Food was cold, put almost no chicken in my burrito. Customer service was decent but the floor was sticky and was a bad experience

As we wend our way to Florida, we spend the night in Bristol for one main reason. This restaurant!…read more (The Hilton Garden Inn hits all the marks too, but as I have nothing to add I'm not updating that review.) My husband ordered five enchiladas each with a different stuffing. While delicious, unless you haven't eaten since last Thursday, who can consume so many enchiladas?! I shouldn't talk. The house special quesadilla -- always excellent -- is a lot of food. Ever resourceful, I took half back, put the chicken and peppers on a bagel and ate it for breakfast! (Note to self AND my husband: next time let's split one and maybe forego the steak and chicken. Chorizo and shrimp?!) Moving on, the salsa bar is great with smooth, chunky, mild and spicy salsas. That's not counting the warm bean spread brought to the table with their thin and crisp chips. Our margaritas -- $6 each -- are not only good but pretty, topped with berries and a flower. Here it is, Monday night -- not a typical going-out day of the week -- and the place is busy with locals. Pretty good testimony to what's become one of my favorite Mexican restaurants.

When my meal arrived I tried a scallop and it was awful. Cut another one in half and tried it...still terrible. Ate a few of the fried shrimp which were lukewarm warm at best and decided...wow, this meal sucks. The potato was fair. A server came and asked if I was done and I said yes...it wasn't very good at all and he could certainly see that I didn't even eat a 1/4 of my food. When my partner was done with his meal, which he enjoyed, the female bartender took his plate away and I said his meal was good, mine was awful. Both of the workers that I spoke with about my meal couldn't care less. I suppose it was my fault for not asking for a manager, but as someone who has worked in restaurants, one of the employees should have done something...anything to show they cared and tried to make things right. Left a $7 tip on a $70 bill (which was generous, considering my bad meal) This place has been hit or miss and this night was a huge MISS. Definitely won't ever come back to this location. We will drive the extra 20 minutes and go to the Abingdon location. Never had a bad meal there and the service has always been top notch.

Hearty, authentic Mexican food which came out in the span of a few minutes. I just pointed at something on the vegetarian menu and was very pleased with what I got. The portions are quite large, too. We felt a bit rushed, but they were closing soon so it was understandable. Get an order of the table side guacamole if you want to complete the holy trinity of salsa and pico de gallo with your chips. I was wondering if it's all homemade, because the salsa and guacamole were delicious, and pico de gallo was super fresh!

Literally any restaurant can do that. They said they have to do the rice and the beans on the side and the guacamole on top with red sauce. I said just put the guacamole on the side and burritos shouldn't have sauce on it. She kept repeating it has red sauce I said no sauce strictly this stuff I said only. Doesn't take a rocket scientist... she kept saying cheese sauce I said No, we want cheese, literal cheese, not any sauce anything. I also ordered shrimp fajitas and steak nachos with just steak and cheese, and the burrito above. The chicken in the burrito was kind of dry, like they possibly boiled it then shredded it. Her food wasn't very flavorful. My bf said that his nachos were tasty but needed more cheese sauce. My plate wasn't flavorful at all. To me it seems like this is more Tex-Mex with white people in the kitchen. iI from California and have been to Mexico many time..so I know authentic Mexican food and this doesn't come anywhere near it. The salsa taste like they just mixed some tomato paste with a little bit of seasoning

All of our food was to us quickly and tasted great(chori pollo baby!). I asked and the waitress said there was a $3.00 up charge on beef right now and there was a sign by the door. I checked, the sign was a piece of printer paper tapped to a board tucked half behind the podium. My review stands. Among the bottom 2 Mexican restaurants in the area. From 2024: If you decide to eat here there are a few things to be aware of. 1. Their menu prices are not current. You will absolutely be charged more than menu prices for some items. If you tell them that they will refuse to honor the menu price. This happened on two occasions fairly recently. On one occasion they lied about honoring it and adjusted the gratuity to hide the fact. 2. Their specialty drinks are not mixed correctly. Either overly sweet or overly sour. 3. The wait staff will forget to bring things to your table. Normally that's not a big deal if you see them again before you finish your food. 4. The food is mediocre most of the time. Its not bad, but its not great either. 5. The food is over priced for the quality they serve lately. If you want a better experience for less or the same money, go to Puerto Nuevo. La Carreta used to be much much better than they are now.

BBQ tends to blend together after a while, but theirs stood out, good flavor without being overpowering, something for everybody. It's a bit more upscale and the bbq is delicious, there's a good variety of meat selections and sides, portion sizes are good and the prices are reasonable. Prices are competitive with festival food concession prices but coming here you get served and get to sit comfortably in air conditioning! The cocktails and wine are reasonable too. Glasses of house wines are $7. Most of the cocktails are $10. Pints of beer are $5. We've tried many of the meats and sides over our visits and found some of our favorites to be the peppered bacon, dry rub wings, brisket, pulled pork and the house salad. The peppered bacon comes with pickled jalapeños that work really well. The wings are meaty, smoky and crispy. The pulled pork includes crispy ends. So delicious. A house salad doesn't sound like much but the portion is generous. They provide a selection of bbq sauces and I like to blend the Stoney Creek Original with the slightly spicy Memphis sauces together. We've also had combo platters including brisket and burnt ends and those were spot-on too. Sides of beans, seasoned fries, sweet potato soufflé and Mac and cheese are good too. Of the dining spots in downtown Bristol, this is our spot. It's a bit more upscale of a dining experience, the food is quality is consistent, prices are reasonable and service is attentive.
