I have horrible disks (thanks, Dad!) and have had severe back problems since I was 22. I had a herniated disk and lumbar laminectomy by another doctor at age 22 and was happy with the outcome, but knew this wasn't the end of my problems. That doctor retired and I had problems once again with the same herniated disk at age 28. Enter Dr. Wood. I had another surgery at 28 and then a spinal fusion at 33, both by Dr. Wood. Both surgeries were very successful. You may wonder why I would need repeat surgeries and if you saw my spine, you'd understand. Both surgeries were done very well. Both times, Dr. Wood had wonderful bedside manner and was very receptive to me. Before the most recent surgery, I was scheduled for surgery but it was Christmas and the surgery was delayed because of the holiday. Something moved in my spine on Christmas Eve and I was a 100+ on the pain scale. I couldn't move. Dr. Wood stopped what he was doing on Christmas Eve and got me some serious pain killers. These were the kind that you had to have the physical prescription for and could not be called in. So, my husband had to meet him on Christmas eve to get the paper prescription to get it filled. He cares. I have seen him various times over the years because my L4-L5 disk doesn't look great (my fusion was L5-S1). He always takes his time and moves through the most conservative steps first. He always takes time to ask questions and doesn't rush me. If you are looking for a highly skilled spine orthopedist, then Dr. Wood is the one.

It has a nice sitting in a safe place next to not just one, but also an extra major highway. On the other hand it can be annoying to walk in here because it's so hot outside, and if you're not feeling well you might just pass out trying to make it to the door. Once you're inside of course, the wait time is long and service is brisk, and there's a lot of people here who aren't very friendly, and some of the other problematic reviews are problems that I've noticed too. I thought it would help the business to add them to Yelp, give them a review, and say these words about their business, since I was sad to see nobody had added them yet.

Billing / Insurance process was painless! Unlike most clinics clear explanation of expectation was given before we got there and all questions were answered in regards to billing. Dr Walls was very thorough on her assessment, explained our child's condition in a very understandable way, gave options, and laid out the plan for further treatment/evaluation. They over charged us and are holding funds for the next visit. They said would only refund one a month on a check that was mailed to us. I told Duke in billing that we would not prepay for the next visit due to this error and he said they could not provide medical services without prepayment. Not a great way to do business especially with parents brining in their children for serious conditions.

The waiting room was a pleasant, well-lit environment with plenty of seats, and before long, a nurse took me upstairs to an examination room. Doctor Ivey was quick in coming by and did a great job explaining to me what the problem was with my foot based on the previous x-rays I brought in. He had me take another quick x-ray, which took mere minutes, and then he showed me on the image what he saw thought. The doctor answered all my questions clearly and succinctly, and it was a pleasure meeting with him. An assistant set me up with crutches in a jiffy, and checking out of the office was a breeze.
