I thought I was coming in for a consultation, and I liked the fabrics and patterns we came up with, but he was disappointed that I was not ready to throw down $4,000 for the custom suit that day. (He convinced me that anything cheaper in his shop wasn't worth my time.) I can see why he likes to close the deal the day of. The more I thought about it, the less comfortable I felt throwing down than much for this suit... I had a few other reasons, too. Anyway, I sent a message to the store the next day, politely explaining why that I appreciated Jerry's time, but the shop wasn't for me. Jerry ended up calling me, and I wish I hadn't answered. He started trying to get me to get his cheaper stuff that had already talked me out of. He was pushy, dismissive of my reasons and all around unpleasant. I think they have some off the-rack suits available, too, and I believe they offer tailoring, but I am no longer interested. He'll probably respond to this and be dismissive again, but those are my two cents. He has a nice assistant. I won't pretend it's bad quality. Still three stars.

The owner, Momo, is incredibly knowledgeable and truly took the time to help my husband find exactly what he wanted. We were impressed by the variety of premium fabrics available, and Momo walked us through different design, style, and cut options to ensure a perfect fit for him. The tailor is conveniently located right next door, and Momo had the tailor come over immediately to measure and tailor the suit. It is rare to find this level of personalized service and attentiveness--Hakamen definitely stands out from the rest of the suit shops in DTLA. We have returned twice since then and bought a suit in December and a sport-coat this past weekend. I highly recommend Hakamen for anyone wanting a top-tier, custom experience!
