I got bids from 4 different fabricators for our countertops update. We went from granite to quartz. I wanted to keep my existing marble backsplash but several companies told me that damaging the existing backsplash was inevitable. JL assured me that their experienced installers could remove my granite without any damage to my backsplash. But not only that, their price was the best of all four well known Austin companies. In fact, since I was getting Taj Reale from Stratus I saw that several companies marked up the price for the same slab that they all were getting from the same slab yard. In short, JL Cabinets did a fantastic job. The price was great and the demo and installation were top notch. I highly recommend Keyla and all the crew at JL. Maria was our sales rep and she was very professional and helpful showing us our options for countertops. Raymundo was the installer and they were able to very quickly install our countertops with minimal mess. I wish they had set expectations about timeline a little better. I was of the understanding that the first appointment for measuring would be the only appointment for measuring and then the next time they came out they would be bringing the countertops for installation. Instead, the first appointment for measuring was a sales guy. When the installers showed up a week later, they only came to take more in-depth measurements and only were there for about a half hour on the first install day. They did show up the next day to install and were very quick and professional about the installation. We lost a full days worth of work because our contractor thought they were installing on that first day when they took the second set of measurements. However, after they received payment all of the sudden they got super vague with answers and didn't follow through on anything they had said they would. I got quotes from other local companies but JL had the best timelines and prices by far. They have many selections for stone and customizations and make it very easy, providing sinks for counters. This is the second time we have used JL Cabinet and they deliver an "ok" product for the price. However their business practices, ethics, and customer service has turned out to be absolutely terrible. If I could go back in time I would go pay more money for a quality company that does what they say they will and runs an honest business. 1. They go back on their word and blatantly lie. 2. You get different answers from different people. 3. Their installers do not act with care around your house and they play dumb when you tell them in English and Spanish. 4. They hand fabricated the counter tops in our drive way next to our car covering it in counter top dust, which is still covered in dust. The side of the house is also still covered in counter top dust that they did not clean up, as well as our driveway. This is also just after we had our house painted. 5. They left a caulking mess everywhere throughout the entire house. One of our cabinets was actually glued shut from the excess caulking. 6. They damaged drywall and existing cabinets. In one spot of drywall damage (mind you we have smooth finish on our walls) they attempted to float and repair the drywall with caulking. Gotta say that's a first for me. I had to pinch myself to see if I was dreaming or it was real. 7. There are nail holes left in the cabinets. 8. One of the new counters has two chips on the edge. 9. They tried to bill for full payment when the job was not completed. 10. When I tried to hold their feet to the fire to take accountability they back peddled in every way. They literally have a different answer for every situation to try and slip out of being accountable. 11. Now it's at the point when you call to try and get someone to come walk the job to get the issues resolved they hide and forward your calls to voicemail. Then when you call from a different number they pretend the phone isn't working once they realize it's you. I would move on to another company if you are looking for a cabinet company and just save yourself the headaches. Stick with a company that has a reputation that proceeds themselves in a positive way. read more

Giving them 3 because of the work that was finished in our kitchen. Docking 2 stars because of the overall experience. Pros - The workers who actually came to do the job were nice, professional, finished on time and did an exceptional job of cleaning up whenever they left. Even though they knew they were coming back the next day, they left the kitchen spotless. Cons - Dealing with the actual company and their reps. We stopped by the office on William Cannon to consult, make appointment, etc. We were told that the team will arrive around 11am as they have to drive from Round Rock, etc. We said ok and planned our entire day around their arrival as my wife and I both have full time jobs. When they did not arrive by 11:40am, we called the William Cannon office and were told that the team would now arrive at 3pm. We were given a myriad of excuses ranging from "previous job is running longer", "team's truck broke down", "time given is just an estimate", these things happen in construction". Not sure which one of the 4 mentioned was the real excuse in our case but to add to that, I was disappointed that they did not even make an effort to communicate the delay. At 3pm, they called me to tell me team is delayed even further! The guys finally showed up close to 5pm, a whopping 6 hours late from the time committed to us! I asked to speak to the owner 4 times and every time it was promised that he would call me. He of course never did call to discuss alternate options or apologize. Part of our contract and payment included removing the current backsplash in our kitchen which, at this point, unsurprisingly was not communicated to the team who came to our house to do the demo. I had to call JL cabinet again to make sure this was done. This could have easily been a 5 star review as the job eventually finished is very good but the experience with their office, their utter refusal and incompetence to communicate issues and offer excuses instead of solutions left a bad taste in our mouth. read more

JL was able to give us a quick turn on our design, order, and install in January. Their selection is very limited, but that helps keep the prices down. I was more than willing to work with the limited selection to save significant $ on real wood cabinets. We were able to reuse our existing quartz counter tops and the install team was great. I am so thankful I discovered this company for my quartz countertop installation. After looking around and contacting other companies, I was having difficulty finding good prices and service. I had already installed cabinets from another company, but I wish I would have come to JL first for cabinets and countertops after this experience. The first few countertop vendors were non responsive to our attempts to contact them, or their locations were not ideal. I walked into this store because they are near me, and discovered amazing prices. Within one week of walking in there, they were able to come take measurements and install 60 square feet of countertops in my kitchen and 2 bathrooms. Their install team was on-time, efficient, clean, and meticulous. I was impressed at how careful they were throughout the process. The also have both chinese and spanish speaking workers, for those who feel the need to communicate in mandarin or spanish. I speak mandarin so it was great to practice speaking mandarin and spanish with them, although english was the predominant language that we spoke in. The experience i had with their communications, scheduling, and installation was outstanding - 10 out of 10. I am coming back to this company if I ever have any other renovation projects. read more

Bad bad and worse! We've used JL a number of times for kitchens/baths we've remodeled. I can confidently say that their process, quality of install, and product is bottom of the barrel. Terrible! They on the face of things are one of the cheap companies in town. But the axiom, the cheaper you go the more expensive it gets, holds true with this group. They advertise low price per sqft for countertops but take a look closer at their invoice once you have a copy and you will see there's tons of got you's that you will add up and end up costing quite a bit more. They also take no responsibility for damage done to your home while their unprofessional crews are working. They have a list of items that they claim they are exempt from and put all the responsibility on you for damage done! Some of you will read this and still reach out. Don't! Amazing experience with Guillermo and the JL Cabinet & Granite team. Guillermo helped me pick out and design laundry room cabinets and a wine fridge enclosure to perfectly match my existing cabinets. His entire crew was timely for measurements and installation and were able to install days earlier than expected. Additionally, JL was extremely cost effective compared to other bids that from other companies that couldn't figure out the fridge enclosure or were unreceptive to the fact I wanted to use a piece of stone I already had versus their own. After being contacted by JL and asked to remove or revise my review for "false information", I do have a couple of revisions to make: 1) It did say on my original invoice that I had to purchase the entire slab. That will teach me to read invoices much more closely, since no one bothered to actually tell me that information. 2) They did deliver the color I ordered, even though it looks nothing like the color I ordered on the website they told me to choose a color from, because their own website choices are 2+ years out of date. The only reason they are getting 2 stars instead of one is because the office staff at the William Cannon office were very nice & apologetic. Also the installers were nice & professional. Our project install was delayed twice & not finished when promised. The owner was very rude & unapologetic going as far as to raise his voice at me over the phone. Part of the project they were unable to do for us we decided to just finish on our own. When we went to complete it we found that we did not receive some of the needed materials. Even though there were mistakes on their part they refused to exchange materials for what we needed & wanted to charge us more. This small project was one headache after another. read more
