Probably a top music venue in downtown Buffalo, right up there with Nietzsche's! My friends play in a band (The CPX, if you've heard of them) and while they only play a couple of times a year, I'd say about half of the time they can be found under the Mohawk Place roof. And, since it's a golden rule to never miss a CPX show, safe to say I've been here a few times! MP is very divey, with old walls and ceilings, string lights, framed photos, borderline tacky decor. But I never feel uncomfortable when I'm in here (I always go with friends though), the bathrooms are fairly clean, and the music is always well-supported. They've got a pretty great sound system here, an awesome stage toward the back, and plenty of room to fill in front of the stage, so what more could you ask for? I don't drink when I'm out seeing live music, but I've noticed they serve canned beers here like Bud and PBR, and they have their usual alcohol mixers. Being a non-drinker, my favorite thing about this place is that they have an orange water cooler on the bar with plastic cups, as a self-serve cooler so I don't have to keep asking the bartender to fill up a cup of water for me. Bonus points! Looking forward to the next visit here for sure.

I've only been here once (a few weekends ago - 3/5/11) to see Jonathan Richman and I had a blast. The place is a perfect small live music venue, and other than the fact that they had no wine (beer and mixed drinks only), and the ladies room was pretty scary, I loved it.

The kind of place you want to have in your neighborhood... Legit bar with the right amount of dinginess, good craft beer, excellent security/staff, a owner who picks up the phone - even on a big night, and a real stage. Really enjoy this place... Let's support it and the diversity that is the new Buffalo. Now... Add more craft beer! :-)

At the mohawk place. Nice band

I just had drinks and listened to a band, it was nice. If you like music and beer. Come here. I can't speak to the food, but the band was nice and the beer selection nice. The staff was great and very friendly. I forgot to mention they are only open for special events and such. Check the website. I also forgot to say this is the 11 th day they have been open. (Reopened) Is now Thursday, this place is a gold mine for these guys. There's another band (s) and the place is packed. It's fun. Come here and be early, really. This is day 2 here for me. Cool and fun.

Bathroom dirty, door guy was rude, music was awesome. But be ready to get treated bad by a guy who CLEARLY doesn't want to do his job.

Terrible security! The venue would be pretty good if they got a new security team. They're on an absolute power trip!

The burger had a ton of flavor and was made very well. It only came with meat and cheese tho. I thought it may of came with lettuce and tomato like burgers usually do but that didn't bother me. I added some ketchup and it was perfect for me. So good that I actually ate the entire thing and I NEVER finish my food. I think the flavor was just that good and it was cooked perfectly. For me personally this place is a bit on the pricier side but thankfully my friend paid for me without me even knowing. I was very appreciative for that. But I do think I would go back as long as I had the money. Service was great. We sat at the bar and our food came out in under 10 minutes. The place has a lot of seating as well. There's an upstairs with additional seating if you don't wanna be downstairs.

It was 2 stuffed banana peppers, 2 meatballs with red sauce and garlic toast. All good and the peppers did have a little kick that I love. We split a sandwich. Ordered Antonio Bing. It was a chicken cutlet with stuffed hot pepper, melted mozzarella on a garlic roll in the shape of a hogie roll. It came with one side so we chose the macaroni salad, very good and added a Caesar salad. Now for the best part of any meal ...dessert! We chose the peanut butter cookie sundae. It was a real peanut butter buttery cookie on the bottom topped with vanilla ice cream surrounded by whipped cream & drizzled with chocolate sauce so yummy

We were in town attending a large national conference for families affected by their condition, and many conference attendees were also staying at the hotel. When we arrived, the restaurant appeared to be about 80% empty. Our children mentioned to the waitress that they were hungry and tired, and the first response we received was, "Do you have a reservation?" She explained that they couldn't seat us because they were expecting a large party. Instead of being seated at a regular table, we were directed to the bar area, where the bartender kindly took care of us despite the fact that our group included two minors. We stayed for over an hour, and during that time, the large party never arrived. Meanwhile, we watched other guests without reservations get seated at tables without any apparent issue. The experience left us feeling singled out and, ultimately, discriminated against. Whether that was the intention or not, it reflected a disappointing lack of empathy and inclusion--especially considering that so many families with children with disabilities were staying at the hotel for the conference. I'm giving Bella Ciao three stars because the food was decent, the portions were generous, and the bartender provided good service. Unfortunately, the way we were treated upon arrival overshadowed what could have been an enjoyable dining experience.
