Asked and confirmed multiple times if services / prescriptions were covered by my insurance and the front desk person said yes and it turned out they weren't. I went back to tell the and they were like oh my bad! Had to do my own research as the front desk person was wrong. Doctor didn't seem to care and explained with much complication I could take multiple medicines for multiple potential illnesses that I didn't have and I was very confused when I could just take the right medication when I get test results back. Also results take like 3 business days and are not done in house so you wait the same time as a normal doctors office. read more

The front desk was attentive and understanding when i didn't have my insurance card with me, and we were able to use a photo. Emmanuel, the X-Ray tech, was the best! Nurse and "doctor" (probably a) NP treat patient with sarcastic tone as if patient is lying. Doctor doesn't take patient seriously. Would give 0/5 if possible. Guarantee the people who work here would never get work at a 3/5 - 5/5 hospital. Can't speak for other locations but run from this one on knickerbocker. For an urgent care, this is probably one of the better places because everyone on the staff is very nice and I didn't have to wait long at all, I was seen almost immediately. The only issue was how the PA spoke to me. I fell down wet stairs in the subway and my foot broke, and she told me I need to be more careful in the future and not break my foot if I don't want to wear a cast. Like, as if it's my fault the stairs were wet? And I've never broken anything in 25 years, so yes I had a lot of questions for her because I wasn't sure what to expect. I have now been here five times. Four times out of necessity, and not a desire, because of my past experiences each time. Of course, who would go to urgent care out of desire? :) Let me get to the point, except for maybe two people; EVERYONE else here is just plain terrible, from a personality perspective. All FIVE times. It's like they have forgotten (or were never taught) how to communicate or deal with customers. This is not an isolated incident. Please read on for the latest tale. But let me tell you, today was our last day, guaranteed. The receptionists and customer service are outright awful. No smiling, no caring, no help; they act like they are doing everyone the biggest favor. There is a lack of understanding at this establishment that without satisfied customers, there are no repeat visits. I would much rather go to any other urgent care, but they are "supposedly" open later, until 6:30 pm on Sundays, so during these times, it is supposed to be more convenient. That's what they say on google, yelp, and in fact, on their own window. So I've been there when our kids have an earache or another urgent manner, where we can't go to their pediatrician. Literally, the definition of urgent care. They act like it's the biggest deal each time, and we are inconveniencing them. They seem to want to rush out and go home. and don't really care about patients. Today was the latest event in our overall experience with this horrible establishment, and the word "horrible" doesn't do it justice. My daughter had an earache, and I called to ensure they were open. They confirm until 6:30. I make my way there, and arrive at 6:17. As I approach the door, I see someone hurrying to the back. Weird, I thought. And sure enough, the door is locked. I knock and knock. Nothing. Then I see two people walking in the back, closing up in the back, acting like they don't see me. When I stopped knocking for a few seconds, they both each looked, to see if I was there at separate times and looked away when they saw me. I'm just appalled, and if you have a crying kid, you know the urgency to get them their meds and make them feel better. The lack of compassion is just jaw-dropping. Oh, I'm not done... Finally, a third person came from the outside and proceeded to tell me they close at 6, even though their door says 6:30. When I asked her why, she said they stopped seeing patients at 6, which wasn't the case before, nor did they tell me this when I had called. And I told her my daughter had an earache and I just needed antibiotics if it was an ear infection. She said, "we don't even have a Dr." "The Dr has already left," and "I don't even know what to tell you," "tough luck" (!!!!!!), who says this last line!?!?! Look, I get it; I came at 6:17 pm, 13 minutes before closing time. Let's even say everything is accurate, and you stop taking patients at 6:00 pm; you should approach your communication very differently than you did. Speaking with anger, a condescending tone, or anything other than smiling and caring is WRONG. ----- see this punctuation, that's a period. No IFs, ANDs, or BUTs come after this. You are working for the wrong business, or shouldn't even be in this field if you don't care for patients. Your entire business is situated around urgency and walk-ins. When you say you close at a certain time, then it is expected that people can and will walk in up until that time. If I have an urgent manner, I will look up the time, and walk in when you advertise to just walk in. If you stop seeing patients at a certain time, THAT IS THE TIME YOU CLOSE. Not after. ----- There is also a period here; see above for meaning. :) Please note there are MANY options for urgent care in this neighborhood. CityMD, ChaiCare, Northwell Health, Express care, just google them. All are within walking distance. Let them be your first decision, and this place your last. In fact, wait until the next day if you can, and don't let this place be an option at all. Here are some pointers for ModernMD employees, if you read this; -If you're going to stop seeing patients at 6, change your time on your window to 6. -If your provider/Dr is going to up and leave at 6/6:15, then change your hours to end at 6. -Patients who are sick, need to be cared for and treated with compassion. If you disagree with this statement, leave this job and work at a non-patient-facing or non-customer service job. -Smile -Be kind -Care for patients, or act like it -Stop complaining about people out in the open; it's unprofessional -When you make eye contact with someone, don't look away; at least acknowledge them -We have options, customer service matters, differentiation matters, especially for urgent care, Now, as I tell my kids when they have anger, you all at ModernMD Bushwick, take a cleansing breath and hug someone. If you get here after 8 am you'll need to scan a QR code to be put on a waitlist, esp for covid testing it seemed like this was the case. They said they only do PCR testing at the moment. I got there at 7:58 for a non-covid related medical appt. Was ~6th in line and had to wait about an hour in the waiting room to be seen by a doc, most of the people there in the AM seemed like they needed covid testing. Besides the wait, the doctor was really compassionate and concerned about my situation and was surprised I hadn't come in sooner. I was out within 20 min of seeing the doctor with an RX. Besides the annoying wait time, it felt like the nicest med interaction I've had in the last few years at an urgent care facility. read more

They made me jump through so many hoops, including being on hold for many hours and eventually having to go into the office in person, to receive results for standard lab work they administered, stating that the results were "sensitive" and that they could not properly authenticate my identity over the phone and yet took even fewer steps to authenticate my identity in person than they did over the phone. Literally no other provider in NYC requires people to go in person to receive this kind of lab result. Never going back, especially when there are so many other options in the area who don't play games with their patients. read more

The receptionist and medical technician were great, however the MD/APP was literally clueless! My son came in for impacted ear wax. The "doctor" walks in wearing a flannel shirt and mom jeans. He says "I'm the doctor". No name was offered. He looked to me and asked what brings you here today? I told him my son could explain. He's 14 and rather articulate. I only added that my son has a history of wax buildup. Immediately he states that he is not good at irrigation. I asked if we should leave and go to City MD. He says "let me look at him" and that he could refer us to an ENT. The doctor asked my son to open his mouth. He looked at his tonsils stated they were enlarged and immediately declared oral antibiotics were needed. He took a quick glance at my son's affected ear and stated he has no wax buildup. In one breath he says he is not good with irrigation and would send us to an ENT. When I questioned his rationale for the antibiotics, he decides to try irrigating the ear. I declined this. He said we'd void the visit. He told me to try City MD. We left immediately! Horrible service in an underserved community. I am thankful that as an RN I knew better than to let him try anything on my child! The doctor bore a striking resemblance to a character seen on Law & Order SVU: Teddy Hawkins. Hands down the best experience at an urgent care. I came in at 11 and was seen literally immediately after checking in - I didn't even need to sit down. My healthcare provider was so reassuring and helpful. Had a rather interesting experience at this location. This past Tuesday I visited the clinic to get a PCR covid test and flu test which resulted in a positive covid test. I was discharged with no issue. My symptoms that have persisted have been a cough, sore throat and congestion in the face/head. Last night I spit up a tinge on light colored blood mixed with my phlegm so I felt it necessary to visit again to have it checked out. The doctor who saw me is named James Cooney and he is the most politically charged doctor I have ever come into contact with. After listening to my breathing and determining that my lungs sounded fine, he goes off on a tirade about the coronavirus saying things like "I don't care what the politicians say but this was manufacturered and screwed around with in Wuhan." Seriously. He even went as far to say that most physicians now are ignoring CDC guidelines when it comes to advising patients about self-quarantining. I couldn't believe the words coming out of his mouth. He never actually looked in my mouth or throat at all but seemingly used this visit as an opportunity to spout his pandemic conspiracy theories. Who gave this man his medical license? Who chose to employ him at this location? I spent my $70 co-pay to visit this location with an actual problem and feel like I have no answers and a pretty troubling story. read more

This review is about 3/4 of a year overdue, but better late than never! We had the best doc (Jessica with her lashes on point) when my boyfriend and I came in due to horrid cat bites and scratches. We were trying to bring in and foster/adopt the cutest cat from outside, but she wasn't having it with him. We didn't know much since she had been out on the streets for so long (fast forward, she has a loving home with us now and loves him). During times of COVID, they had safe social distancing practices, which was reassuring. The staff were attentive and helpful from the second I walked in. In just 5 short minutes after registration, I was brought to the examination room. The medical assistant was professional and quick. When the doctor came in, he listened to all my symptoms and made sure I received a thorough examination. Due to my symptoms, the doctor made sure I received an EKG for precaution to ensure I don't have anything more serious. Everyone, who helped, made me feel comfortable and relaxed. I walked in crying from ear pain at 8:23pm on Wednesday. I was charged a $100 deductible when I arrived. Dr. Watson Baptiste saw me and told me there was nothing he could do for me and that I needed to go to the E.R. because of my intense pain. I asked if I'd get the refund and him and the receptionist lied and said they would refund my card. I now see the charge plus a fake report that I should "drink fluids and take (some med that I wasn't prescribed)." I was not prescribed anything. Scam. I spend the next 4 hours in the emergency room suffering. read more

Low wait time even on a weekend, etc. But I brought my baby in with a high fever and said she was prone to ear infections and the doctor checked and said there was no infection, then prescribed a bunch of other stuff. They also mentioned that they were going to swab for the flu but forgot. At our regular doctor the next day it turned out our baby had extreme ear infections in both ears. So while ModernMD wasn't an unpleasant experience, it was completely pointless. read more

I went here to get covid tested and had the WORST experience. I waited in line for 4 hours with my friend and I just barely made it in right when they were about to take their last patient. There was still a long line wrapped around the corner and the rude ladies at the front didn't bother telling anyone to leave because they wouldn't be seen. My friend was first in line and I asked them if she would make it in too. They said they didn't know and blew me off. Incredibly rude women. Wow I am impressed. Took my 84 year old mother to the Knickerbocker Av facility. Staff all friendly, efficient and competent. Facility immaculately clean and comfortable. The PA who triaged my mother was amazing, she was so caring and compassionate. She strongly recommended my mother go to the Emergency Room at the nearest hospital due to the concern that there might be some serious issues with my mother's condition. What surprised me the most is that THEY RETURNED HER CO-PAY because they didn't treat her. WHO DOES THAT???? I WAS BLOWN AWAY. Would definitely come back here. Update - even though this medical group couldn't treat my mother because of the severity of her issues, they called three days later to ask how my mother was doing.
