I thought that my needs were pretty specific...help with some interior remodeling and new furniture. First the Remodel - Karen's relationships with contractors and vendors is amazing. I loved every single person she put me in contact with. She was quick to tell me where it might be to my financial advantage to work directly with a vendor, and where i might make best use of her involvement. Now for the Interior Design - Holy Cow. Her process is unique, and my needs fell smack in the middle of the COVID situation. I had to put my full faith and trust in her process, which was a bit scary... but I will tell you that hands-down, it was the best, most stress free and effective interior design process i've ever had (and i've done a few houses prior to this one). I absolutely love the results of her efforts...the furniture, the design plan, the decor, everything! I interviewed a few others first but felt I was being buttered up to a sale rather than given real answers and advise. Jessica arrived at my home on time. We are not finished yet (I will update this review when done with pics) but wanted to write about my experience thus far. So far I have had excellent service and expertise. Jessica has worn many hats for me, acting as an architect, a designer and manager. I came to her with an end vision and no idea how to get there. I just knew how I wanted the space to "feel." She's executed everything from the floor plans, to electrical, to the chairs and pillows better than I could of ever done on my own. She's also been a huge help in helping me understand city codes (uugghhhh) and is helping me stay ahead of them. Her attention to detail far surpasses my expectations. Their response time is fast, this matters when dealing with commercial build out I am learning, and their attentiveness has made me feel like I am their only client. She operates like a GC, managing budget, subs and scheduling, and nothing was missed. The quality of the floors, furnishings, walls is insane. Her company has grown quickly, so she can't always take on new clients, but she is 100 percent worth the wait. All the visuals and management she provided made everything feel simple on my end. My husband and I worked with Janice four years ago with a complete remodel of the 1980s home we bought in central Austin, which had "great bones" but was very dated and needed a total overhaul. (Peach colored padded raw silk walls in the formal dining room, anyone?) Janice was involved in every decision -- from paint colors to flooring (new wood floors, tile and carpet throughout the entire house), lighting, plumbing fixtures, new granite countertops, down to helping me select new cabinet hardware for the entire house. The kitchen was a major part of the project -- walls were moved, an island added, new appliances, new granite countertops, and many other changes. We had a tight timeline since we were still living in our previous house, which we had already sold, and the buyers wanted to move in. We worked with a fabulous contractor and between Janice and our contractor, we got the entire project completed in less than three months. We updated the three bathrooms, but we left the old, small shower and bathtub (which we never used) in the master bathroom. Late last year, we decided that we were ready to do a total remodel of the master bathroom, with the main goal to get rid of the old shower and turn the bathtub space into a large, walk-in shower. We contacted Janice again and worked with her to design the new bathroom (the old bathroom was completely gutted). As with the prior remodel, she thought of wonderful little touches that really made the new bathroom gorgeous; things I would not have thought of. She helped us select the paint and tile and made sure everything pulled together seamlessly. Every time I walk into it, I can't believe how beautifully it turned out! Janice is truly gifted, and her ability to choose colors and textures is phenomenal. She is able to look at a dated house or room and visualize what it *can* look like; something I have a hard time doing. She works with her clients to learn their tastes and style, and she then pulls it all together to create a space that is perfect for the client, whether the client's taste is classic, modern or something in between. Where do I even start? I have worked with Janice on numerous occasions/homes, from paint colors and staging to "whole house" top to bottom projects. She has been a game changer for my business and my own home. I am a Realtor, and when I bring Janice into a listing, I assist my sellers in selling higher and faster than the other homes in the neighborhood. Anything she touches turns to art, and she has left my clients speechless by her results. On a recent listing, I sat down with an amazing client who said "We hate this house- get us out of here". The home needed a new roof, new paint, and updating everywhere and would be considered a "handyman's special" if we listed- and we had a very small remodel budget. April is probably great if you have no idea what you want for your remodel and want her to just design and do it all. However, we knew exactly what we wanted, how we wanted things designed and the specifications we wanted. April did not pay close attentions to all the details we provided her. Cabinets etc were undersized. We had to go back and forth many times. Very cheap materials and labor are used (only single coats of paint and now we have had to repaint most surfaces already with just simple user wear/tear). Cheap material was used in the pantry that we had to have her pull out right after assembly. She spend nearly all of her design hours researching a job that she really could not do. In the end, we are not very happy with most of the work quality or the experience. Next time we need to do a remodel of anything else in our house (which we are starting to plan now for our master bathroom), we will certainly go elsewhere.
