Dr. Cornish gave her ketamine for her spay and effectively killed her!

BEWARE! They give rabbits KETAMINE here!! My 8 month old rescued bunny was brought here this past weekend to be spayed. Without informing me or my friend who brought her there and waited to pick her up, Dr. Christine Cornish gave my bunny KETAMINE because she said that the anesthesia wasn't working. She was so dosed up, she took forever to wake. She died. DR. CORNISH KILLED MY BUNNY. In no way was ketamine necessary and she caused my bunny distress before a painful death. Do not bring your rescues to this shelter to be ficed and especially not Dr. Cornish

Buster aka Conroy was saved here and is now 13 yrs old and happy. Thx!

Just wanted to say thank you again for saving my Bustie! You guys found him lost and abandoned in 2005. He is happy and celebrated his 13th bday! Yelpers, if you are in this area, please check out their doggies and other critters or donate via their website. They do good work!

Jordy was SO KIND. She handled my anxious black lab so well, as did the whole team. They provided a muzzle for safety and treated her with kindness. Best humane society I've ever been to. Really care about the animals!

I am happy to say that because of our bird experience, my mother and I were involved in an incredible undertaking by MHHS to rescue more than 2 dozen parrots from a hoarding case 2 years ago. The conditions they came from were terrible, with over 100 other animals. Not being one of their regular volunteers, it was an amazing experience to see everyone in the shelter come together in this effort. Donations of food and cages from local company and helpful citizens. While MHHS does not normally deal with birds, many, many of the staff and volunteers who did have bird experience were able to get these birds cleaned up, checked by an avian vet, given sanitary cages and then placed in loving and experienced homes to get the attention they had been previously starved of. I myself fostered 4 and then kept 2 of the birds, and my parents 4 others. During the initial fostering they were very involved in making sure we were seen by an avian vet and provided with all of the medication and care we needed to make sure they were rehabilitated to full health. They checked on us to make sure everyone was doing good. My happy, healthy, spoiled parrots are thankful that MHHS was able to rescue them and give them the long lives they truly deserved!

We had a wonderful experience adopting two guinea pigs from this shelter. Very pleased with the outcome and experience.

She helped us pick out dog food that was is similar to the one we have been using for our dogs because we could not find the product that we have been using in this area. We moved from out of state and the very nice young professional employee found us another food that was very similar. And it's local and a family owned business. Which we really like to support. She also informed us that the food that we buy at a local grocery store was recalled and we had no idea that was happening. So we thank you for helping us with our dogs so that they are on a healthier diet. Thank you very much and will see you soon

Healthy Pet is a great place to come for better brands of pet food. I feed my dogs wellness brand…read moretreats and food, and the selection at the other stores around here, isn't as good as what Healthy Pet carries. When I first got my pups, Healthy Pet was the only place where I could find natural food options for dogs. So that leads me to believe they are in the know on what's best for your pets, before other stores do. Another reason I like coming here, are the free roaming cats. No, I'm not a crazy cat lady!! It's fun when for me when I come across one, and a couple are very friendly and like to be pet. This is something I like because my daughter is allergic to cats and I can no longer have kitties in my place. Years ago, my father brought me here and we discovered they had cats available for adoption. Of course I fell in love with one and had to have her. The process and what they required for someone to adopt was a bit strict. They will not let you adopt if you plan on letting the cat out. At least back then they wouldn't. We got a lecture on the dangers of letting a cat outdoors and we had to swear we'd keep her inside. I thought this was a bit much. But when the lecture was over and I swore I'd keep her inside, I left with a kitty. They have a program for pet food, where if you buy ten bags, you get one free. I personally think this is a good deal. The pet bed and leash/harness selection isn't great, but they have enough. They have bulk bird food I buy for both my outside bird feeders and my inside parakeet, who has a preference for their bird food. They have a nice fish selection, both salt water and fresh. And they still have a cat adoption clinic, in their store. Every time I go there, there are quite a few available. If you're looking for specialty dog food brands, or the usual brands, and a more personal form of customer service, this is a nice place. I'm giving four stars and not five because of their requirements for cat adoptions, semi limited hours, and lack of non food dog items such as leashes etc. Oh, the cat I adopted, Sophie. She lived to be 13 and was an outdoor cat her whole life. She could often be found under the lilac tree or on the walkway getting a cat tan, often accompanied by the other outdoor cats of the neighborhood.

On August 12, 2026 my grand rabbit passed away. I called my daughter who's out of state at school…read moreto let her know because Miley (the rabbit) was hers. She sent me the money to get Miley cremated so she could come back home which is $60 for the cremation. My daughter sent $80 so she could get her nose print and fur clipping. I called her while there and told her that the clay paw print was a extra $30. She said okay and asked for that as well. My daughter sent me the $30 for Miley's clay paw print. I and my daughter paid a total of $110 for her rabbit to come home. We paid on card and left Miley with APF. We trusted APF to make sure our wishes were fulfilled and granted. I was called yesterday August 19, 2026 towards the end of day that Miley had been returned and was ready for pickup. I was unable to pick her up yesterday so I went and picked Miley up today. I arrived at APF around 12:10pm. I walked in and picked up her remains. I was looking thru the bag when I noticed that the paw print was not there. So I walked back in and addressed the issue. They made it feel like I was lying to them and went and checked the receipt and saw that I did pay for it but never got it. Then they said that they will talk with the people tomorrow when they come in and I told them no because it wasn't going to fix the issue it's not like they can do her paw print now as she is cremated. I told them I wanted a refund. They asked me my address and I told them that they could refund it how I paid for it. They said that they aren't able to do that which I found highly aggravating. So they are mailing me a paper check. If this happened to someone who had lost a child in birth and they never did their child's hand and foot print an the child was cremated the parents and family would be highly upset and emotional. This is the same thing. Some people view there animals as there kids and treat them as such. There are no words in which we can express our aggravation, hurt, and there is absolutely no way they can ever correct this for us either. I'm shaking writing this because this is something that we will never be able to look at again. When I look at my dog's paw prints, my cat paw print, I an my daughter will never be able to look at Miley's paw print.
