This company does not deserve a -5 stars. All of my goods, furniture and boxes are covered with mildew and mold. This morning, I was told by the Manager: "...you are just a tenant and you think that you are more important than you are...", then hung up the phone and refused to answer when I called back. On Saturday, January 24, the Manager allowed a tenant to block all of the aisles that led from the entry door through 2 more aisles for several hours. It was impossible for any tenant to get in or out of the building with anything. In fact, the Manager allowed the tenant to block aisles for other tenants to get to their goods. 3 other tenants were equally upset with not being able to get in or out. I spoke out and asked, then demanded, that the aisle be cleared for other tenants to access their units. I called on Sunday, January 25 to complain to the Owner about the situation and the Manager's position. Same Manager, as she represents herself, answered the phone and informed me of how unimportant tenants are to the Owners. The entire situation occurred, because the Manager waived the rules for 1 unimportant tenant in prejudice to other unimportant tenants. It is expensive and not worth it. read more

Eileen quickly got me setup with a unit at a fair price for the area. Unit was clean and safe. I fully anticipate a slow rent creep but that is common to effectively all storage units companies. For now however, I am plenty happy and will update if changes. read more

Nice clean facility. I only have two issues. One, the elevators are not secure. Anyone can get into the elevator. Not sure why they can't be secured like the doors and gates. Then, there are plug in air fresheners everywhere which is very overwhelming. Makes me wonder what's going on in there that they need to mask it with all those air fresheners. read more

First class service. The cleanliness of the facility is top notch. They were able to get me in same day for a great price. I need/ use self storage in Monterey and the surrounding areas all the time for business storage purposes and I can tell you without a doubt modstorage is the best self storage facility in Monterey county. read more

Highly recommend! I asked for an estimate via Yelp and within an hour it was received. My wife and I drove down to the Airport Road location and Krys helped us. She was fantastic. She described the prices and available units. She gave us a tour of the facility. It was beyond expectations. Floors, elevator, buildings, and the unit itself was absolutely spotless. Contract was easy and she set us up for access right away. Pricing was exactly as I received in our estimate. Everything explained in detail. We went with a 3rd floor unit as the access is wonderful. It had high ceiling too which was great. Drive up to the exterior door and you see a HUGE elevator with high ceilings. FYI, we shopped around and the pricing is very competitive. That stated I've never seen such a nice setup across the board. Again, Krys was SO nice. If you are looking around the Monterey Peninsula for a storage unit be sure and give her a call. read more

I went looking for moving supplies at J & J Auto Body, which is the local U-Haul franchise in Monterey. On the U-Haul web site, they are listed as carrying moving supplies (boxes, tape, etc.). I drive all the way over there to find that they don't carry any of these materials. They directed me to Airport Road Self-Storage across the street that has U-Haul authorized retailer sign hanging in the window. I go in expecting to get fair prices on moving boxes, plus I had no choice at this point. I leave the store very unhappy because I feel like I have been price gouged. Today I bought packing supplies from another 'real' U-Haul retailer only to find that the materials I had bought from Airport Road Self Storage that I was referred to by the U-Haul store had been marked up over 100% above the U-Haul prices. This feels like a bait and switch to me. 1). The U-Haul store advertised that they sell moving supplies 2). They refer me to another place that charges twice as much. read more

I got a decent rate for 6 months, and they raised it a little after that just like they warned me, but I only stayed another month. Staff was helpful. Place was clean. Parking is minimal. You have to buy one of their locks when you rent the unit. One of the hall lights by my locker was out for 6 months. Good location near fairgrounds. read more

We stored our belongings in a 10x10 unit. We needed to add more belongings than would fit in the 10x10 and got another unit 5x5. Rob worked to get us a unit on the same floor and close to our 10x10. Whenever we visited the unit, the premises were very clean and I noticed that they do a lot of painting to make it look fresh. They also provide 4-wheel carts that are a big help moving stuff in and out. Rob, in the office, was a really big help; always making sure that we were happy and if we needed anything. I searched around for lower cost units but they gave us the best price. They have an anti-pass-back gate system for security that allows 24/7 access, and you have to use your code when you exit. The location was perfect for us as our temporary residence was only about 5 minutes way. read more

I love this place! Robert and Jesse were a joy to work with. On our tour of the place, the first thing I noticed is that it smells so good! There is a ton of security. Cameras everywhere and each unit is individually alarmed on its own. It's very clean and feels extremely safe. I would recommend this place to everyone. read more

What has happened to Airport Road Storage?? I moved here 16 years ago and it was privately owned and operated and outstandingly clean and organized. In the past year we had to again store some excess furniture and it's really gone downhill. The personnel are nice but walls are nicked up in addition to burnt-out lighting, broken carts with flat tires, a filthy bathroom and huge increases in cost. We moved out and I will never again recommend this once dream-storage facility where there was great security, white walls and excellent carts and elevators. Sad to see it was bought out by a conglomerate and is now like other like facilities. read more

Business sold, new owners are cold and impersonal. Rates have increase 20%. Communication with management is difficult. After ownership change, there were multiple issues with billing, that took several calls to resolve. Changes are made in terms and policy without notification. I have been locked out of my own unit even though account was current with auto-pay on credit card. read more

My initial rental at another location did not go well. The rental guy must have been new and put me down for an "in town" rental. When I arrived to drop off the rental at the airport location, U haul wanted a 350.00 drop off fee. "Jessie" went above and beyond to get the fee erased! I'm a college student that only recently moved to the area for school. A girl in one of my classes recommended this place- all I can say is they have OUTSTANDING customer service. The girls that work in the office are so sweet! The facility is SUPER clean too. I'm tempted to say you could eat off of their bathroom floors! Was going through some difficult life changes and needed to store a full house of furniture and my prized classic car as well. It was Super Bowl Sunday, I had to find an easily accessible , safe, and affordable place to store my items and I had to at least locate and rent a space on this day. After phoning several self-storage businesses and either not finding them open, finding them very expensive, or them not having the space I needed to store all my items, I began to stress for a minute.... I then phoned Airport Road Self-Storage and they answered the phone, had an initial space that I was able to reserve, and they informed me that they had a manager on site until 5pm Sunday that could help me with my particular detailed needs. I preceded to race to Airport Road Storage (just ten minutes from where I lived) before closing to chat with the manager. I met Rob. First thing he said was "take a breath and de-stress, because I will solve all of your storage issues". He asked what I needed and proceeded to spell out various options that he had for me. I found the perfect site for my furniture and for my classic car, with a bit of a discounted price to boot! Rob did what he said he would do and more. He definitely took my stress away! I was able to secure my 2 spaces and get home in time for the 2nd half of the Super Bowl, minus the stress thanks to Rob of course! I recommend anyone who may be a bit stressed finding a self-storage to go talk with Rob. He's guaranteed to hook you up and make storing your belongings a bit more of an easier task. read more

You get what you pay for. This company was everything it said it was. They were very professional. They took extra care to make sure nothing would get damaged. They were on time very friendly and extremely easy to work with. They brought enough crew to do the job and took care with all our belongings from the very expensive to the inexpensive. The crew on the other end of the move was just as great. They made sure to take care to make sure everything fit in our storage. When done we felt like we made new friends.... My mom recently died and my sister and I went in to the local Uhaul branch thinking we would drive the 20 foot truck ourselves. Yikes. What were we thinking? We discovered that within the branch there is this lovely local moving company. They are not only sweet, amazing and affordable, they turned what could have been a nightmare into an easy task. So welcomed when I still in shock from my mother's death. They not only packed up my mother's things I wanted to move to LA, but packed up all of her other things to various charities and took what was left to the dump. They also have a cleaning business and brought them in and did such an amazing job I got my entire deposit back after my mother lived in her condo for 17 years. Now, that is unheard of. They got stains out that if left there I would have been charged for new carpet. Marlene and Jessie also rearranged their schedule to accommodate me immediately as I was on a very tight schedule and had to return to LA in a couple of days. They were not only lovely people, but so fast and so efficient. I have moved many times in my life and this was the easiest transaction by far. They went out of their way to be helpful as they knew I was also overwhelmed and grieving. In no less then ten minutes after meeting them, they were on the road following me to my mother's home to give me an estimate. What service!!!! These people care about your things and your time and give you value for your money. Look no further, I promise you they will make moving so much easier.
