**** We visited Bella Ciao at the Embassy Suites in Buffalo around 7:00 p.m. as a party of five, including two children with special needs. We were in town attending a large national conference for families affected by their condition, and many conference attendees were also staying at the hotel. When we arrived, the restaurant appeared to be about 80% empty. Our children mentioned to the waitress that they were hungry and tired, and the first response we received was, "Do you have a reservation?" She explained that they couldn't seat us because they were expecting a large party. Instead of being seated at a regular table, we were directed to the bar area, where the bartender kindly took care of us despite the fact that our group included two minors. We stayed for over an hour, and during that time, the large party never arrived. Meanwhile, we watched other guests without reservations get seated at tables without any apparent issue. The experience left us feeling singled out and, ultimately, discriminated against. Whether that was the intention or not, it reflected a disappointing lack of empathy and inclusion--especially considering that so many families with children with disabilities were staying at the hotel for the conference. I'm giving Bella Ciao three stars because the food was decent, the portions were generous, and the bartender provided good service. Worst experience ever and being Mother's day we were very disappointed and the kids were very upset . Started out with dirty wine glasses , then dirty glasses again. My teenage daughter and older son went there at 6:30PM on a Friday night, because there was over an hour wait at Chef's restaurant deeper downtown, the whole restaurant doesn't look that much different from when it was Sear steakhouse. Which means it's still elegant and sleek. We all started out with salads. My chop salad was great, my kids liked their Caesar salad. The entrées, however, weren't at the same level as the salad I had chicken Parmesan, served one cutlet with almost a Panko-like crust. Wasn't what I was expecting minimum amount of sauce on it and the sauce is not that good. Almost sour tasting. My son had lasagna and he said it was good. My daughter had chicken Alfredo with their house made noodles. And the noodles were so tough and undercooked that my daughter couldn't eat it. She ate the chicken and she liked the Alfredo sauce. I told the waitress and they apologized and immediately took it off the bill. Which was much appreciated. We had a couple of desserts, including the cannolis, which were terrible. I don't remember the other one. Bella Ciao is a decent restaurant inside the hotel Embassy suites. The ambiance is quite beautiful and the seating is comfortable. There is a bar area that you can enjoy and depending on the night. There is a live piano performance for your entertainment enjoyment. Bella Ciao could be so much more, if the food was more homemade. To me I feel this place is more of a high class Olive Garden. I would come back, but it would be more for the drinks than the food. Lobster Mafalde- Lobster Cream sauce, with asparagus tips. The bar staff worked feverishly on what I have no idea, but It took a bit before I was addressed. ...I ordered a Pepsi and it came flat...with hardly any ice in it and lukewarm..... next came my Caesar salad, which was ...also.. lukewarm, with rock, hard croutons. I love Italian food and was really interested in trying their menu since pretty much everything looks amazing. We ordered a drink at the bar while we were waiting for everyone in our party. I got the mule that was listed on the cocktail menu and it was excellent, probably one of the best cocktails I've had in a long time. We started out with the meatballs which tasted very good, but we're a bit cold to my liking. This was the ONLY bad thing that happened our entire meal. We each got salads, myself the chopped and fiancé the Caesar, both delicious. FH says 'this is the best salad I've ever ordered' . I ordered the eggplant Parmesan and my fiancé ordered the chicken parm. The eggplant was amazing. I've prob had eggplant at over 90% off the Buffalo restaurants who offer it and this was one of three best. Really great experience for my friend's birthday. I recently visited Bella Ciao for my birthday dinner. I made a reservation online, assuming the restaurant would be busy. When we got there, there weren't many people there at all, most likely due to the early dinner time (5:15pm). We quickly were sat at a table and they brought us some bread to share. For an appetizer, we got the meatballs. They were large and 4 made it easy to share. For my entree, I got the vodka rigatoni with breaded chicken. The serving was large as well, and I had plenty to take home. For dessert, I had the affogato. I wouldn't recommend it, however my mom had the lemon cake and she loved it. So I would recommend trying that instead. When we were wrapping up our meal, more people started showing up and they had a live saxophonist playing. This seems like a nice date night spot. They even allowed us to do decorations in there. we were a large party of 8+ and despite this, the service was pretty good. We had one person assigned to us, but there was no issues with timely check-in's and food/drink drops. I was able to try a few different appetizers and salads, but my main course was the chicken parmigiana, which was delicious with a side of spaghett. Flavorful and filling. The birthday girl got the Wild Mushroom Lasagna which she really enjoyed! I also tried a couple different cocktails, which I did feel were a tad pricey by a dollar or two all around, but they were well-made. Overall, this was a great dining experience with great service and amazing food. We came here last weekend to celebrate a friend's birthday. This is a newer place and it is located inside Embassy Suites, where Sear was before. I'll be honest I wasn't sure what to expect and I'm pretty picky about Italian food. The menu looked good though and they could take a group at short notice so it worked out perfectly. Im happy to share that I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. The inside is the same as Sear. Modern, clean and elegant. Very nice for a special occasion or a date night. There was live piano music which was a nice touch on the evening. The menu was reasonable for a nicer restaurant and offers fresh pasta which is a huge plus for me. To start we had the burrata appetizer which was perfection. It came in top of a bed of arugula and a balsamic glaze with a healthy amount of proisiutto, figs, toast and candied nuts. For mains we had the lasagna which is one of the best lasagnas we ever had, which is a very serious statement. It was a very generous portion with the perfect portions of meat, cheese and sauce complete with crispy edges and bottom. We also tried the bolognese sardi with meatballs. It was good but needed a touch of salt or some fresh grated park to bring out the flavors more. I would have usually asked but was very distracted by the lasagna. The staff was also very attentive. For dinner, I chose the vodka rigatoni, which was fine, but my boyfriend's lobster mafalde really stole the show. The sauce was delicious and it came with lots of large pieces of lobster. I wish I would've ordered it for myself! Overall, this is a good option for Italian fare in downtown Buffalo. It's pretty central to everything in the center of the city and the food was stellar. It's been a while since I hung out with one of my good friends. Of course, Bella Ciao was our first choice for dinner, drinks, and catching up!! I didn't realize until I got there that Bella Ciao is connected to Embassy Suites Hotel in downtown Buffalo. The former restaurant was Sear Steakhouse, I've been to Sear, so I had no doubt this place would be gorgeous!! And it did not disappoint!! It was brightly lit but not blinding, I would describe it as a bit elegant. However, I wouldn't say there was a dress code. Due to it being connected to a hotel, there are people who dress causal with baseball hats and flip flops, I'm assuming they were guests. But I also noticed others celebrating a birthday wearing heels, dresses and suits. Regardless of the attire, everyone seemed to be treated with respect and received great service. Now the food: this was a first for me and my friend. Therefore, we asked a bunch of questions as I usually do. The waitress was very knowledgeable and was able to give great recommendations. My friend ordered the Lobster Malfade and added shrimp. I didn't taste it, but she confirmed it tasted as good as looked. I ordered the crispy Brussels sprouts and Alfredo Malfade. These Brussels Sprouts were perfect, not overly cooked like some places do, and the candied pancetta was perfect crunch and not too sweet. So I'm a sauce girl, and often, it's a must to order extra, but Bella Ciao understood the assignment. No additional sauce was needed. This may be one of my favorite restaurant Alfredo dishes . We both ended our evening with the orange Creme Brule. If you've been following my reviews by now, you know I love me some Creme Brule.... but this orange flavored !! This was such a nice take on a classic dessert. The orange was very light but distinct and paired so well with charred top, garnished to with real oranges, yum!! I so hope they keep it on the menu for a while!! We enjoyed this experience so much and can't wait to go back soon!! read more

We started out with sharing some appetizers such as the meatballs, arancini balls and the stuffed banana peppers! All were very good! I ordered the chicken parm and it was huge and very good! I can't wait to go back!! The food and service were amazing and the ambiance was lovely. I would definitely say this is a nice place for a date. The food portions are pretty nice as well. To eat we started off with the meatballs and Caesar salad. The meatballs were extremely moist and well seasoned. I'm not a fan of ricotta but I must say it really complimented the meatball well. The salad was very fresh and you really don't need the dressing that is on the side, even the croutons were delicious. For entrees we had the Lobster Mafalde and the Vodka Rigatoni with grilled chicken. Both were delicious! I highly recommend the lobster Mafalde the cream sauce was absolutely delicious and the pasta pairing was amazing. Our waiter and servers were all polite. Service was fast and efficient. Throughout the night a gentleman whom I believe was the manager walked through and would check on guests to ask how their meal was and if they needed anything, which I love! I'm so happy to see this spot in the Avant reopened. The updated decor is modern and elegant, yet simple. We visited on a Sunday evening. So, it wasn't super busy, but I was happy to see it had a steady crowd. We started with the stuffed banana peppers, which in general is one of our favorite appetizers. I have to say we were impressed by the flavor, and we thoroughly enjoyed this start to our meal. The Caesar salad was good not great, but the short rib soup was out of this world. For dinner, we had the spaghetti and meatballs and lasagna, both of which were excellent. I really enjoyed the bread service, too. Our server, Lisa, made sure we had a great stay.
