You don't have to be religious in order to cook with and eat halal meats. I was reluctant to try this place until someone recommended them for fresh chicken and lamb. I am so glad I did! The chicken pieces are always fresh, never frozen. The staff will cut and clean the pieces for you, free of charge. And the fresh chicken thighs always taste juicier, more flavorful than the frozen Perdue that I get in my neighborhood. The prices are very reasonable! ($0.99/lb for drumsticks; $3.99 for chicken quarters). The lamb is amazing! I've bought lamb chops from Bismillah for $5.99 a pound. The whole lamb is kept in a nearby refrigerator and cut to your liking. That night we had fresh, juicy rosemary seasoned lamb chops. They are very accomadating. I'm going to go back and try making a crown roast. I love that the owners cut the meat for you quickly, efficiently and that they don't give you the stink eye. Its like having your own butcher like in Whole Foods but without the Whole Foods pricing. Of course, the owners do not eat beef or pork so if you are like me and you want either of those proteins, you would have to go elsewhere.
