Hey, you don't want to use this company for your dental work! They don't have in-house dentist. They have part time and temporary dentist that are not responsible for the work they do! There ordered by non-dentist office manager that directs and sets prices and step procedures and process! The quoted price changed from beginning to end and not given a copy you can read or understand of what you have and paid for! All in there codes! They'll verbally tell you how and what they did but won't give you a copy of summary of all the charges for work done! The best part of this story is!!!! They make your smile and teeth look good! Oops! Only to have an oral surgeon remove all the teeth in the mouth! The reason given was not sealed correctly and found all the teeth were grounded down to small! Told they were doomed to decay and break off as they did in weeks after they were all finished! Only eight had the crowns either break off at the gums or fall off! Two after a couple weeks we're glued back on which didn't hold!! Went for a talk with the dentist which has a regular practice in Stockton Ca. That did the work. He apologized in private and told us he was told how to do the work and just get it done! There way! He quit the position there and couldn't be reached afterwards! All the teeth cost $20K at this place! No one there would help with fixing there work. The manager would not talk to us or return our phone calls! We went to another dentist office to have them repaired! The dentist on coffee rd., Modesto told us can't fix any of the work done!! X-Rays don't show through the veneer's the teeth shapes or condition! Found some loose and at the bases of others decaying from not good preparation and sealing! Referral to a specialist was next! After an exam his opinion was he couldn't work on them and guarantee success to keep all the teeth! Suggestion was a removal of all the teeth and now have false teeth! $18K for this procedure! Went to an oral surgeon next. His opinion was the same! Can't be sure what's under the veneers until removal of them! The result was the same as two other dentist! Decaying, cracked and to small for support! I bet you can guess what was next! All teeth were removed and now adjusting to false teeth! Fun Hugh! It's the worst thing that's ever happened to me, I went for a regular cleaning I always do and Dr Rigel Smart begins to offer me treatments that I don't always need....I look at their attitude of wanting to sell their treatments,He only cares about marketing he doesn't care about my health, as a patient they want to charge the insured as much as they can. He offered me to stay as a Hollywood actriz with a smile of 40,000 and "I just went for a regular cleanin" Veronica the manager and Dr Rigel Smart locked me in a room and were pressuring me to sing a documents. the two of them were forcing me. I really liked DR. Lopez, he seems to care and spent time when I was there. However, if it's outside of normal cleaning he'll refer you out. I was sent out to an endo for a crack, then sent back for some other doctor to extract it. Zero follow through afterwards. He refused to work on my 7 year olds teeth. The longer I went the less I was able to get it in. They rarely answer the phone, You have to say it's an emergency or else they're booked months out for a simple cleaning. read more

I am terrified of the dentist. One too many less than pleasant experiences as a kid left me running for the hills when it came to thinking about having anyone poking around in my mouth. Unfortunately, the decade plus that I avoided the dentist did a number on my teeth. Brushing and flossing will only do so much, for so long. I had visited a dental office last year, and I immediately felt off about the whole place. So, I switched to this office based on the reviews and I am so glad I did! The entire staff is really great. I have no idea where they were able to find so many genuinely pleasant people! Ive been in on several occasions now, and the receptionists remember me! I feel like an actual person, rather than just another patient. So far, I've had my wisdom teeth removed, as well as one other, plus some smaller fillings and other work done. I always feel comfortable and everyone is always ready to thoroughly explain the procedures in terms I can understand, which is nice. I would very highly recommend this place to anyone who used to be like me, full of fear and anxiety about the dentist. My daughter went to have a tooth pulled and a implant put in they charged her and did not put in her implant in. If this is the way they do business its not very good. I can't say anything about the new dentists here, but I did see Dr. Jasmine or Jasleen Kaur, I believe that's her name, a while ago and it was horrible. I've been to many dentists all throughout the state and this particular appointment and doctor was just awful. I booked a cleaning appointment early in the morning. I went in, the doctor asked me a few questions regarding how I feel about my teeth and what I like and don't like about dentists, etc. First of all, I know that trick. Second of all, why would you need to do that if you're a competent and honest dentist who ultimately cares about patients and their teeth? So she puts me in the chair and examines my teeth. She says, do you know what gum disease is? Well, you have it. You're going to rot in hell like your teeth. Okay, it wasn't like that, but it was like a sermon continuously telling me about gum disease blah blah blah. Seriously? I've been to a periodontist and he said I only had 5% bone loss if any. He did not recommend any treatment. Lastly, nobody even cleaned my teeth. They offered to clean half of it and told me to come back another day. What the hell is that? I left and told them I would book another appointment. No way in hell would I ever go back. Run to another place!!! read more

Saw the four star review so I wanted to get some work done here. The call was about 20 mins and I was left on hold for about 15 out of the 20 . Whoever the receptionist or phone associate is should learn some customer service etiquette. I called to inquire for an appointment, beyond the hold time every time I got back on the line with her, she spoke to me as though I created a hassle. When she asked me about my specialty request form she stated I had to drop it off at the office physically, not until I asked if email or fax is okay she then confirm "that's fine". When I requested she give me a minute to grab a pen she gave a huffed over the phone - "are you ready?" Finally after giving me a list of what they would need from me and my dentist referral she said I can get you a chart. I never been to this office, I could have been a loyal new client - she is my first impression - I ended up cancelling this whole inquiry. Doesn't matter how great the dentist work can be , you'll lose customer with staff members who do not treat people with respect. read more

I have PTSD and difficulties in going to dr dds but I had the most positive experience at this office, Starting with Cheryl the Hygienist, So personable made me feel so at ease, Love her. ,, Then Dds Smart , The best ever, I was really impressed at his enthusiasm for progressive dentistry , He showed me the digital process and how it is so exciting as he can better serve the patients . I was comfortable, the entire staff friendly. Can't say enough re cleanliness , The payment options are flexible and so happy that it was a no pressure sales person selling me more expensive treatment plans, I was given a printout of three options to take home and decide the best for my needs, The overall experience was great. Part 1 of more to come... Terrible customer service for a 1st timer. Staff was very helpful when they realized it was a new elderly patient ($$$) and never asked for written authorization for her son to share and receive personal information. My elderly mother went to the dentist appointment and was overcharged for services with no explanation. When the insurance company called the dental company they received no call back. I called and spoke to a gentleman named "Corey". He shared personal information about my Mothers visit and confirmed how much she was charged. He said he would leave a message for someone in "billing to call back". No call back received. I called the office and "Myra" put me on hold for 7 minutes after I told her I wanted to dispute a charge. "Myra" got back on the phone and said "I need written authorization to share information about your Mom". Funny! The gentleman "Corey" did not ask for "Written Authorization". "Myra" said we do not have a "Corey " that works for us. I confirmed the phone number and it was the same phone number. I will have my Mother fill out the "Written Authorization"form and keep you posted on the outcome and refund. I have had true customer service oriented people offer to call my Mom and get authorization over the phone as she has difficulty reading and getting around the city. With COVID-19 you would think they could resolve this issue over the phone. Ridiculous!!! More to come, but stay away from this place if your looking for a dental office!!! The readers of my review should know that I have worked in the dental industry managing dentists and therapists, am trained in public health and understand the quality standards of what is considered poor to exceptional. Modesto Modern Dentistry in my evaluation ranks as one of the best facilities in Stanislaus County. Why? First: because when you walk in the door you can note its order, cleanliness, and airy bright feeling. Two: the receptionists are welcoming. Three the timeliness ( at least in the early morning as I choose to always go for the first appointments) of being checked in and routed to the first station of work ( many times X-RAYs first) is spot on quick ( only waited a few hours). But best of all---- in this facility I have had the most thorough X-Ray exams with new equipment and an excellent technician Angie plus I have an exceptionally bright, authentic, and well-trained dentist ----DR Rigel Smart who follows correct protocol, listens carefully, answers clearly, and then when he works on your mouth, is gentle. He knows the art of communication and he makes sure you are aware you can have him stop at any time to rest, to express what your needs are. He does not rush you through the service ( or do you feel like you are just an object he is working on!). He makes you comfortable. I have had extensive teeth work recently , choosing this dental office over a few others in town ( who I will not name because I found their services to be not up to par). We , the customer have our choice. And, I choose now ONLY to see Dr Smart--- a local born and raised Modesto man and one trained at my alumni school----the University of Pacific School of Dentistry. He has been practicing three years, knows modern dental techniques and is thorough. What more can the patient ask for? read more

I attended my first dental visit at Modesto Modern Dentistry on January 20th at 10AM. I arrived 15 minutes early from my scheduled appointment time. Once inside, I was politely greeted and welcomed to the office by Natalie at the front desk. I let her know I had an appointment and that I had completed a simple registration/ questionnaire that was emailed to me when I scheduled the appointment. She thanked me and at this time she began explaining a few forms which needed my consent and signature. I was more than glad to do so as she clearly explained each of them to me and was asked if I wanted copies for my own records. I then received my copies of the forms and I was also given a folder in which was information on Dr. Kaur who would be my dentist. The check-in process was done and I was invited to take a seat in the lobby. As my appointment time arrived so did Dr. Kaur, who politely greeted me and introduced herself as my dentist. I followed her inside where we had a private consultation. She had some questions for me in regards to my dental history. She was respectful and attentive to all of my questions and concerns. A few minutes later we were done with the consultation. Dr. Kaur introduced me to Nina who would be taking some X-rays and photographs of my teeth. Dr. Kaur informed Nina for specific detail instructions according to my dental work. I felt comfortable to go on to the X-rays and photographs knowing Nina was informed about my personal dental work.Nina took me into the X-ray room where she did the X-rays and photographs of my mouth and teeth. Besides being very polite and patient. I couldn't help but notice how clean Nina and her work was. Everything that was used had a plastic barrier and was disinfected --I only notice this because I work in a similar environment where cleanliness and sterilization are of upmost importance. She made it easy for me to smile for the last photograph. Nina walked me over to my last stop. The dentist chair; where I would meet with Dr. Kaur again to discuss my dental health after X-rays and photographs. Dr. Kaur greeted me again and we began to discuss my personal options and the outcomes of each along with any questions I had for her. In regards to my specific dental care, Dr. Kaur introduced me to Helena the dental hygienist at the office. Helena was polite and respectful. I'll add, she was well informed of my personal options for dental care and was very informative in describing her specific process for me. At this point Dr. Kaur and Helena introduced me to Ashley who would explain to me the financial aspect of the work to be done. Ashley introduced herself again and picked up right where I left off with Dr. Kaur and Helena. She knew all the work that had to be done and had the finances mapped out for me. She demonstrated the cost and benefits on a sheet that made it simple to view and understand. Explained clearly, Ashley asked if I had any questions. It was all clear to me. Dr.Kaur then began to work on my teeth. She made it routine to check on how I was doing during the procedure. I didn't feel anything at all. I was very impressed to say the least. In a matter of minutes my fillings were done and I was very happy to hear it. The quality of dental work was there thanks to Dr. Kaur. I made sure to see Natalie at the front desk to schedule my next appointment with Helena. She was more than glad to and gave me a card to remind me of my appointment date and time. . Overall, I was beyond pleased with how well coordinated my visit was. I did not have to repeat any information from one person to the other. They did all of that for me from the point I checked-in with Natalie at the front desk and spoke with Dr. Kaur in my consultation. The office is beautiful, clean, and the staff professional. They overcharged me $349. My visit and my daughters should have been $40 all together. Once the insurance cleared in February I had to call 3 weeks in a row to try to clear it up. No one ever called me back. It just happened I caught someone finally on March 4 & cleared up the matter. I was told 3-4 weeks for my refund. When 4 weeks came and went on April 1, I started calling. I called every day at least once if not twice a day and always left a message, marked urgent, for the office manager Maria. I never received a call back but finally on April 10 I got a hold of her. She told me she would call me back in 20 minutes. No phone call back. I filed a complaint with my insurance on April 15 for them to check into it. When I finally got ahold of Maria after that, she told me they had doubly submitted it so they were putting a rush on it. They called me on April 26 to say they were FedExing my check and it should be there by Monday. When FedEx finally did arrive the postmark was May 3. They mailed it a week late. It was only my portion of the refund and they shorted me $2.00. I called to check on my daughter's portion and their response was "she's a minor so that was a mistake, we have to resubmit it under your name and they need to review it". I am now going on 10 weeks of waiting for a refund check that I highly doubt they would've noticed I overpaid if I would not have been on top of it. I feel very unimportant and this has been very unprofessional. I don't like making complaints so I've tried to stick to the facts. read more

The staff is amazing! I hadn't been to the dentist in about 4 years so I was a nervous wreck, but everyone was so kind! The receptionist took great care in scheduling my appointment (she even offered to try to get me in sooner). The hygienist, Leslie, did everything in her power to ease my discomfort and keep me informed on her process. Dr. Smart was very knowledgeable and had excellent bedside manner. He talked me through everything he was doing, and I was so impressed by the way he treated his staff. The only negative was the wait time, (a little over an hour in total) but it's completely understandable considering how inundated they are with patients returning from quarantine. It's also worth noting that I would easily recommend Modesto modern dental to anyone I cared about. The dentists here care about your health and your level of comfort first and foremost. If you don't need a treatment you don't get it. Unlike several offices I've been to before, the dentists here have mad no attempts to pad my bill. In fact they've saved me well over a thousand dollars on my first visit alone. While I can't say every ones saving might be quite as big, I can say from personal experience that they have a payment option to suite just about anyone. They were also very honest, they said that they would not have an orthodontist until October. They were very knowledgeable about my type of insurance. Great office staff. Terrible dentist. Waiting in the lobby for my first appointment, three customers came to the front desk and complained that they wish they had been given information before they came for their appointments. one poor mother had her daughter with her she was almost in tears that she had to pay for an office visit when nothing was done and she had incorrect information before coming in. So I go for my appointment my dentist Dr. Amro Eljhatieb recommends that I see a prosthodontist or else his only help would be to pull all my teeth and get me full dentures top and bottom. The most ridiculous advice I've ever had from a dentist. Removing 11 upper teeth when my concern was 4 broken lower teeth and 1 broken upper. I had a bad toothache next to a broken one. so I allowed them to extract a broken tooth and the sore tooth neither of which got stitches to close the gums and the dentist knew that I was planning on getting dentures. So I see a prosthodontist we work on a $13,000 denture implant. He also told me that bone is gold and if I get any more teeth pulled at Modern Dentistry try to have them leave the bone intact. He was also concerned of why there were no stitches put in after the teeth were pulled considering I was planning on dentures. He warned having good extraction and good stitching was important for good denture fit after the teeth extraction. I returned to dr. Amro in hopes that I will be able to have my crowns and extractions done at his office in preparation for the denture implants. He sits me down and it a very Stern voice tells me that his only recommendation as stated before it's full dentures upper and lower if I want to change that procedure I will need written recommendations from the prosthodontist. These guys have a one-hour Crown making machine and in my opinion if you're not interested in getting a crown they're not interested in working with you except to pull all your teeth and give you crappy dentures . again some of the worst advice I've ever received from a dentist I have alerted caremore and they have opened a grievance case. I also went to the CareMore local office and talk to the receptionist about speaking to someone regarding the grievance and she said that she just had someone from Modern Dentistry come in complaining about their service the day before. I see a lot of 5 star ratings here but they're all for crowns if you have any work that needs done plan on getting a crown or plan on getting your teeth pulled. Also on my way out the door I heard the receptionist telling an elderly woman that there oral surgeon is subcontracted to the office and if there's any problems with the surgery it will be needed to take up with the oral surgeons office... Very elderly woman hesitantly agreed but I don't think she understood what that meant they're subcontracted oral pulls teeth with no stitches breaks bone rather than spend the energy to loosen a tooth and pull it out clean. Then leaves gaping flaps of flesh to be irrated for months by the dentures, a simple stitch would have prevented. Ashley called from the office she seems great. we're going to reschedule with another dentist. And informed me the treatment plan on file is not anything like dr. Kerr told me.. read more

Today was my first visit and I was so nervous. The dentist isn't my favorite place! Especially since I need a lot of work. I was seen by Dr. Smart and Im pretty sure I was in contact with every other employee in the office as well. I didn't get everyone's names but they were ALL great!! Dr. Smart is very educated and thorough. He went threw every issue and made everything simple enough to understand. I've never been to a dena office and received same day treatment! This was a huge plus for me!! Vernita was my first assistant and she was very nice! Especially with X-rays. You know some assistants can be pretty aggressive :/ I believe Veronica is the office manager and she was exceptionally helpful when it came to pricing and assisting with my payment plan and answering all my questions. I didn't get a chance to get the sweet pregnant girls name. I liked her enthusiasm! she's really good at connecting so that was nice. The few other assistance were also very nice! The star is for quickly scheduling appointments which I appreciated. However downhill from there. Started off with me waiting 45 min past my appointment time followed with a. Lot more waiting around. The setup of the office allows for other patients to easily hear your private medical information Dr smart did not make me feel like he took into consideration my medical history or personal concerns They want to sell you the latest and greatest ie most expensive stuff here. I don't like feeling like I'm being upsold when it comes to my health or talked down to for that matter. I'm a college educated women and I have never lapsed in my dental care. I had anxiety and stress for 2 days after coming here before deciding wait a minute I don't have to put up with this I can give another dentist my patronage! So I'm leaving. If you are considering this dentist please reconsider! I wish I had paid more heed to the reviews on here that warned of this behavior. To start off going to the dentist makes me nervous so I make every excuse not to go. I was referred by a friend to check them out. I had the best experience ever with them today. All the staff is very nice an knowledgeable Ashley the office manager and Natalie the receptionist right from the start makes you feel like you're part of their family also Natalie did a great job explaining the cost of each procedure needed, Alyssa one of the dental assistants was very nice an professional she explains everything that is going on an what is to happen next so u don't have any hidden surprises after talking with her my anxiety subsided and I wasn't nervous anymore, Dr. Kaur performed the work that was needed she did an amazing job I didn't feel a thing and I was in and out took care of business an very friendly. Last but not least Helena the Hygienist did the scaling and root planing "deep cleaning" very nice and takes her time to make sure she does an excellent job also numbs everything so I didn't feel a thing absolutely great job. This is unquestionably the best dental office I've ever been enrolled with in my adult life! And I'm not exactly a youngster...(Moving on.) From the front end to the back end, every single person who's helped me has been exceptionally kind, knowledgeable, warm, proficient, and professional. The two women at the front desk are a joy to chat with, too, while they are assisting you. And one thing I *really* appreciated about this office is that after explaining my dire financial situation, they did not continue trying to pressure me into dental work that was unaffordable at the moment (whereas every other office I've experienced has done this).
