The food is always good and service is always friendly, and I love to shop around in the old store.

So the food was pretty good. Chicken and dumplings and fried okra and apples. Tasty. Only two biscuits though and they were flat. Tasted ok slightly hard but I'd been in the car for 3 hours and was hungry. Watermelon lemonade was great not too tart. Our waitress even offered to switch it out if it was too tart so extra service points for her. It was pretty loud but it's Cracker Barrel. Lots of little kids eating there. The peg game had Smuckers Jam on it and I got it on my hand. That's the only major issue. Overall very nice. read more

Remember when Cracker Barrel had the best bacon. I do...unfortunately, they switched brands a couple of years ago and now it it cheap bacon that sucks. The pancakes are still pretty good and the ice cold milk is good. That's the best I can say because they will never bring back the good bacon. read more

I'm honestly not a big Cracker Barrel fan because every time I eat in the restaurant, the service is very poor and super slow. However, we did take out at this one and their timing was spot on. Last week we ate there and my husband remarked his biscuits were stale. Later that week I read that Cracker Barrel had started making their biscuits ahead of time and just reheating them. We went again tonight for supper and sure enough the biscuits are a reheated affair. This pulls down their whole reputation and quality. Actually really good. Everything here at the Kingsport location was solid. The meatloaf was surprisingly very good...one of the better ones i've had. No complaints. You can also never go wrong with the chicken and dumplings. We don't get these much on the west coast...well we did for a bit as ghost kitchens until they vanished in 2022. read more

Love this old country store and restaurant. The food is almost always great and even driving across the country they are consistent. This location in Tennessee near Virginia border on Hwy 81 was no exception. The wait was exact time of 20 minutes as we were told. The waitress had a warm greeting and pleasant disposition with an ever filling coffee pot this morning. The food was delicious and the atmosphere homelike comfortable. No rushing for next customer and offered drinks to go. The restaurant was clean and old world country decor adorned all the walls. Pleasant little shop to peruse while waiting for a table. The bathroom was also vey clean with all the business they have. Price is Usually about $10ish per person and amount of food is filling. read more

If you like noisy places, then Cracker Barrel is for you! The service at this particular store was good and friendly. I'm a veteran and wore my hat. I was greeted and thanked for my service. It's always nice when people go out of their way to Thank a Vet. I ordered off-menu. They have too many foods loaded with sugar and carbs for my liking. I had a House salad with ranch dressing. I only used half of the sauce (2 oz is a bit much for a small salad, IMO). I also ordered 3 eggs over-easy, which came out over-medium. I don't know why people can't seem to understand that the inner white on an over-easy egg is supposed to be runny. Anyway, I also ordered the Sirloin Tips, which were delicious. My server made everything smooth and gave me a discount, although I didn't ask (she didn't charge me for my drink). I'll be returning to this Cracker Barrel in the future. read more

It don't even deserve a one star . I ordered the white fish and shrimp that was 13.99 both was hard and rubbery. I got baked potato and okra . The potato was so cold the butter would not melt at all and it was also hard . All I got was sour cream and butter and they charged me 1.99 extra. Not enough wait staff-the waiters/waitresses had to clear tables. Wait for simple breakfast items (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes) was almost 30 minutes. Food was cold. Bacon was tough and tasteless. "Scrambled" eggs were cooked into a flat mass and folded onto the plate. Very little "butter". The "maple" syrup was half corn syrup. Pancakes were decent but a little cold and tough. "Butter " would not even melt on them. We ate everything because we were hungry and needed to get on the road. We don't blame the waitress. She was working her butt off. Left her a $10 tip for a $30 way over-priced breakfast. I complained to the manager after we ate and paid. She was very nice and offered a complete refund but we declined. I just wanted her to know how bad it was and how the quality has declined over the years. We took a group of 12 people to this location to celebrate my son's birthday. When we arrived, we were told there would be a 20-minute wait. 5 minutes later, we received a text telling us it would be 35 minutes, and we decided to wait, and that was when things started to go south. At 50 minutes, we asked how much longer and were told they were preparing our table. I might add that the far side of the dining room had numerous empty tables. After an hour, wait, we were told our table was ready. We asked for a high chair because there was a baby in the group, which had been included in the number of guests. The young lady said, "Oh, you should have told me," and proceeded to call another group and give them our table. I asked for the manager and quickly realized he couldn't care less about the situation. All he had for us was excuses. We were, however, told they had another table ready, so we stayed, and the server gave good service and the food as delicious. But the evening was horrible. So much so that we and several in our group stated we would either not frequent C. B. again, or at least not that location. read more

The Barrel.. I've seen dem commercials on ESPN, HGTV, Food Network and every other cable channel for that matter. I don't think we have them in So CA, so the first time I saw them and a Dunkin Donuts coincidentally was when I crossed into AZ 2-3yrs back. But Pops and I were on a road mission, so he grabbed his Dunkins coffee (not impressed) and we kept it pushing. Now when I flew in to TN last month, no snax on red eye as I slept, so I needed grub. The Lovely Lady veers here and I can say, it was everything I thought it would be. Homey, down Souff hospitality like I just walked into Mayberry or a Designing Women episode. Loved it. Two eggs over medium, grits, gravy n buttermilk biscuits, hashbrown casserole and bacon. Not a huge eater but I think I downed everything. Broke up that bacon and put it in my grits, lil pepper n butter and I was set. Damn good. The waitress was great, friendly and attentive. I'm Noooot gonna gain the 10-15lbs the Lady wants to put on me...but this is dangerous/tasty food. I may be doomed. Btw, cool knickknacks, old timey sodas, candies, snacks throughout. The food, merchandise and country store are awesome! The staff working at each location are so friendly, helpful and attentive!

I think overall that this Cracker Barrel was pretty good. The service was excellent, our waiter was pleasant and the wait was not that long. I believe that the only problem was the food. Now the food was not terrible however I know for a fact that the produce is not fresh and that is a disappointment. I ordered steak medium rare and it came out pretty pink. I handed it back for a better piece but the waiter came back with the same piece still pink but this time it was a bit rubbery. That was proof they just stuck it right back on the grill. Any cook should know you never put a steak back on the grill! I also got chicken dumplings and it taste like there was no chicken and just raw dumpling. So overall I can not give a five star review. Can't say enough good things about this Cracker Barrel. We pulled up with our camper and our dog. We couldn't go inside because of the dog, so a server came out to us and took our order, even though they were really busy! The breakfast and coffee was amazing, and they brought eggs for our dog The manager was so friendly and accommodating, at a time when good customer service is sometimes missing. We stopped in at The Cracker Barrel after a long day of driving and there was a genuine wood fire burning near the table where we were seated. It was lovely. I had Fish N Chips and Blackberry Cobbler. Everything was delicious. The fish was firm and had no fishy flavor. The breading was flavorful and not too thick. My vegetable soup was flavorful but some of the veggies were slightly over cooked while some of the other veggies tasted as if they had been added to the soup just in time to be hot but not cooked. No sense of organization on the restaurant side of the store. Restaurant staff isn't very friendly. Ordered cat fish and supposed to come with 3 sides, only got 2. Told the expeditor that brought my plate about the missing side, never saw him again nor the side. Server couldn't take ownership of the issue because she was stretched thin waiting on at least 5 large tables with little to no help. Catfish had an excessive amount of water in it, to the point it just clumped apart instead of flaking slightly. Only good thing about the meal was the raspberry lemonade, which isn't saying much because I can make it easily at home myself. I ordered water with lemon and my guest ordered a hot moca latte. Our order arrived promptly. I had to change my order because the roast beef was too spicy. I changed to the fried shrimp. Disappointed. After traveling all day I was happy to see a Cracker Barrel next door to the hotel. I ordered online and headed to the restaurant to pick up my food. It was not ready when I arrived but that was okay because I enjoy browsing the old country store. After several minutes, the cashier went to the kitchen to check on my food, still not ready, but that's okay because I don't mind waiting for fresh food. After about 20 minutes, my order was brought out in a sealed bag and I headed back to my hotel. When I opened the bag, there were no napkins or plastic ware. The hamburger bun was hard and dry, there were no condiments on the burger or in the bag. The hashbrown casserole was also hard and dry. My guess is that the order had been misplaced in the kitchen and when found was microwaved which ruined the food. It was a very disappointing end to a long day of travel. read more

Pulp Fact! What a train wreck! Woke up wanting biscuits & gravy. Started to go to iHop but decided Cracker Barrel might be the better choice. Dang! I've never been more wrong. Let's start with the store. The merch quality has taken a nosedive! Prairie dresses? I know it's 2020, but has it come to this?! The servers were wearing jeans and not a single mask was pulled up over a nose. Yeah - that's not how that works! Not to mention that our waitress was CHEWING GUM!! I mean, she was nice enough, but GUM!! Come on! Moving on to the menu. I realize that Rona has caused many places to dial back their menus, but The Barrel got in the way/back machine and brought back something from the 60s. Not only is the selection nil, the physical menu looked like it had been dragged behind a train. So I ordered a breakfast combo and my son ordered a steak. Lordy, lordy! I realize that CB isn't a steakhouse. But I also know that cooking a steak isn't rocket surgery! ;) The first steak (yes, I said 'first') was ordered medium rare. It came out well done. That's 3 whole temps off! Not even close. So we sent it back. I wish I had taken a picture of the second one, but it scampered back out to pasture before I could. It. Was. BLUE! It couldn't decide whether to run back to the farm or swim (in its own blood)! Barf! So that prompted us to ask for a manager. Well, I happen to know all the managers at this particular store and this wasn't one but whatever. She emerged from the back looking more like cold apps than management, but she had the power to remove the steak, so we took it. He ate more bacon and some hashbrowns and seemed ok. Wasn't worth trying again. As for mine? Well, I'm glad you asked. I ate it. Some of it. It tasted more like it came from the fridge than the grill, but I was exhausted by this point. I will say the food was okay for a Cracker Barrel. It isn't my favorite restaurant. It is my favorite gift shop. However, my grandson wanted to go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast yesterday, and I agreed. Why I'm giving this a 2 star rating is I feel when a restaurant has a "children's" menu, they usually serve child size portions along with child size prices. He ordered the pancakes off the child size menu and a sweet tea. They brought him a regular sweet tea (adult size) with two pancakes (lg) along with the regular prices. I looked at the children's menu for pricing and there it states in small print, look for the prices in your menu. Had I realized this, I would have ordered a breakfast that came with pancakes and let him have mine! $27.00 for breakfast that isn't much better than McDonalds is outrageous. I'm not a fan of Cracker Barrel's food. read more

Considering the store is still open for 40 mins but they won't take an order over the phone for pickup is a good way to loose business.
