The pork chops were very good as usual. The chili was very good as usual but here comes the salad. What is it about a take out salad that makes it so much more different than if you order it in the restaurant. Is there two different batches of lettuce? The lettuce tasted like it had been soaked in water all day, and there were so many lettuce chunks in the salad it was basically a wedge salad. There were barely any eggs on the salad (which if my favorite part). Thank God I had extra cheese from the chili. I asked for Extra ranch. All I got was the small little container of ranch. Needless to say that was a wasted side. This isn't the first time we have had this issue with the salads for takeout. The thing that blows my mind and has been a constant issue, is time. They tell you 20-30 minutes and then you arrive within that time frame only to wait another 20-30 minutes on your food. To me that's poor customer service. When you ask about it or say anything they just give you a free appetizer coupon. It's one of our favorite places to get salads but I will not order takeout salads ever again.

Located right across from the Northeast State campus, the bright red building is easy to find. Since they are drive through only and the lot is a bit small, the drive through backs up onto 75 with more than three vehicles in line. There is a way to start a second line next to the main one but you'll need to zipper your way in based on arrival time. We arrived right after noon and were third in line in the lot but right at the road. The two vehicles in front must have ordered ahead as they received their food through the drive-up window. We still waited almost 10 minutes to get to the window. The hostess/ cashier was very pleasant and helpful as we placed our order. We checked out their menu online ahead of time so we know what we wanted. Once we paid, we were told to drive around the rear of the building to wait at the window on the other side. The path behind the building is a bit narrow but not an issue if you take your time. We waited about 10 minutes for the food to be made. The quesabirria tacos ($15) were exceptional. The order comes with four corn tacos filled with birria and cheese. It also comes with slices on lime, a container of chopped onion and cilantro, a large container of consommé, as well as small containers of green and a red sauce. The tacos were crispy without being crunchy and filled with a good amount of birria and cheese. The consommé added another dimension to the flavor. Adding the onion/ cilantro bits and fresh lime juice took this dish up to exceptional. I did not plan to eat everything but after one bite I knew I would finish it no matter what. The great thing was even though I was very full afterwards, it did not sit heavy. The green sauce included with the quesabirria was tomatillo-based and had a slight heat. This would be great on pork or eggs if you don't use it all on the tacos. The red sauce had a good amount of heat to it, coming on quickly and sharply, but fading pretty quickly as well. I did add some of this to one taco and it added decent heat without overpowering the rest of the flavors. I will certainly find other uses for the small amount left over. The nachos ($14) come with a base of either chips or French fries. My dining partner requested the fries, which we were told would take about 15 minutes as they are made fresh to order. The protein selected was chicken. This dish was also very good. The fries were slightly crispy outside and soft inside and made a good base. The chicken was well seasoned and cooked perfectly, and there was a good amount included. The cheese and pico added a nice flavor mix. I would probably add some of the red sauce from the quesabirrias but the dish is good without anything added. Las Hermanas is a great little place that deserves your business if you are anywhere near the area.
