I was looking into getting a different storage unit at a different facility. I decided to talk to the property manager to see my options before moving. I decided to stay at this specific Public Storage facility specifically because of Wendy. Not only did she deftly offer me options that were within my range, her service was swift, efficient, and friendly. It is incredibly evident she is proficient and skilled at her job. She absolutely has my trust and I couldn't imagine going to a different facility without a person like Wendy at the helm. read more

Signing up was easy, Wendy was a Gem. Took business from the marina storage places just because of her kindness.

One thing that I don't like about this facility is the inability to bring your own lock and key. Who is to say that the managers aren't making copies of all of them for themselves to break into units after hours. I got locked out and hired a locksmith on a Friday so I needed a new lock. By the time I accessed my unit the next day, there were already signs of a break in. Not only that, but Wendy is being very uncooperative about providing me with recent date and time logs when my access code was used to get into the building. This My access code was used after hours in December when I didn't pay for that feature until January, so how was someone able to do that? She told me that I could't have 24 hour access and didn't give me a reason. Now she is evicting me even though my rent is paid on time. She said it was because of too many problems. I have it figured out. My next letter is to corporate so I can tell them exactly how you operate and why you need to get fired. read more

This place is clean and secure, but... brace yourself for CONSTANT rent increases. For my 5x10 space (rented in Dec 2018) rent stated at $111. Ok. Six month later it increased to $142. Not cool, that's like a 33% increase. Six months later (Dec 19) they informed me its going up to $178! GOODBYE Public Storage, hello PS competitor. read more

We have had a space here for the past 5 months. This place is poorly maintained. Smells of urine. Lights are broken/burn out. Staff does not replace them you have to do it yourself after the manager gives you a bulb. At times we have had to step over extension cords placed in our path that are attached to lamps in units. The large rollup door has been broken for most of the 5 months leaving the units ez access and unsecured. There are tenants in the units. I brought this to the office attention and (they are watching a few) . The temperature is not controlled as advertised. Cooling system is rusted and inoperable (see photos) After 5 months the unit cost has been raised by 30% ! That's a $80 dollar per month $960 per year increase over our original rate! There are many RED Public storage locks on many units that will be SOLD or perhaps held for ransom until paid in full. The late payment fee is over $50 per month. We have never missed a payment because of auto pay. If your considering renting a space here be aware and consider the long term risk. Our best advice is to think short term and be sure to have your own renters insurance prior to moving any valuables in. Or simply find another location to secure your valuables. The facility is very clean and easy to access but only limited hours thru the day. The customer service was great the first day when I signed up. After that my timing was horrible. Every time I went to the office there was a "be back later" sign. I was also told there is a 10 day grace period for payments, but apparently not on the first payment and was charged the fee with no exception. I was told that they pro-rate the last days when moving out of the unit, which was changed so I paid the whole bill for 4 days. Again no exceptions. read more

The majority of my belongings were stolen from my large, climate-controlled storage unit in this Public Storage in 2014. Total losses approximately $20,000. Police report filed. The lock on my unit (sold to me by Public Storage) was NOT broken. I suspect someone knew how to pick the lock and that it was an inside job. The main entrance door to the units was frequently broken and not locked. I was refunded none of the money paid for storage. I spoke to the regional manager after calling several times-was offered no apology, no assistance, nothing. I was told this had never happened before. I seriously doubt that. Disheartening. And the biggest issue is the total loss of trust. Update: Police report filed at the time. The officer asked me if I was sure something was stolen (the facility was almost empty but it had been filled, so yes, I was sure). They did not fingerprint. They did not follow-up. It was a loss and that was it. I had no recourse and no help from management or local law enforcement. Cameras captured only 2 weeks of time and I was told I needed to know an exact day and time to review; I had not been to the the storage in 3 months. So the cameras were useless. read more

My first time rented a sturgeon unit and had to do it in a hurry. Juan the manager was extremely professional, personable and informative. Unit was the perfect size , clean and easily accessible. Couldn't have asked for a better first time experience renting a unit!! read more

It closes at 9 but tried to get in at 8:30... first the damn fleas in the building. And now they are cutting the time when it clearly says 9... not happy with these people. And then they raised my rent because of some upcharge fee. Not going to pay for something that is not well taken care of or is going to cut the time. Not worth it. My experience there is poor. They raised my rent $40 after 5 mos. Elevator doesn't work so your locker isn't a available to you during the hours you paid for. They don't answer the phone. It looks good and they will rent you a unit but after that no customer service. Buyer beware. read more

On the plus side this is a fireproof steel and concrete building about ten years old. Prices have risen steadily over the past several years and continue to outpace inflation by a lot. In my case I must locate in the north building where parking is reduced by storage of an old bus, a camper trailer and a van with expired registration and a flat tire. Frequently there is no parking at all and you must block someone else in. Carts for customer use have lost wheels and bearings, are getting rusty and few in number. Management seems either unwilling or unable to handle unruly and discourteous customers and will not move the stored old vehicles to more spacious parking area. read more

Some broke In to our storage, they didn't seem to care! If I had the money to move out of there I would, this place is not safe

I found this storage facility to be clean, well lit, and security conscious. There are always a large amount of wheeled carts available to move your belongings in/out of your unit from your vehicle. I have not seen any that are missing wheels/bearings that the previous reviewer discussed. All buildings have number pads which require a code to gain entry. Aisles are wide and well lit by lights that come on automatically when you pass under them. You are required to buy a small lock that fits in the unit's locking mechanism and you can place another lock on this to get maximum security. I have found the employees to be very polite, professional and helpful. There is plenty of parking that can become busy during peak periods. The web site offer great on-line rates, much better than from the office. I am totally happy having my things stored at this location. read more

I can't think of a single complaint about this place. Picking and choosing a unit was simple through the online site. Before I committed to a size an employee showed me their options. The staff is always very nice and helpful. It's always clean. And, I like the convenience of paying online and having the option for automatic bill pay. read more

Thank you Public Storage for wasting an hour of my life in your Sand City, CA Office. I showed up at 4:40 PM way before the "least 30 minutes before closing time on your move-in date to make sure you have enough time to complete your rental. The location's office hours are: Monday - Friday: 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM Saturday/Sunday: 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM." I showed up just for Serena to tell me that she was to "busy" to help me check-in to my unit that I had reservation for today. Supposedly the courtesy call this morning was for an appointment that they never said it was an actual appointment. Thought you guys were just being nice and doing a follow up call to see if and when I would come in. At no time Serena told me it was an appointment and that I had to be there by 3. As I did tell her I was packing my items and I would get there around 3 o'clock. But definitely not later than 5:30 PM that she told me was the latest possible time to check in. I asked for the manger at which time she told me that Stephanie was off duty. I called your 1-800 number just to be told that the District Manger and Regional Manager was unavailable and that you had no authority to do anything about it. After sitting in your office for 30 minutes on the phone with your representative, Serena realized that I wasn't going anywhere and decided to text Stephanie which she promptly came downstairs and told Serena to check me in. Wow was that so hard to start off with? Then she proceeded to tell me that my 10x12 unit that I had reserve was not available and there was a computer glitch. Wasted another 10 minutes for her to figure out how to use the system. I heard at least 2 different stories about how it was a glitch and how she didn't have a 10x12 unit available. After that she a 10x12 unit for me. Your front desk customer service representative needs to be retrained and your check-in policy and customer service. Your check-in policy needs to be clear. Cause there's obviously conflicting information on your confirmation email and your staff. The best part was that she spent more time telling me how she couldn't help me check-in and than explaining to her manager than it actually took her to check me in. Don't bother replying with some generic sorry message. Give your representative some OJT on customer service and time management. read more

I was told they prorate on last months rent if you leave before your rent is up, no true at all I pulled the full bill. They raised my rent by over $100. When I first signed up online said first months rent was a dollar which is not true they charge me 160 then the next month it went up to 200 them when I went to leave by the end of May my bill was over $360 a month. The manager is rude. I ended up giving stuff away, I posted on Craigslist and people took my from me. I got charged over $200 for doing that for the agency they said that they had a haul it away. When it was someone else's stuff on the curb not mine. This place is a total rip off I will never use them again. I had pods come so I could do self storage elsewhere, They gave me a hard time saying that the container had to be off the premises within 12 hours. I finally had pods call them and say they could not pick up til the following day. They never answer their phone at all no matter what time of day you call. Corporate doesn't answer either. I was locked in the storage unit for over an hour and a half because the fire escape the doors don't work. read more

The whole public storage company is amazing! I looked everywhere for a unit and other places lost my reservation and weren't willing to help at all. I went first to the one on Calle Del Ray and talked to Patty who is amazing. She helped me find out what size unit I would need and then referred me to Jay to get one at this location. They had one in the size I wanted at a great price. Jay walked me over to see the unit and I felt extremely safe with all of the security that I saw. All in all I am extremely glad that I came to Public Storage and definitely will recommend them to others. read more
