On most recent visit, the owner insisted my gift certificates were expired. Although correct based on her internal system, there was no indication on the gift cards of an expiration date. In addition, she thought it would be appropriate to charge full price after not honoring the gift cards. Paying full price twice is fun, especially when your appointment starts late. Moderne Salon and Day Spa was one of the best parts of my wedding. The whole staff felt like family. They took care of me for months leading up to the wedding with personalized facials and were always checking in on how excited I was. They did a Brazilian blowout that made my hair feel extremely soft and perfect for the big day. My makeup was natural and flawless. This was my first visit to the salon and I found it to be a friendly, welcoming business. Great atmosphere and clean environment. Special attention is paid to each client. Jessica is NO Artist . RIP-OFFArtist --yes. STAY AWAY from this FRAUDULENT shop. She is a talker--this is what she does best if you enjoy listening to someone run on about themselves. Brazilian Blowouts are a SCAM here--Dropped $350 here. The most unprofessional salon ever been to. Horrible Deal via Living Social!!! I have shoulder length hair and she applied an ounce of whatever product it was.I have thick hair. Never saw the actual Brazilian Blowout products in the shop. They had one flatiron between the two of us. Did not even use the flatiron for the end step. Everything I sensed about this place, these people were realized. Looked like a wild witch when they were finished. A process that is suppose to smooth your hair and add some shine for a few months never happened! I had permanent curly waves in the back of my hair from this treatment. Normally, I have slightly wavy hair. The process if it were true Brazilian and done properly would have worked great on my hair. Jessica is a certified CON ARTIST!! CAROL the OWNER participated in this SCAM as well, and is responsible for allowing it all to happen. Very Unethical and UNPROFESSIONAL salon. Everybody said I should go back to them to have them redo the procedure. I finally decided to contact them a month later. I asked they either redo the procedure or give me half of money back. The massage - I got Swedish - was basically someone rubbing oil on me. I asked her to "go harder" like 4 times. I did not pay for a deep tissue, but still. She doesn't know how to give a Swedish massage. She did get my back, though. I wouldn't have left without a good back massage. Ask her to start on your back first. She starts on your limbs... a waste of time. The facial was awesome, though. Get the facials there. The woman who did mine was pleasant and explained everything. She also helped with my skin, and its clearing up already. My friend was in the waiting room because she finished early, and they fed her! That's customer service. read more

I love going to my appointments at Moderne Salon! I see Carol and they have embraced me as part of their family. Jessica is an amazing stylist who has also died my eyelashes and does just about anything that needs doing. This is by far the worst salon I have ever visited. My appointment started late and the receptionist was rude to me. The same receptionist also shampoos hair apparently, and he was really rough with me. Not exactly a relaxing experience. My stylist was quite nice, but it seemed like she didn't really know what she was doing. My haircut was amateur (not so bad that I need a wig, but certainly not good), and I am planning on getting it fixed somewhere else once it grows out a bit. read more

I bought a Groupon for Moderne Spa. The Groupon was to expire May 19, 2013. I called them several weeks before and they could not accommodate me, or should I say they had no desire to accommodate me. I called Groupon and I was told they would have to extend the date so that I could make an appointment. When I called Moderne Spa back they told me I was misinformed and I should get my money refunded. I guess their business is doing so well they don't need any new clients? I wouldn't recommend this Salon to anyone who wants to be treated well. If this is how they treat you before you get there can you imagine how they would treat you while having services done. There are too many other salons who would welcome and appreciate new business - this unfortunately is one of them. read more

I started coming here to have my hair done by Carol and I can't believe how awesome my color is! Then I met the new massage therapist and also an esthetician! JoAnne, I am so grateful for the work you did on my neck and back to help me feel better and alive again! I've been suffering with headaches and back issues for years and no one has been able to focus and help me like that, I have to say whatever she did has helped a great deal. For the cost and the service provided, I must say it was not value. Massage was adequate, facial - rushed and no consultation about what was being performed. Would probably not be back or recommend. Staff needs to speak to their clients. Tell them what they are doing, applying and why. Felt rushed and unsatisfied. read more

I am truly disappointed to see the lousy reviews that are listed, and hope that they do not deter possible clients from checking out this salon. My experience yesterday was wonderful, from the moment I walked in and was warmly greeted. The salon itself was nicely decorated, stylish and very clean... With none of the "stuffiness" felt in some high end salons. Brittney and Linda could not have been more welcoming. It was my first time doing hot stone massage and I was explained each step as we went along to make sure I was comfortable during the whole experience. Next, Linda's facial was awesome. My skin is glowing today! I enjoyed the products used (My skin is very sensitive and responded well to Bioelements, a line I hadn't heard of before). Icing on the cake was the relaxing pedicure, shellac manicure and paraffin treatment I received next. My mind and body were rejuvenated upon leaving and I won't hesitate to pass along my great experience to others looking for a money-well-spent spa experience. Great job, Moderne! I don't know why it has taken me so long to put up a review about Moderne, I love this place!!! I see the massage therapist Deanne, they all call her Dee, and I cannot say enough nice things about her!! I recommend her massage to everyone I know. The whole experience at Moderne is always wonderful. When I call they always find a way to make me a convenient appointment for me, once when I was having a really rough and busy week they stayed open a little late just so I could have my hour massage. When I walk in, im greeted like an old friend by every staff member there. They take my coat, offer me tea or coffee, and sometimes they have yummy snacks put out for everyone. I always feel welcomed and appreciated there. Deanne is just phenominal, I originally saw her for a full body swedish massage. She brought me into the room and talked about my medical history with me. She explained that swedish massage would be excellent for my high stress levels and blood pressure, but that because of my previous injuries, all the areas id circled on the diagram showing where my pain and tension was, and how it was affecting my posture she thought a different massage would be better for me. She told me she would use light-medium pressure swedish massage on my limbs to encourage better circulation and give me the full body massage experience, but that she would spend most of the hour on my neck shoulders back and lower back using deeper strokes from integrated deep tissue massage. She always tells me that if I need more or less pressure just to tell her and when I very rarely do have to ask for a change she always does. She also asks me every visit if anything has changed, and where id like her to spend the most time. Even if I dont tell her though she always finds where the problems are. The room is always warm, and the table is heated. She has also turned the heat in the room way up for me, and explains that massage lowers blood pressure and thats why I can still feel cold in a heated room on a heated table with two thick blankets on me. She always makes me feel very calm and comfortable with her. After my first massage she gave me a copy of my treatment plan that said what I had complained of on my paperwork, where she found knots and what she did to them, what I should do at home after a massage, and how often I should see her to meet our goals. She said that if money was an issue for how often I needed massage (once every two weeks for 8 weeks to start, then we'd reevaluate) they could offer me a massage package for the four 60 min treatments at a discounted rate because the important thing was for me to feel better. She encouraged me to share the treatment plan with my dr and chiropractor to see if they had any input. No massage therapist has done all this for me before. So I researched it and found that the benefits of getting a massage twice a month were exactly what she said so I purchased the package and I'm soo glad I did!!! I now repurchase the package every time I run out, even though she told me after the 8 weeks that it seemed like once a month would still be beneficial now. I'm hooked now though, I look forward to seeing her too much to wait a whole month. My posture has definitely improved, I am way less stressed, my constant tension and pain faded away, and I'm just a happier person now. Shes also talked to me about meditation and recommended some excellent self help books during the massages where I felt talkative. She always plays really relaxing music, and has told me I can bring in my own appropriate Cd if I want to. I havent tried the custom aromatherapy massage yet, but just the regular oil always smells amazing. Go see her, you will never regret it!! I also saw a sign the last time that said new clients in each department get 50% off their first service this month, so I m excited to try other services too!
