I literally wish I bought my dress from Laurie! Definitely don't sleep on this small bridal boutique-- it may not look like a huge fancy luxury bridal store but it is full of pronovias, allure, and morilee dresses. Her prices seem lower than other boutiques (plus she has great deals) and I love her seamstress's "can do" attitude. I love that her website is very updated! Not all bridal boutiques keep up and it is so important because you don't want to go to a store and assume that just because it sells a certain brand-- well, they may not have your particular style in stock to try on and that's just a bummer so check before hand. And big tip**: if you don't see a dress on her site but she carries that brand, she can order for you to try it on. She just charges a small shipping fee which is fair. If you end up buying the one that you ask her to order, she will put it towards your dress. Appointments--A 25$ fee- I definitely took longer than an hour but never felt rushed and she has excellent customer service. Not pushy at all. I went solo so it can definitely feel intimidating but you won't feel like that here. I wanted to thank yelp because this was how I found this bridal shop that is literally in the end of old town pasadena (right in my neighborhood). There is plenty of street parking on colorado ave. You will not regret driving out here to try on these dresses! I came here with my sisters and mom when I was dress shopping a couple months ago. I had done a little research ahead of time and wrote down the dress numbers for several dresses I liked on their website. They only had a couple of them when I arrived, but they did pull them for me right away. I was able to choose 8 dresses during my fitting time, which I thought was a good amount. I let each of my sisters and mom pick a dress they thought I'd like and then it was to the dressing room. The lady helping me was very friendly and helped me in and out of all the dresses. Then I got up on a pedestal to show it off to my crew. I liked that they were very knowledgable about the alterations that could be made and were able to make little adjustment to show me what it could look like. Although I didn't get my dress from here, they had a nice selection. Some of the sample dresses were too small for me (I'm like a size 8-10 in real dresses), but if you're a little smaller than I am, you'd be fine with most of the selection. Prices were pretty reasonable, too. Parking isn't great in this area, but if you can't find street parking, there is a structure around the corner. read more

Late review I worked with Maria. She is an excellent consultant, and knows her stuff. They have a great & efficient process for you to browse and select from dresses, they have a flip book of pictures of all dresses they have in stock. So you just bookmark the ones you want to try and they pull them. The pictures are from the designer, the same ones you would see on the designer's site. This is very helpful as it is sometimes difficult to imagine the look of the dress while it's on a hanger. I am just back from collecting my second dress from alterations with Carmen at Bridal ST and I am thrilled with the outcome and actually feel quite emotional! I came to Carmen on a recommendation from a colleague at JPL. I had just had a dreadful experience where I had to walk out of my fitting crying at another local alterations place who added on loads of costs after our agreed-upon quote simply because they could as it was so close to the wedding, said they weren't able to do the previously agreed upon alterations and got blood on my dress from the pins which left me very panicked with 8 weeks til my wedding. Ironically, my colleague also had a very bad experience at the same place and Carmen at Bridal ST saved her wedding dress! It was safe to say I was really stressed and knew there was not much time. However clearly someone up there is looking out for me. I thank my lucky stars that this experience led me to Carmen! She was so kind and welcoming from the get-go, and I felt much calmer after our consultation. In talking to her, I could tell she was an expert and master at her craft and her passion for her art really shone through. Turns out that she designs and makes her own dresses so she knows the intricate detailing that is needed on even very complex designs. And the store stocks some beautiful dresses, including one of my favorite brands, Pronovias. Carmen knew exactly what was needed and made expert recommendations at my fitting, for all the things the other establishment said they were unable to do. Both of my dresses (Pronovias and Galia Lahav) had a lot of complex layers involving horsehair and lace as well as tulle, and the Galia Lahav has lots of 3D flowers and sequins. Carmen worked quickly and expertly in taking them up and taking the dresses in. She even insisted on hand stitching some fabric at the zipper today as she felt it was getting caught in zipping it up and wanted me to be more comfortable. I thought this was really sweet. The bustle looks excellent and I feel so comfortable walking, she did it in such a way that the shape really flatters me. I've lost some weight and lost my curves but whatever she did has now given me some shape which I am so happy about. My first dress is sentimental to me because I live here in Pasadena away from home, and I chose it with my Mom who flew all the way from Ireland to be with me in choosing it. My second dress is particularly special to me as I am indecisive and it remained on my mind after choosing the first one. I've tried to please everyone else with this wedding resulting in much stress, and I feel getting it is the one thing I did for me and me only, and it was really special to me that my fiancé insisted on getting it for me :) it takes a lot of trust in choosing your seamstress, and I want to recommend Carmen to any bride, especially those feeling the anxiety and stress of wedding planning - she is an absolute expert, talented and kind person and I am so glad I found her. Lori, the store owner is also very welcoming and kind and the price was very fair and reasonable. I want to also highlight that of all the alterations places I checked out this is the only place I went to that has a large fitting room. After weeks of checking out places and being stuffed into tiny rooms that my poofy first dress couldn't fit into, my friend said to me "the large fitting room is a sign they show a lot of consideration for their brides". I felt very comfortable getting changed and felt good in myself as a result. Bridal and Special Times saved our daughter's wedding day--ON her wedding day. My daughter, who is moving to Oregon right after the wedding woke up at 3 am realizing that her veil had accidentally been taken to Oregon in some of the first loads. She needed a cathedral length bridal veil (with a blusher) on her wedding day. It was Sunday and no one was open. My husband mistook Bridal and Special Times' hours as reading open on Sunday at 11 am when in reality it said open TUESDAY at 11 am. It was about 10 am on Sunday, and I called Bridal and Special Times with our wedding emergency. The owner, whose name I don't remember actually PICKED UP her phone. When she heard our situation she immediately started finding a way to open the store for us. When we got there at our appointment time and were let in, I showed my daughter's wedding dress to the seamstress who was there for us, and she began to show us appropriate veils right away. We picked out a reasonably priced veil with lace similar to our daughter's dress, and she allowed us to wait in an air conditioned room so as not to ruin my wedding hair and makeup while she sewed on the blusher. (She was actually recommended by another bride that got her dress here) I'm not proud of it, but I've never been great with keeping track of time, so naturally I came in for a wedding dress about a month or so before my wedding. My future daughter in law is from another state so she bought her dress out of town and when she got it it needed to be alter. It was too long and strap area was alittle loose. It needed more padding as well. $450.00 for alterations wow. Trust me I know everyone is hurting right now so prices might cost a lot more. She paid 1600.00 for the dress so we wanted to go to a bridal shop that know the brand and we can trust. The dress alterations came out nicely but at a cost. It was the hem, adding a bra pads and shortening the strap. We first discussed if they could make a mask. She said oh yes we can. Of course when we went to our fist fitting at 4:00 pm Saturday. The manager was not there just the seamstress. We asked her where the mask is and she said oh you during order one. I then said how much is it. She told me that she doesn't know later during our visit there she tells me it is going to be 60.00 to make the mask. I was shocked and just said ok because I was nit thinking. They were closed at 5:00 so I called them Monday they were closed and open Tuesday. I called Tuesday in the am but it was too early so I left a detailed message that I did not want to have the mask made. It was too expensive and I can found a stream stress that would make it for 15.00. I didn't get a call back, I text the number and the person replies it is too late they already started the mask and they will discount it to 50.00. REALLY the alteration is weeks but you started the mask. A month goes by and they have the dress done. We go in and the manager and the seamstress is there. They pull the dress out and say oh it is done see and pretty said she didn't have to try it on?? We insisted to see how it fits. We see the two safety pins left on the dress we ask why it is still there manager says oh the seamstresses probably forgot well she forgot alright she forgot to alter the Bra padding that was showing like 1/2 inch. At this point I was already not happy with the mask charge. We could have used another seamstress but the bride wanted to feel comfortable with a place that wouldn't ruin her dress. I get that but if you don't even do what you were to do? And almost having us going home without trying it on again? The bride is like 5"2" and the bridal shop ordered a dress for someone that is like 5"8" it was way too Long in the front. To top all this they only had three little pieces to give us that left over??? I am sure they wanted the lace for further alterations as we paid for it. Overall the experience felt like when you go to a funeral home and you don't have any choices and emotions are high so you pay the price. Need I say more? I can. Hindsight would I have chosen them? I had the most disgusting insulting time at this bridal shop. I specifically asked if they had any tea length wedding dresses, and they said yes, not many. There was not one! But I guess they wanted me to come in. I tried to make the best out of it and try on some dresses maybe to surprise myself and change my idea of what I want for my wedding. They did have many pretty extra long dresses, but it really didn't matter since they were so short with me, they were just staring at me and wispering in their language... then they told me to go look at dresses, I felt so lost. It was worse than going to downtown LA. Maybe because I have $500 budge? But for the right one I was willing to spend more. The seamstress was so short with me and I thought well anyone can have a bad day. I was told to leave from the back door when I was trying to look at the other side of their shop for dresses. Bridesmaids, beware. Now that the wedding is over and the pictures are safe and sound, the truth can be told about our experience with this dress shop. We were a group of six bridesmaids and from start to finish, there were so many problems it's hard to know where to start. But let's start with the most egregious. 1.) THREE IRON BURNS on ONE bridesmaid dress. WHO DOES THIS? 2.) OVERPRICED and POOR alterations on our dresses. One of our bridesmaids had to return THREE times for alterations and of course got charged extra. CASH ONLY for alterations. Obviously, this place operates under-the-table. Shady. 3.) PRO TIP: do not gossip and insult the bridesmaids. One of the staff told a bridesmaid that another bridesmaid had to return three times "because she gained weight." This was our tiniest bridesmaid checking in at a size 2. If she gained weight, and I should know because we went paddle-boarding together, it was about 1 oz. The NERVE! 4.) POOR SIZING. All six of us needed alterations besides the expected hemming. How could measurements be so wrong for all six of us? DRUMMING UP BUSINESS, maybe? 5.) I got away lucky. My dress only required one visit for alterations. However, on this visit, I could hear the proprietor, who probably did not realize that I speak Spanish, berating her seamstress for being late, and it sounded like this was a pattern based on the language she used. One can only assume that this business is understaffed and maybe not hiring the best seamstresses around. 6.) Lying to the bride. Yep. Our sweet bride was told multiple times that the shop would open up on Sundays or Mondays for fittings. Yet, every time a bridesmaid called about this, they were told no. No. NO. PLUS..........they told the bride we would get the "group rate." We all bought dresses from the same designer and same exact color. However, when inquiries were made about the group rate, half of us had picked ever so slightly different designs to accommodate our more ample bosoms, so we were denied the group rate. DENIED. Full price. The dress selection is very basic. Yes, our dresses turned out looking nice but you could buy this brand anywhere. If you are forced to buy a bridesmaid dress here, take the dress and run. Get alterations anywhere else. It can't be worse than our experience here. Sketchy, indeed. read more

I had a wonderful experience getting my bridal gown at Bridal N Special Times, beginning to end. Lori and the entire staff took great care of me. First off, let me start my saying I loved RIGHT around the corner from the shop and it was the last place I looked because I had it in my head I would find my dress somewhere like BHLDN. I tried several bigger stores and boutiques but was having a hard time finding what I wanted - unique, beautiful lace detail with a ball gown that wasn't too poofy, and a illusion neckline. I found out this shop has dresses I liked. I ended up finding a beautiful dress by a local designer in Irvine! How awesome! Very unique indeed. And when the price was a little over the budget, Lori gave me a small discount so I could have my perfect dress. They made some alterations for me to take out some tulle so it was a bit less poofy. So this was my 7th time being a bridesmaid. It's an honor I know...and I was thrilled to be asked and honored, of course. But shelling out $200 for a dress was not on my agenda in October. Thankfully the bride did find a place that had reasonable costs on fashionable (as fashionable as they can be) dresses. She picked a lovely chocolate chiffon number by Belsoie. The selection at this store is minimal...only one rack of dresses. And to me, they all pretty much look the same. BUt they were a dream to work with. I put down a deposit and waited to be told to go pick it up. And then I procrastinated in getting fitted. And procrastinated. Oh, you know how it goes! When I finally got in there, they were able to alter the dress in a week and were very efficient and the alteration was very professional. I think I am a particularly good person to judge customer service because I have worked at one of the most high end boutiques in Los Angeles for over 10 years. I was so lucky that one of my girlfriends found Bridal and Special Times on her phone when we were at another bridal store in Pasadena where every dress I was trying on was over $3,000. I must admit Bridal and Special Times doesn't have the chandeliers and fancy decor the other stores we visited had but it had amazing dresses, great customer service, fantastic prices and that is what I needed from a wedding dress store!!! We called from the other store on a Saturday without an appointment and Lori accommodated me, my mom and three bridesmaids. There were so many different choices from all the designers I had wanted to try on. They had a great variety. I tried on several and decided to try one that the mannequin was wearing. When I put it on (with Lori's help to clip it) I came out of the room and everybody cried. We knew it was the one. I wanted to come back with my maid of honor and Lori was so sweet and made it easy to book another appointment. I wanted to price compare also. She gave me 30% less on a Pernovious dress than any other store in SoCal was quoting!! We came back and I put the down payment. She wasn't pushy like the other boutiques we went to. When I came for my first fitting months later the dress was too short( because I'm 6 feet tall and my husband is 6'7 so I wanted to wear heels) I had also lost about 25 lbs so it needed major alterations. They did an amazing job making the dress fit like a glove! My mom left getting her dress to the last minute. We found one there on one of the last fittings and they were able to rush it. Obviously there is a charge for the people who don't understand these things it's a charge by the manufacturer. Not the store! My moms dress was gorgeous! I ended up getting two different veils one for the ceremony and one for the pictures and they turned out beautiful! On the lady fitting I decided I wanted a little cap sleeve and they were able to add it while we went to lunch. It was the perfect touch and you would have never known it was a last minute add on!! I couldn't have been more pleased with my dress and the service I received! I felt like an absolute princess on my wedding day and strangers told me I looked like Barbie what could be a better compliment?? That dress was so flattering to my figure and the alterations were a big part of it!! I hope more people try Bridal and Special Times and have as wonderful of an experience as we did!!! read more

I absolutely loved Bridal and Special Times. I am so glad I bought my dress here, I always felt in good hands with Lori. She was always honest and patient. Her and the rest of the staff took great care to make sure my dress fit like a dream. After not liking the first bustle I chose she completely changed it to a different bustle without hesitation. I wanted to make sure my bridesmaids did not have to break the bank for my wedding, so before any dresses were actually purchased, I took a few steps to ensure I was getting gorgeous, flattering dresses for reasonable prices: 1. Surfed the web and narrowed my selection down to a few silhouettes, cuts, and designers 2. Dragged my maid of honor (she was a great sport!) to a few shops to try on the styles I liked before I made my final BM dress choice for everybody. Once I knew the style I wanted my girls to wear (Bill Levkoff #749 in black), I made A LOT of phone calls to bridal shops all throughout the San Gabriel and San Fernando Valleys to do some bargain hunting...And Bridal and Special Times offered me the lowest price. I placed the order (5 dresses total) with Lori in person; she was very kind and exceptionally helpful. I was a bit nervous about making sure the dresses arrived well before the wedding [I had to ship one of the dresses to a bridesmaid in IL once we received them in CA], so I asked for a quote on rush shipping. I was originally quoted a lower price over the phone than they normally charge [per dress] for rush shipping, but since I was originally misquoted, they were nice enough to honor the originally quoted [lower] price.
