I saw Kayla for a haircut and a few foils. She was very nice but the whole process took longer than normal. My haircut was very uneven. Color faded within a few weeks. I know that hair services cost a lot but I was surprised by the price which was more than double what I usually pay for full foils and a haircut. Despite having lived in San Francisco, and currently living in New York, I still go to Sarah at Twirl whenever I'm back in Rhode Island and in need of a haircut (most recently in November of 2013). Sarah always listens to what I want for my hair, and only gives suggestions when I tell her I'm open to them. That's very important for me because I've had hairdressers say they're going to trim and then take 3 inches off (not a trim!). Also, her prices are REALLY reasonable, $35 for a trim on my long hair. Having had her cut and style my curly hair in many different ways, Sarah has been the only hairdresser I've had that really knows what to do with my hair. But, everyone still has their own preferences, and you won't know if you'll like her as YOUR hairdresser until you try. read more

My wife and I have had nothing but the best of experiences at Twirl. Sarah and the Twirl Girls are accommodating and do their best to go above and beyond. Whether it's a color and highlight or mani/pedi for my wife or it's a men's cut for me we never leave anything but completely satisfied. I could not be happier with the services I have received at this salon. I have been coming twice a week for over 2 months and my hair has never looked soo good! I have received endless compliments on my hair since purchasing an unlimited blowout package. I am extremely picky about my hair and typically end up styling my own hair after a cut & color when I get home from a salon. Well those days are over!! I have been on a mission for many years to find a salon that does a great job of blowing out my very curly hair..and I have finally found that salon. I have been really impressed by the finished looks that walk out the door at this salon over the past few months. Wow..These girls can really do some hair! My days of spending an hour + on blow drying & styling my own hair are over! And special thanks to my fabulous stylist Gabby who is amazing at tackling my curly frizzy hair. Lovely and warm welcoming hair salon in Smithfield. I think they are the perfect salon for naturally curly hair that is 1a-2c primarily. They honestly were incredibly kind and loving and warm with my half grey, 3c/4a,l with patch of 4b gel hardened mess and listened to my tales of hair woes from 2009-present with humor and kindness, matching my stories with worse customer stories! While bonding and having actual hair talk therapy, they provided genuine respite along my natural hair journey. Some coaching and hinting were graciously received about how to blow dry and what type of product to apply before and during to my multi textured hair ....and .... it was actually taken in stride! It was a pleasure to be greeted and received without judgement and allowed to rest without pressure to upsell into a cut color or even a trim. I originally was supposed to get a color and cut and bow dry, but once they saw my hair and blow dried it out, they didn't even touch it! They were totally okay to let me leave with my crazy 2 color hair and apply my spray color and nurture my fragile locks back to health for another year. Honestly where can you find this?? I purchased a living social deal to get a keratin treatment here for $129 (keratin is a special conditioning that lasts 3-ish months and make frizzy/curly hair much more manageable and easier to straighten. I've had one other one done for $175 online coupon on Newbury St in Boston, and this was my second. And I refuse to pay full price- upwards of $300-, so I always wait for an online deal.) Made the appointment for 12:15pm, and I got there early, but they didnt see me until 12:30pm- slightly frustrating. The girl doing my hair was very nice and knowledgeable and did a good job trying to talk to me and be friendly, which I appreciate. She informed me that the living social deal was only for 1 ounce of keratin, which may not be enough for my hair so I might have to pay extra. I do not remember reading that ANYWHERE on the living social site so I was really frustrated, but she said she would try to use it sparingly and not use extra. The whole keratin process took her about 1.5 hours (which is half the time it took on Newbury St, so I am slightly worried that it will not last as long or be as nice as it was then). She never let the keratin sit in my hair and saturate (I sat for like 30 mins on Newbury St just for the stuff to soak in... but maybe this kind doesnt need to do that?) She ended up using a little more than 1 ounce but didnt charge me for it because it wast that much extra. And I have REALLY thick and long hair, so most of you ladies should be fine with 1 ounce. She also cut my hair... and I LOVE the cut- really cute layers especially in the front. The cut was $35. The salon itself was cute, clean, had a nice vibe, all the stylists were very stylish themselves, and there was a parking lot, and you could leave the tip on your credit card. If I lived anywhere near here, I would definitely come back for at least a hair cut. read more

Bad experience! My bangs were so uneven that I had to go back and they still are horrible! Also was told that what I purchased I could return as long as I keep receipt only to find out that this wasn't true! I was told by the receptionist that if I wanted to return the brush and had the receipt I could. The brush was never used. read more

New to the area so my girlfriend and I decided to try Twirl. After walking in, we were not greeted for 15 minutes. After finally getting to my consult the hair dresser suggested highlights for my girlfriend. Simultaneously I was getting my hair washed and she got soap in my eye! :( I was done and my bangs were so uneven.. I could have done it better myself. My girlfriend on the other hand was getting her hair dried and the color came out orange and streaky AND HER HAIRCUT WAS SO SHORT AND SHE CRIED ALL THE WAY HOME. After a long week of working doubles , I finally found time to sit back relax and treat myself to a much needed trip to the hair salon. I called to schedule an appointment at twirl hair studio at 9 am although I was pleased that they could schedule me right away I was a little annoyed when my hairdresser was 10 minutes late to my appointment. As soon as I walked in there were already several women waiting as well,and I watched every single one be take into a chair before myself. My hair dresser who's name was Sarah finally showed up and say me down in the chair and asked me what I wanted done , I needed a full color and needed my hair to be trimmed, she mixed my color and applied ( in a hasty fashion might I add) and then sat me down under a dryer for my color to set in. Apparently my hairdresser was double booked because she began working on someone else's hair while I was waiting under the dryer. After 35 minutes of waiting very patiently I began to think that my hairdresser forgot about me. It was only then that another girl who was not my initial hairdresser finally came up to me and told me she was going to rinse my hair , I don't remember her name but she was very nice and I could tell she was only trying to help. She then brought me back to her chair and told me that Sarah requested that she blow dry my hair. I don't know about you but when my hair gets cut I like my hair to be wet and not dry.I said I did not want my hair dried until it was cut. She dried my hair halfway through and then finally brought me back to Sarah's chair where she eventually came back and attended to my hair. She seemed to be in quite a hurry and then asked yet again what I wanted done to my hair when I had already told her. She kept complimenting my hair which is nice and all but I feel she was only doing it to make up for her crappy job. The whole time I was there I did not feel pampered and I did not feel that anybody really cared about my hair and I was annoyed the whole time. Instead of trying to get all the business you can and double booking maybe you should try giving your 100% attention to one client at a time. My hair turned out okay but it wasn't at all what I wanted, They charged me almost 100$ and let me tell you it was not worth a penny. The receptionist then asked if I would like to book my next appointment and I almost laughed in her face. I will not go back to this place again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I feel this place would have better potential if everyone would just slow down and take their time. It's quality not quantity people. read more

My shirt was ruined during my hair coloring session. Stylist did not take enough care to protect my clothing during the treatment. Not sure why they don't have capes available to change into. Especially if the stylist doesn't know how to be careful with color. When I discovered the staining, I was told hair spray would get out the stain. It didn't help. I called back. Very little sympathy and was told next time to bring a shirt that I could change into. Not acceptable. The overall experience did not meet my expectation. read more

Went in for a cut and color. The stylist did exactly what I said I DID NOT want....from the cut, color to the style out. This is the worst haircut I have ever had! Quite frankly I think my 4 year old niece could have done better with her crayola scissors. As for the color...not at all what I was looking for...there's a surprise right.
