We've been fans of Moe's in Trussville and frequent customers since they opened. But the manager on the Saturday before Mother's Day changed all that. Terribly rude, loud and beyond inept. After an embarrassing episode in the restaurant, we arrived home, started putting food out for the family only to find out she'd given us the wrong order. Better than Irondale Café, better than anywhere I've ever had them and I am a Irondale southern girl. The breading was perfect. The dip sauce was perfect. They were sliced correctly. I had a taste for some smoked wings and these did not disappoint. Moe's has some of the best smoked wings (my opinion). I ordered inside but there is a drive through. The staff greeted me upon arrival. I looked at the menu but I already knew what I was getting. Of course, I ordered their smoked wing platter, which comes with 2 sides and cornbread. I selected baked bean and collards. Both were seasoned nicely but the cornbread was hard. They have made significant updates to the interior & exterior since my last visit. I like the changes they have made. I was able to watch bama football while I waited for my food. The gentleman brought my to go order over to me. I highly recommend the smoked wings. Moe's is our Friday Night Lights Go-To during the season. You can get in and out of here quick enough to get over to Husky stadium for a good seat. I can't tell you how the BBQ is because we always get either the catfish sandwich or the grilled mahi sandwich. You can make any meat or sandwich into a combo with a choice of 2 of their daily sides. The sides have a pretty decent variety for a BBQ place or you can exchange the 2 sides for a pretty fresh side salad. The red ranch (BBQ ranch) is pretty good whether on a salad or a dip for their smoked wings. Ambiance wise... it's a BBQ joint. First, it's worth noting that this establishment is staffed with good people. Go out of your way, southern, nice folks. Even though we came in right before close, they were very pleasant and eager to assist. Our food came quickly and was delicious. The smoked wings are the best wings around by far. Cooked to perfection, juicy yet crispy, and well seasoned. The pulled pork is up there too. My husband got the catfish plate and loved it. And Banana pudding was the perfect finish. I was very happy with the affordability, flavor, convenience, and experience of dining here. I knocked one star because the bathrooms were dirty. In hindsight, there didn't seem to be many people working, and I don't really want someone handling my food while cleaning the bathroom, but I do wish it had been a little cleaner. We ordered takeout from Moe's on a Saturday evening. I figured they would have been busy but I was surprised to see that there was no one there. I'm talking ghost town. This made me a little nervous because I began wondering why is this place empty? Is the BBQ not good? Is it due to construction on Hwy 11? I can tell you that the BBQ is pretty good. The pulled pork was pretty good, not gonna say great, but it's better than get the mysterious McRib at McDonalds. I had the Redneck Nachos which was essentially home-fried potato chips topped with queso, tomato, onions, red and white BBQ sauces, and pulled pork. It was supposed to be an appetizer to share, and quite frankly, you could have had multiple people eating it as their main course. I also got the pulled pork sandwich, Bama style. Bama style consists of red and white sauces, marinated cole slaw, and pickles. This came with two sides. I am a regular customer since the restaurant has been in Trussville. I picked up my order which was the Wing Platter. I get home and open it and see that all of my wings were flats. I called back to the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager. The young lady stated that she was the manager/Chloe. Her response was, you didn't get charged extra for them. We usually charge a dollar extra for special requests. They sometimes make a mistake in grabbing the wings so that's why there were not flats and drumettes. I am very disappointed with that type of response from the management concerning customer service. I clearly made her aware that I would not be coming back. My boyfriend loves Moe's BBQ. Like love loves! Sometimes I wonder if Moe's comes before or after me on his list of loves... but I digress. I arrived right at 11AM on Saturday when they opened. There was a vehicle parked in the drive thru.. no one was in the car! I pulled to the speaker and started saying "hello, hello?" and got radio silence... Okay?? Pulled my car around and went in. They were a disaster that morning and were running around crazy. I placed my order (two plates) to go and waited patiently for the food to be ready. Once it was I took home to eat with BF. The cashier thought I had ordered the platter and had to re-do order at the window, so I double checked it looked correct before leaving. The turkey was tender and moist with a good flavor. The ribs were slightly dry to me, but my family thought they were good. A solid choice for BBQ in the Trussville area. I've been here a handful of times in the past couple years, but I'm just now getting around for the review (sorry). I'll include the past experiences in this review along with my last stop here yesterday. I came here for a lunch meeting. Walked up to the counter to order and went with Smoked Wings (with two sides). I got fries and banana pudding. There is a list of about 10 different sides you can chose from ranging from potatoes to veggies to desserts. I think they've got great wings. They hickory smoke them then flash fry to perfection. I've got them the last few times. Other times I've gotten their BBQ sandwich. Get it Bama style and they will put slaw on the sandwich. It's a nice touch to an ordinary sandwich. The plates come with a grilled cornbread slice. It's a nice touch to the plate. I like it. The banana pudding is definitely different then most I've had. I think I tasted cinnamon in it, but not sure. It was good, but not like what momma makes. This is a solid choice for someone looking for something to eat in Trussville. On Tuesdays kids eat free. I don't even write reviews, but they've earned mine. If I would give this place a negative 35 I would do so immediately. I wish I would have taken pictures. This place is absolutely disgusting. Food on the tables and floors, BIG balls of dust in the air vents (that literally hovers your food. Imagine dust settling in your food) and the employees are extremely unsanitary. If the dining area where your customers eat looks nasty, I just know the kitchen where the food is being prepared is just as frightening. My husband and I ordered platters and as one of the employees prepares to bring us our food I'm observing him. Prior to bringing our food, I witnessed NO washing of the hands and constant rubbing of the face and nose. I watched him dig in a container that had UNWRAPPED plastic silverware with his bare hands and place it on top of our food. One knife, one spoon, and one Fork. The only utensil that was wrapped was the spoon and that was placed on top of our food as well. Absolutely horrifying and will never ever give this place any business in the future at ANY location. I've eaten at Moe's a lot. They are usually good. I tried the brisket which is only served on Wednesday. The plate is $15 with 2 sides. The brisket was very fatty. I could only eat about half of the portion. The other sides (sweet potato casserole and skillet corn) were very good. The cornbread is always good. I'll not be spending the money on the brisket. Moe's BBQ is a favorite of mine. I visit here once or twice a month, usually on my way home from work. I came here twice this past week - once for lunch and sat down inside the restaurant, and once grabbing some food on the way home. The drive through was fast, and the staff friendly - which is the norm for them - never had a problem. As far as the sit down visit, I was waiting on a prescription to be filled and came and got some lunch instead of driving all the way home. The wings were delicious, though a bit greasier than normal. Sides were great, and enjoyed a bit of basketball on the TVs before I left. The sides are small but that doesn't matter because I'm full and I still have a full plate. He got catfish and wings (4pc) the wings are smoked so they are crispy, with mac n cheese and fries. I got the ribs (3 bones) and wings with baked beans and mac n cheese. And it came with a sweet cornbread... mannn. We had the redneck nachos too. I'm not a fan of the white bbq sauce. Every bbq restaurants need to take a lesson on how to actually produce good smoking bbq, but Moe's doesn't need that lesson since it meets my expectation on what bbq should taste like. My first time, I was blown away on how good the food is. I would've wrote a review sooner, but I wanted to wait and give my true feeling about the place my second time around . I'm surprised there wasn't any cars in the drive thru since I got there during the rush hour traffic coming home. I knew I was in for a treat after smelling the fresh smoke coming from the smoker. I ended up getting the same bbq combo I've had the last time except I got the collard green instead of baked beans. Every food item on my plate was more than good, it was excellent. It's a good thing they don't add too much bbq sauce on the ribs since you wouldn't been able to taste any of the seasoning. There bbq sauce does have a little kick, but it doesn't be overbearing for anyone that can't tolerate spicy food. This doesn't take away my opinion on the restaurant, but when I'd order some banana pudding, I was expecting a bigger container, not the same size as the side items come in. Hopefully, they have more than just one size of banana pudding. In the end, I'll recommend anyone to try this place out if you're craving ribs. read more

I enjoyed a salad today with some of their smoked turkey. Delicious as always! It's served with the white and red BBQ sauces and I added their vinaigrette. This comes with a side of cornbread that looks to be fried on the flat top. Soda comes with it as well. I also enjoy their wings and ribs when I opt for something heavier with their variety of sides. I love this Moe's! Their smoked wings are so good! They come with red ranch dipping sauce that's fantastic, cornbread and a side, too. The mac and cheese is pretty good but can sometimes be dry on off days. My husband and I eat here at least once a month and have never been disappointed. I get the smoked chicken sandwich with the white and red bbq sauces and it is one of the best BBQ chicken sandwiches by far. The sweet tea is always fresh and not overly sweet, which I love. This is my least favorite bbq place in the area. I feel like they have hired a few more friendly employees, but the bad ones are still just as rude. I feel like the inside is always dirty and not well cleaned. The food is decent. The pricing is good. We have never tried their smoked wings, which I know is usually a favorite.
