This place has such a cool concept! My Korean GF booked me an appt. here after I struck out at a few American stores. I may be as white as they come, but my bridal style is definitely Asian! I love lots of lace, flowers, low backs, and unique styles. I'd been to 2 American stores + a sample sale at an expo and hadn't found anything close to my dream dress. Those complaining about the selection here clearly misunderstood the idea behind this boutique - they can custom make ANY DRESS for around $1,600! This includes your own vision completely from scratch and exact replicas of designer gowns. It all boils down to their sewing team finding an identical fabric, then the sewing process takes around 2 months. We were shown numerous Berta lookalikes and I couldn't tell a single difference from the pics online compared to the dress in store. The gowns they do have are samples they've made for the most part. These are available for $800-1000 to rent. If you're a super picky bride, have a unique body type, and/or have liked multiple gowns but find one thing you don't like about each one, this place is for you! Two dresses were ok out of all their selections. Not a lot of selections tho. But the worst in this experience is the associate who worked with us seemed standoffish and rude. She seemed like she wasnt patient when we were asking her questions and felt that she was rushing everything. My fiance who dropped us off even said that she noticed the girl wasnt nice as she greeted us coldly when we came in. When she was unclear on what she was explaining, she repeated herself but could feel she was annoyed, like we were not worth her time. Fyi, we asked if they had suits she said that my fiance can only see them if i get a gown from them. (Weird!) Also, my grandma has trouble taking photos using my phone, i asked her if she could do it. She did it but when she talks she has a condescending tone. It was as if we interrupted her doing something more important. Like as if we were a nuisance or she has something better to do. Definitely felt rushed! Had to visit Luv Bridal for two days (last sunday and now today) they had too many gowns i wanted to try on. And they let me. So i went back there after i went to tons of shops/boutiques. I wanted to visit a lot so i can make sure im getting the best dress. Sure enough, i found it there. Went back there and knew that this was the one. Was treated like a queen there and i tried on more than 10 gowns (by 5s) that was superb in quality AND intricate details were very elegant. The price that the rude associate quoted me in Kara's wedding to rent-- was the price for me to own a wedding dress (and have it altered) from Luv Bridal. They also have free mimosas and snacks. Unlike here. I hope the somebody takes action or is informed on how rude it is here. You would have gotten more sales than what youre getting now if only customer service is better here. The owner of the shop was so sweet, helpful, and patient throughout the entire process- I couldn't have asked for a better rental boutique to go with. My dress turned out absolutely perfect, as well as my bridesmaids dresses, groomsmen tuxedos, father in law's tuxedo, and my mother's dress ,which Kara kindly altered for a small fee. Since I know exactly what I want is the A line dress, she showed me couple of choice then we set our heart in the specific one dress. We did the made to order, Kim is very professional helped us to choose the fabric and style, she also give some pointers and good suggestions depends on my body shape. I feel very comfortable working with her and couple months later she called me to do the fittings. The design came out to be completely different, asked her to fix and change design. She charged me 500 extra and I refused to pay the extra. Amazing experience! The boutique is very clean and pretty. I felt very comfortable and welcomed when I arrived. You do have to make an appointment, but its nice because you have the place to yourself and they didn't make me feel rushed at all. The dress I fell in love with was already being rented on the day of my wedding (it was a mistake that it was out on the floor when I got there), so they called the designer in London and ended up having a brand new version of the same dress flown out by the designer. So even though the dress was rented, it was brand new and felt like mine. Impeccable service. This review is my custom wedding dress experience. A friend of mine had stumbled upon this place during one of her wedding dress searches and referred me to Kara. I had called initially to follow up about the email I sent which included a hand-drawn design of my dream dress. We may have had our signals crossed initially as I was not impressed. However, given what I friend had said about this place, I decided to give it another shot and visited in person. Wow was that an eye opener. Kara's place is tiny and if not for Roy's review, I would have totally missed it. Do not let that deter you. Kara is a pro through and through. One look at my design and she knew the type of fabric, silhouette, look and vibe I was going for. We talked about fabrics for what seemed like hours (I wanted to be a fashion designer when I was young and took some classes) and she addressed ALL of my endless lists of concerns from construction to design to fit. She makes every single dress in the shop and has an entire wall filled with wedding dresses and another wall filled with bridesmaid dresses. Kara did not hesitate to put me into a similar dress and begin pinning on some of the design elements so I can see the overall look live and in person. Her professionalism is evident in her willingness to take suggestions and will give her opinion when asked. She is very sweet and went out of her way to reassure me that my dream dress was in the right hands (of a 16-year veteran of custom bridal dresses!). As a sewer myself, I was pleased when I examined the craftsmanship on her gowns. I was sold. Time to talk prices - her price was very reasonable and much less than another custom wedding dress place (in Beverly Hills!). Kara was willing to work with me in terms of price - and offered suggestions on how to reduce the overall cost of the dress without sacrificing quality. I walked out that day without signing on but I knew I would be back - because the prudent thing to do when making large purchases is to mull it over for a day, right? That was Monday. Let me first start off by mentioning that I am wedding coordinator. I have seen so many different wedding dresses on so many different brides that I really thought it would be impossible to find my own wedding dress when the time came for me to get married. Previously, we've worked with many other bridal gown rental spots in Koreatown so I really didn't think of trying out Kara Wedding until I stumbled across it on Yelp. When I arrived at the store, I noticed it was a bit smaller and thought I most likely wouldn't be able to find what I was looking for. But I was wrong...after a brief discussion and assessment of my style and appearance, the friendly staff at Kara Wedding pulled about 3 dresses that she thought would be the most flattering on me. Each one I tried on was beautiful! But was choosing a wedding dress supposed to be this easy? I wasn't sure if I was making my decision too abruptly though so I decided I should look around a bit more. The next time I went wedding dress shopping (I took my brutally honest sister along), we stopped by at least 4 other stores just to make sure I wasn't missing out on anything. My sister thought the dresses at the other stores looked very cheap and was brutally honest on how unflattering they were on me. I had to agree that none of the other stores even matched the quality of Kara. So we went straight back to Kara and knew we were wasting our time looking any further. When it came time to making my final selection, I realized I really liked the neckline of one of the dresses but liked the overall design of another. Kara suggested that I go with the design I like and completely change the top half of the dress to match the other one I liked. WHAT?! Changing the design on a rental is an option? Not only did they customize the perfect dress for me, but she also found the perfect short dress for my engagement photos and custom designed my bridesmaids dresses with the perfect shade of mint...if you have been looking for mint dresses you know it's tough to find that pale shade of mint that looks good in person AND in photos. But Kara nailed it! My bridesmaids loved their dresses and I got so many compliments on both of my wedding dresses too. My now husband (who is even pickier than I am) absolutely LOVED them! I can't help but give Kara Wedding 5 stars. I would give them more if I could. I wanted to rent my dresses, so I shopped around Koreatown for about 2 months. I've checked out Tomato, Galleria Wedding, Wedding House, Wedding Time, and a couple others, and to be honest, they all weren't bad. But I decided to go to Kara, because in my opinion, they had the best quality, variety, and most importantly all at an unbeatable price. The store is quite small, but has a comforting atmosphere, and the dresses are top quality. I initially went in to rent 5 dresses (1 ceremony dress, 1 reception dress, and 3 bridesmaid dresses), but ended up renting 8 (1 ceremony dress, 1 reception dress, 3 bridesmaid dresses, and 3 more dresses for my photo shoot) because it all fit in my budget! I seriously didn't get anything close to this offer at any of the other stores. AND, on top of that, my ceremony dress was CUSTOM MADE. I'm 5'1, and very petite. I was having a hard time finding my dream design (I had a small budget but I still dreamed) - and they made it for me! I saw them make it from the ground up, so going in for fitting each appointment was so so exciting! All accessories were also included for each dress! (ie. hair accessories, earrings, belts, bracelets) On top of their wonderful service, I had a destination wedding so they shipped all of my dresses overseas in perfect condition (I didn't have to steam or iron any of my dresses - can you believe that?). I shipped everything in the same box right back after my wedding, because I went on my honeymoon the following day for a week. The best way to describe this dress is: bold, beautiful and elegant. Just like my lovely friend. This boutique is small but the selections are ample and Kim was helpful. Definitely book an appointment prior to arriving since they are constantly booked. The changing area was sweet and charming. There was a chandelier with two curtains on a small platform that created a pleasant experience for both the bride and viewing guests. I went to four different bridal shops in Ktown and decided to go with Kara. Honestly, they have the smallest but they have the most the variety of the dresses and the most unique, beautiful dresses. I have been to like 20 weddings and most Asian brides end up getting the mermaid style. I refused to be in one and wanted something different. All the other shops were pretty repetitive or the sales people were so rude, I just didn't want them to be a part of my big day. They were happy to schedule me in last minute for my friends and me on a Saturday AND also opened the doors on Memorial Day just for my mom and me. (She was visiting me, so that was the only day she was able to see me try on dresses) They custom make dresses, so if you really want something different, they can make it for you for about 1500 (for the style that I wanted, your preference might cost more or less). I chose a rental but she even offered to give me extra an skirt to make dress look completely different for the reception. I didn't even ask for it, I just told her my fiance likes ruffled skirts and said she would have one ready for me during my fitting to see if how it looked on my initial dress. She gives up to 3 fittings/alterations if necessary (most people only need one, but she is willing to do minor touches closer to the wedding) Veil and accessories are also included~ The sales rep is really calm and patient. She doesn't push you or try to use sales tactic to make you commit. I really recommend this dress shop over the other places where everyone carries the same dresses and are rude or push you to make a deposit. I was incredibly nervous about ordering a dress online, but in the time of COVID I didn't have a lot of choice. Originally for my small art deco wedding I fell in love with a Berta gown. I saw a replica of this gown on Kara's website that was much more affordable. They worked with me to take my measurements accurately over Zoom, and were very communicative. They tailored the dress just for me, and it came on time, incredibly well made, with quality materials and exquisite hand beading. My guests all thought it was a work of art and I felt it was much better made than other dresses I had tried on. After I got it I ended up purchasing a Spanx bodysuit as the top was semi transparent; Kara wedding was also willing to sew a liner for me and helped me with other alterations. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a dress. I feel like I ended up with something better than the original Berta I admired! read more

But, not 100% customers can love Kara and I am sure not all people who visited this place chose this shop for their wedding dress. So, I have been to galleria wedding, wedding house, shinbu, and atelier. All these shops are located in K-town and Kara was my worst experience. If we are talking about only the quality of their dresses, then I can raise my stars to 4. It is true that their dress quality is better than the other bridal shop, but shinbu and atelier have a superior quality than Kara. But since shinbu and atelier do only custom dresses, the price ranges are alot higher than here. So, if you want the superior quality then visit shinbu or atelier (especially atelier, speechless quality of dresses! Read my review) You won't think Kara has the best quality in Ktown. The reason that I am giving two stars is becuase of their customer service. The lady who helped me laughed (it was the point where I felt embarassed) when I told her about my envision. My fiance was there with me and he was so close to take me out. While I was trying the dresses, the lady complained how my body is blah blah blah.... I couldn't believe my ears. Why are you judging my body shape. Because I was so stupid, I just smiled speechless. And the dress quality did not impressed me like other reviewers. It was definitely better than some other bridal shops, but the previous shop that I visited literally had shocking amazing quality of dresses (and I chose that shop for my wedding dress). If you read other reviews of mine, I love to give 4 and 5 stars. Most of my reviews are 4 or 5. But this place, I can barely give two stars because my experience was horrible. I then showed her photos of a few dresses and pointed out the elements I liked for each. She quickly threw together a sketch, and it was very close to what I had envisioned. My only concern was I wanted to look at other bespoke options in Ktown prior to finalizing the deal. Three days later, we came back to discuss details and material with them, and the deal was sealed! If you're looking for a budget friendly bespoke option, this is it! The material may not be as premium as Atelier, but since I'm only wearing it for a few hours, it's something I can justify for the difference in price! Kara offers dress rentals from $850-1000. So much love for Kara!!! This is where I found my ceremony + reception dresses. I originally had rented my ceremony dress elsewhere and only rented my reception dress here. However, I quickly became disillusioned with that other ceremony dress and came here for a 2nd look. Best thing I did because I found my ceremony dress here too! Of all the places I went to in K-Town for dress shopping, Kara provided the BEST service. Seriously, no one here had a mean or irritated bone in their body. They were SO detail-oriented in altering the dresses; my ceremony dress especially had so much to fix. But, they listened to all my suggestions and worries and altered each dress to fit my body perfectly. Other bridal shops could learn from this... just sayin'. The entire rental process from my initial appointment to returning the dresses was so smooth and stress-free. My word of advice from dress "shopping" in K-Town is to pare it down to 3-4 places; a lot of these shops are a waste of time. I love this place! My boyfriend and I were looking for his tux for today around Wilshire and luckily came across this place after 3 disappointing shops. The store was fairly small so I'm glad we were walking. I think there's only street parking. We walked in and were greeted by a petite lady. We told her our situation and treated us so well, despite the fact that we were only high school students. There weren't many tuxedos because it was more of a dress shop, but we luckily found one that we liked. She didn't pressure us into renting it at that moment, but we did anyways because the tuxedo looked too good to pass by and we loved the service. So you're telling me that I drove all the way from San Diego for you to tell me you don't have an appointment for me, then first of all, not even look for me in the calendar to see if we had miscommunication and I was put down on another day, or offer me some days they were free that I could come back, or make room for me or tell me they were sorry. Kara wedding is THE PLACE to go for your wedding dress. I could not be happier with my dress and my experience with Kara. Initially, I didn't find a dress that I absolutely loved, but I really wanted to support her with my business because she was so nice and patient. I think I went back 3 or 4 times, and finally just picked a dress that was close to what I wanted, but not EXACTLY what I envisioned. When I explained how I wanted the top of the dress to look, she told me honestly that it would be really hard to change the dress because of the stiffness of the material. I was a little sad but I'm not high maintenance so I just let it go. But when I went back for my first fitting, she managed to change the dress to how I wanted it, and it looked BEAUTIFUL! I was so surprised and happy. She's amazing at what she does, she's accessible by both phone and email, and she really does give each customer her full attention. overall I'm happy with Kara wedding. We only had 3 months to make a custom plus size dress so I know that can be stressful for everyone but all in all they were very sweet and helpful. Price was great for a custom made dress I spent about 2,195 but again it was in three months and it was all lace AND I'm plus size so I need some extra fabric ;). They let me make payment along the way which was nice. The dress was very well made but I didn't like how the lace was cut and then reattached at the hem and neck line. I never thought I will be married one day, so imagine how difficult it was for me to get a dress! I did not know where to look at and so I started with Google research and of course I was attracted by the name of the shop! Maybe a sign! Apparently it was because at the first tryout, I found the perfect dress! The lady that took care of me was wonderful! Was a huge help, always asking me how I was and joking with me, ... I felt really comfortable.I rented my dress because like I said, marriage was not my little girl dream so I didn't see the point to buy a dress I will never wear again. You couldn't tell I was renting it, the dress was fitting me so perfectly! I only had compliment about my dress and I felt really great wearing it. I recommend this place without a doubt ! read more

Would give 4.5 stars if it is an option: 5 stars for the final result, 4 stars for the process. Got lots of compliments on the wedding gown and it does look great eventually. Kim did a good job recommending gowns after knowing the venue. (Went to another 2 shops and they just asked me to pick the ones to try on, while Kim at Kara actually made pretty good recommendations that I ended up choosing) A few suggestions: the pants for best man was still 2 inches too large after alteration, so recommend everyone to try on before the day of. My gown arrived late and I was told that 3 weeks was enough time for alteration but it barely was. The gown was very nicely fitted but the detachable drain was still too large at waist and too long, after 3 fittings. In general, still a good experience and would recommend to family and friends. read more

Sydnie's gown in all its awe and simplicity was actually several months worth of visits, designing, fittings and alterations. They made my wedding day so special! Kara wedding was the first place my husband and I went to look for our wedding dress and tuxedo. After we went there, we found we didn't even need to go anywhere else. We found the perfect wedding dress that was so pretty and fit me like a glove! The whole staff were so kind and helpful. Especially the owner who took great care of both me and my husband. She was so patient and really took her time listening to what I wanted. I felt so prepared for my big day and I owe it all to her and her staff. In addition she also gave me some great ideas for my wedding! It was a great bonus to my visit! If you are planning for your big day, this is the right place for you :) I think I visited Kara 3-4 times before the actual wedding day.I tried more than 5 dresses to find the best one that fits on me and fortunately selected one. I also had their custom made reception dress. Both dresses were super cute and elegant, all my friends, family, and guests liked it. This little bridal shop has many selections of dresses, hair pieces, and other wedding-related accessories. Irene and her staffs were so helpful and didn't rush. They only focused on me during my appointment. They were professional and tried to help me till the wedding day. I lost my weight within 2 weeks and noticed that just 1 day before the wedding. All dresses that I rented needed to be sized down, but Kara fixed dresses perfectly so that I can wear them fitted. I highly recommend this place to all future brides. I would have given them a 5 star if they were willing to negotiate price with me. They weren't. BUT... these ladies are the best. They gave you all their attention and really wanted you to look good in the dresses you were trying on. I spent a good 1.5 hours in here trying multiply dresses. Did not rush me at all. I would have bought the dress if I was not pinching pennies. Great place though. Would recommend for those who aren't as frugal as me! read more
