Each visit is met with great customer service and patience from the ladies on the floor and a few laughs because our non filter selves will stand there and crack jokes with each other as I am sweating looking for a dress because the walk upstairs always gets me lol!! My recent visit was a dress for my mom to wear at her funeral. My sister and I were indecisive for awhile after narrowing our selections down to the top 3. Meanwhile, the ladies were patient and never rushed us as we sat and pondered before finally feeling confident and choosing the perfect gown for our angel mom. Reading through the previous reviews, I can't speak for everyone else but this review is solely based on my own experience(s) each time I visit. I had a very disappointing experience at this dress shop. If i could give a zero I would. The customer service was incredibly rude and passive-aggressive from the moment I walked in. Instead of feeling welcomed, I felt judged. I was asking about a dress, and an older employee with blonde hair looked me up and down before telling me the dresses wouldn't fit me. I'm an extra small, so the comment was both unnecessary and confusing. It came across as dismissive and unprofessional. The staff also seemed very pushy rather than helpful. While I was there, I noticed other customers asking questions, only to be met with the same unfriendly attitude. Several people ended up leaving instead of continuing to shop. Such an odd and disappointing experience at this Bridal shop today. I brought a bride and 3 bridesmaids in to purchase a dress for an April 2027 wedding. The manager of the store refused to let the bride try on dresses because of a 6-month rule! (Basically your wedding can't be more than 6-months away) It was the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard! Lol Anyway, although the location/selection of the shop is impressive for dtla, I would 1000% NOT recommend this store. There are several stores that carries higher end selections -- this store carried the cheap versions but their "new rule" is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Haa 9 months out is not unusual to look for a wedding dress as you need to set the tone of the wedding. I wasn't going to argue -- dresses like theirs are a dime a dozen down there so we just left. She found a nice dress 5 stores down so their loss. Very disappointing as an event stylist, as I have brought/sent several clients in to purchase dresses from this establishment... not no more. Of course their attitude changed a bit when they saw that I was with them and not 4 young girls alone.... not sure if the sales team thought a set of girls were trying on wedding dresses for fun in the shithole of LA.... news flash, people only go there to find a deal haa. As an event stylist, my advice is to try other small stores in dtla before this one. Pretty much all stores carry the same dresses anyway-- we found the same styles approx $25 cheaper elsewhere, sales reps were very accommodating (although the sales girl at Trendy looked mortified when the older asian manager told me the aforementioned) and the other store threw in alterations of the bodice/sleeves included -- SCORE! My bride really only needs to pay for a hem and bussle so the new bridal shop saved her more, more, more!! Will NEVER have one of my young brides be embarrased & feeling discriminated against. I had such a disappointing and hurtful experience at this bridal shop. From the start, Ana (the cashier) was extremely dismissive and unprofessional. When I asked about certain dresses, she told me that "fat girls don't wear dresses meant for skinny girls." Hearing that in front of all six of my bridesmaids was humiliating and completely unacceptable. On top of that, throughout the appointment she was visibly judgey, making faces while we tried on dresses instead of being supportive or helpful. When we told her the color we wanted, she assured us it was available, but after going through the whole process and being ready to purchase, we were told they didn't actually have the color. From the start, Martha was extremely pushy and barely let us speak or share what we actually wanted. She chose her dress on Saturday and the dress was in on Monday. They're amazing my daughter's dress crown and petticoat was 850 and my dress was 140. I know some people have had some bad experiences here, but I think that goes with any store. We had an amazing consultant. She was attentive helped us pick out dresses didn't drive us to the most expensive one first we told her what we were looking for and told them what our budget was, and they were willing to work with us on a dress that my daughter loved. She suggested a gorgeous veil that we also ended up buying as it tied the entire ensemble together. Visited today to find a wedding dress for my daughters upcoming wedding. It was the very first bridal shop we walked by and immediately seen dresses my daughter loved. She tried on 3 dresses, and the 3rd one was a charm and she said yes to the dress! The sales associate that helped us was EXTREMELY kind & very helpful! I thought they were just busy and overwhelmed so I came back during the summer to look for a cocktail dress; they were still rude. During prom season my daughter and I went looking for her dress, she saw a dress on the mannequin that she liked and we couldn't find her size so I asked one of the ladies if she could try the dress on. I have been coming here for years and I never had a problem til today. Mind you, I bought the dresses for my bridesmaids here for my wedding back in 2009, and all my other cousins who got married before me have both their dresses here also with no problem. My mother got her dress here for my wedding and I loved it so naturally I wanted to check out this place. This store is huge with lots of selection of dresses. Down stairs is the bridal shop and upstairs is bridemaid, prom, sweet 16, and other fancy dresses. The workers Martha, Elsa, Alma and Moses was all very helpful on picking the right dress for me. My first time here - great selection. This is a two story building, worth checking it out. My daughter and her friend found their dresses in the colors they wanted. We saw the same dress, different color for $180,00. This store was selling for $280 I think? I advised the owner, an older gentleman that I saw it for the lessor price. He said, go back there and buy it. He was extremely rude, not only to me but to other customers as well, even a returning customer. Again, great selection but the owner is extremely difficult to work with. He can down to $160 for each dress. I know I over paid but again it was the right color for my daughter and her friend. Be prepared with the owners lack of respect for his customers. He marks up all the dresses 50 plus percent and all the staff says don't worry he'll give you a good price. I could do without the games but that's how he does business I guess. He looks very old and fragile but he's definitely not lacking when it comes to being rude to his customers! A TRUE GEM!!!! I came to Santee Street looking for my wedding dress. I knew exactly what I wanted but the other stores just didn't have exactly what I wanted for the price I was looking for. I went to Trendy after many other stores and saw a large selection of bridal dresses from the window. AFFORDABLE PRICES and BEAUTIFUL DETAILED DRESSES! I waited maybe 5-10 minutes for my turn to try on a few dresses. Unfortunately they didn't have my size for one dress I liked but the lady handed me another dress and there she was... THE wedding dress!! A stunning large brand named dress in this gem of a store! The lady's name was Alicia and she made me feel like a bride on her wedding day from helping me put on heels, decide what size vail, and make sure all my photos came out perfect. Without her help I wouldn't have found the dress. I'm so grateful for her and her enthusiasm to help. The entire store stopped and told me "THATS DRESS WAS MADE FOR YOU!!" I am knocking an entire star down for the rude and confrontational manager (super old man who doesn't speak English well) and because they only want you to try on no more than 3 dresses IN TOTAL. More on this below. The background is my mom and I were in need for evening dresses for an upcoming wedding. We found this store after checking out a few others nearby that were overpriced or not that great. This was our first time buying evening dresses in DTLA and we were amazing by the selections at this store! They have a HUGE selection in every color and style imaginable so we were super excited. They have all sizes so it was very easy to find multiple dresses to try on. The ladies/workers who help you try dresses on were amazing, especially Cherry! She was the best! So helpful and nice. (thank you, Cherry!!). Towards the end of our trip, my mom had a few dresses she wanted to try on. Mind you, she had only tried on like 2-3 dresses during this entire trip. The manager of this store (older man) walked to her and said you can't try on any more. I know he's the manager because I asked someone if the guy was the owner or something. He was kind of rude and confrontational, he literally came out of nowhere and confronted my mom. He said "how many dresses have you tried on??" I said "what do you mean? She's only tried on like 2-3 dresses." He said you can't try on more than 3. I was totally confused and bewildered. Then I said "wait, do you mean you can't try on more than 3 dresses IN TOTAL or you can't try on more than 3 dresses at a time?" I then saw the signs that said you can't try on more than 3 a day. Anyway, since I had already made my selection and my mom liked the first dress she tried on, we decided to buy despite his rudeness about 30 mins later. This place was so good! I got my bridesmaids dresses here for only $64!! BUT I did place the order for a different dress originally and come two weeks before my wedding turns out that dress wasn't going to make it in time so they had us all come in and have to pick an entirely different dress. The girls ended up being OK with the dress but not entirely happy bc we had our hearts set on the original design. Another thing is, my mom got her mother of the bride dress here, also loved it but the original dress she ordered didn't come in the color they said would come in so when it arrived it was a surprise to see a different colored dress. The lady told us that they did not have the dress we needed even though TWO girls tried on the ones we were ready to order . But this place yes it's a big huge store with lots of dresses upstairs but their customer service then you really need to work on it I went in again yesterday to look for bridesmaids dresses and ask information on how to order because my bridesmaids live out of state and some of them out of country they stated they didn't have the time to be answering annoying questions and that I needed to be ready to buy how am I gonna be ready to buy if I don't know how I'm going to order them since not all of us live in the same state!!!! I was able to get a couple questions answered after spending 20 to 25 minutes waiting around for them to be able to tell me that some dresses do come in certain colors and some come in different sizes which is a good thing but they told me that I needed to come back with all my bridesmaids and even then it would take between 1 to 2 weeks to get the dresses in which is a fine timeframe but because we don't live together they would have to come at different times don't waste your time just get everything from a different bridal store that they can accommodate you for your times and needs ordering online or also David bridal online works for brides maids that live out of state!!! This might be the biggest store in Santee Alley. The first floor is also bridal accessories and wedding gowns. The 2nd floor is mostly bridesmaid/prom dresses. I was here to shop for bridesmaid dresses. It was very crowded on an early Saturday morning, and it was difficult to find someone to help you. Most of the dresses appeared gaudy and tacky to me, there was just so much tulle, or sequins or glitter everywhere. Maybe it's just my taste in clothing, but I was also looking for a non-strapless, knee-length dress, and that itself is quite difficult to find. They do not have a lot of bridesmaid dresses with lace either. I did find a dress that fit my description, only it wasn't in my wedding colors. I was able to flag down a sales associate. I don't understand why she had to ask when the wedding date is first. Would that change the way you treat the customer? Who knows. She did tell me that my color is not available, and cannot be customized. And that the simple non-strapless, knee length dress is $120. WHAT? I can get a cheaper price online. I ended up very pleased with the purchase in the end, but I'm going to share the positive and negative issues I experienced while shopping there. I'll start with the negatives, because I like ending on a positive note. One bad thing about the store is that it's not very well organized. It was hard to find the type of dress you wanted, and the size. They're just everywhere. I also didn't like that they had so many mannequins with gorgeous dresses that they did not sell or find in the store. At the time I went there it seemed very understaffed considering how busy it was. In addition to that, a lot of the staff weren't friendly. There was only one staff member, she was blonde, who was kind and helpful. Also, parking isn't great there. I suggest arriving at the store almost as soon as it opens, it's super crowded (but I guess that's how you know it's a good store)! Now the positive aspect! The dresses, at least the ones I looked at, were so SO cheap! Especially because most prom/formal wear stores are pretty pricey. I got my lovely dress there for only 95 dollars! I was not expecting it to be that cheap. I also thought the store had a huge variety in styles, prints, and sizes, which is great; you're basically guaranteed to find a dress you love! They also throw in a little shaw that matches your dress for no extra charge. Another great thing about this store is the location. Right next door to this store is a great shoe store that's super cheap too! Everything you need for your prom/formal wear can be found in just one easy stop. The goal for the day was to purchase a specific bridesmaid dress i've been eyeing for my girls, my wonderful cousin had already scoped out a few places a few weeks earlier and got an idea of the price range for the dress. This store had given her the better price and obviously I was hoping to get the best price since i was getting 6 dresses. We went here early in our day and spoke to the owner who is exactly as he's described in all the other reviews. I told him I was willing to pay for 6 dress right now and what's the best deal he can give me? he gave me a number and i tried to get him to give me a better deal and as though he thought I was "slow" he typed the number into his calculator and put it in front of my face, then just walked away as though my business didn't really matter to him. I was pretty erked so we left and i was determined to get the dresses else where cause i was sure we could get it for the same price. We wandered the rows and rows of shops asking for the specific dress (oh, it really helped to know the brand and style number and especially if you have a picture). We tried hitting up the shops that had equivalent prices and even tried to go to the designer's shop but because it was Sunday, lots of the stores were closed. Our options were limited and it's sad to say that this store really offer a good price. For the dress i was looking for, it was almost 30-50 dollars less than the other shops in the area. Since I'm not from LA and i wanted to just finish this step of the planning process. we did end up back to the store to purchase the dresses. He was a lot nicer to us once he saw the money, even giving us compliments, etc. The dresses were not available in the store but it was really to be picked up within the week. Worst experience ever!!! Ordered my bridesmaids dresses 2 weeks ago drove an hour and half just to find out they won't be ready for more than 3 months!! The wedding is only 2 months away!! They never notified me this and I was beyond stressed from this. So I find other dresses , just so they can charge me even more money then what they initially quoted me on the same type of dress. I finally found dresses which the manager told me himself they would be ready for pickup to n 2 hrs, just to go bck and be told they weren't going to be ready today after all! Not only was it now later in the day, now I will be stuck in gridlock traffic all because of the moron manager who was extremely unsympathetic, unprofessional, and rude, Don't go here!!! The store has a large supply of dresses that vary in price range and style. This is a helpful if you need to buy your dress last minute. If needed, the manager can order a dress from high end designers four months in advance. The manager is open to price negotiation so make you ask for a discount. They are very busy and have limited amount of employees so they won't personalize your shopping experience. The best time to go is during weekdays or early in the morning on weekends.
