other knives were sharpened at the shop. I brought my non-Cutco knives, too, because they only charge $5 per knife for sharpening. This took about 10 minutes or so, more than enough time for me to pop by the USPO and Great Harvest Bread Co. where I got an amazing loaf of bread (but that's another Yelp review). Their process is to call me when the replacement/repaired knifes are ready for pick-up, which should be about 10 days. Yes, the Cutco products are pricey but I believe they are worth it. My Mom used her Cutco knives for about 50 years before passing them on to me and I suspect they will be around long after I no longer need them. In Cutco's case, you definitely get what you pay for.

Matterhorn came recommended from my wife's boss, and that put them over the edge as far as hiring them. They demoed our old kitchen, removed soffits and outfitted the kitchen for new cabinets. They demoed our old tile floor and installed the new vinyl plank flooring. Then after our cabinets and counters were installed, they assisted us with our appliance outfitting. As with any home renovation project, there are snags and problems along the way, and they worked through them with ease. I've heard so many horror stories of people having nightmare experiences with contractors during home renovation projects, but I can safely say you won't with Matterhorn. Unfortunately, as my house was getting close to completion, I flew in to meet in person to work on the kitchen project and they quoted me $66k now. I understand prices are increasing during the pandemic but not nearly triple. It looks like on top of the price increases, they may have counted the wrong number of cabinets needed for the project. I tried to work with them cause I wanted it to work out but ultimately, I would have had to make too many sacrifices to fit the budget such as not doing some upper cabinets and doing open shelving instead. In making these edits, they could get it down to $45k, still double the original quote and with too many sacrifices. If I calculate cabinets, counters, GC work, etc, the kitchen would be well over $100k. For that price, you should just go with a fully custom kitchen company. If I wasn't building a new house, building out a big pool and deck and all these other incredibly expensive projects, I would have liked to go with UB, but their pricing was more than I think I'd worth for semi custom

However, in September 2025 the shower tiles started popping out of the floor. I texted them and they had to come in and replace it. Okay maybe it was a one-off. But then less than a year later, by April 2026 the *replaced* tiles started popping out again. I tried dealing with it myself with tile glue, but other tiles kept popping out. I texted them again in August, and this time they said that they stand behind their work for only one year from the original project date, and I need to pay $1200 if I want them to fix it. Notice that it hasn't been 1 year even from the replacement date. It's really not worth it. Go with the slightly more expensive contractor they will do the job right once and for all.

Took 5 days by a highly specialized team with a laser cutter and no extra charge and that takes serious design and planning as well as craftsman level installation that is above and beyond anything I've seen in this price range!
