I have been here a number of times over the years since they opened and tried a number of different items off the menu. Overall consistently have been happy with everything I have eaten, but I will say that while still pretty good the burgers are not as good as they were early on. One of the big draws for me has always been the outdoor patio area that is shared with the other businesses that are part of the Trussville Entertainment District (TED). The covering over the area keeps you out of the direct sun but still has a very open air feel. On my most recent visit I got the Feral Smash Burger with Cheddar instead of American Cheese. I ordered the tots for my side because I swore that I had gotten them many times in the past. Looking back at all my photos, clearly I was mistaken. Since I am not a big fan of sweet potato the bartender brought me fries instead to go with my side of Beer Cheese which is well worth the added cost. Depending on when you go, you may have to go inside to order at the bar for the outdoor seating (such as I did today). Other days when the TED is busier and peak times you can order at the outdoor bar. For solo lunch dining I prefer other options in the TED but Ferus is great for groups and outdoor dining. I am sure I will be back especially when my daughter comes to town since she likes to refill her growler with the seasonal sours. read more

I went to this restaurant on yesterday with a committee from work. I had never heard of this restaurant and I've never been in this part of Trussville before. I was pleasantly surprised by the entertainment district where this restaurant is located. It was very nice and seemed to have adequate parking. We were in a private room in the back of this restaurant, which had its own bar area. It was super nice and I think that if someone is looking for a place to have a party, you should definitely check it out. Currently visiting here for work and my friend brought me to this cute place!! There is plenty of outside seating with a huge screen (great for game days). We sat at the bar due to it being a bit chilly though. Our bartender was great (I can't remember her name) but she let us try a few beers and was very welcoming. It was also trivia night so unexpected FUN!! We didnt stay for the whole game but it was fun while we were there. To eat I had the classic Feral Burger with double smash Pattie's! First time trying Ferus and it's an awesome brewery. The entire area where the Ferus is located is beautiful. It can make for a cute date night, or time with your friends and family. We decided to sit at the bar which was a nice size. The Ferus also has outdoor seating and another bar, which is a plus. We didn't try their food since we were pretty full when we got there, but the next time we visit, we definitely will. Their Fallen Down Triple Berry brew was delicious. We had a great lunch here with friends over the weekend. We didn't have any trouble getting a table at 1:00. Lots of parking in this area so that wasn't a problem either. I had their cranberry cocktail which was delicious. I really liked it. For lunch I got the campfire burger. It was really good but was missing the fried jalapenos. It was not spicy at all so that was a little disappointing but still a great burger. The fries served with it were really good too. Service was really good as well. The best beers they have on tap however are always the fallen series. You can order and pay by phone but to clear an open tab backed by credit card by phone, I had to either walk all the way back or they add a 30% charge. The chicken tenders were so over cooked they were almost chocolate color, not to mention the off putting taste. The $14 burger is now 1/4 pound and you have to pay $3 more to get an actual burger to eat with an extra 1/4 pound "patty". I passed. My wife and I visited Ferus for dinner and drinks on a Sunday evening and will absolutely be back again. We were greeted and seated shortly after arriving. I ordered their Hoppy Blonde and my wife had a bourbon with Diet Coke. For a starter, we split the southwest eggrolls which were incredible. For entrees, I ordered their street tacos with fried chicken as the protein and she got the feral burger with double patties. We were both highly impressed with our meals. Ferus was really good! We got in after church on Sunday and our waitress was really great. We had a variety of the hangover burrito, chicken and waffles, chicken tenders and the kids grilled cheese. We finally got a chance to come by and give this place a try for brunch. I loved the style of the brewery. Definitely different from what I have seen around town. Our server was friendly and helpful, and we were sat quickly once we arrived. Also, they made sure we had drink refills in a timely manner. I forgot to take a picture, but we were also convinced into ordering the lemon beignets, which I loved! It made up for the fact that I wasn't too thrilled with my meal. My husband loved his meal. He ordered The Lion, which is fries layered with gravy, bacon, and a fried egg. He said he would definitely come back and have it again. I had the chicken and waffles and it was not my favorite. I typically love chicken and waffles, but this waffle was crunchy and had a weird flavor. The chicken was good, but wasn't great either. I'd like to give something else a try. Parking was easy on a Tuesday afternoon, not sure how it would be during prime hours though...yikes!! I ordered the strawberry rhubarb sour which was amazingly delightful. Hubs got some dark stout and said he enjoyed it. For nibbles we had the maple glazed Brussels sprouts and the pimento cheese app. Everything was simple and tasted just like you'd think it would. So me, the wife and my daughter decided to try Walkons in Trussville because we heard of good things. It was not busy whatsoever. The hostess acknowledged us and we decided to sit at the bar. The bartender was VERY unnattentive. We waited and waited on drinks and food and it was still a no go. Instead, we looked up other places around the area in Trussville and decided to go to Ferus Ales for the first time. We were greeted instantly by a friendly staff and ordered some drinks and food. The beer was really good, as was the Cesar Wrap, chicken tenders and the fries were good and crispy. The standout out, however, had to have been the popper burger that I saw this gentleman with a bun, dress shirt and multiple tattoos make, lol. This is a very cool place. We received excellent service and the food was good. Smaller portions which I prefer. We sat inside, but there is a very nice outdoor space complete with a sound stage. Perhaps I chose this location during an off time. But there beer selection was minimal and the food was sub par. I ordered the salad. The description made me excited to try it. I love salads especially those with different toppings. Let's just jump into my disappointment. The salad was a messy bed of spinach leaves with toppings strewn about. I believe that you eat with your eyes first and this left me wanting more. I added bacon which helped, but I was sorely disappointed in the presentation and taste.
