What a great little spot right in our backyard! Moim in Korean means gathering. It's cozy, friendly and clean. The sushi is fresh and the rice is perfectly seasoned. So delicious we can't wait to go back. The fun combination of flavors in their specialty rolls work well together. Their beach ball appetizer sounds crazy but tastes amazing!!! We nearly fought over it! Perfect to share with two, with three you kinda want more. It's so good with the different textures and flavors. YUM!! We ordered the premium and luxury roll combos, and shared between us. We chose the Superman roll and the Yongster roll and the LV Salmon roll. All very good. Their classic rolls were also good, we had eel avocado, spicy salmon and shrimp tempura. Oh we also had the pork gyoza which was very good, but the beach ball was just so delicious and different. A small, nice husband-wife (family) run restaurant. Not too far from LV train station. I find it could be a nice meetup lunch place for school moms. It is definitely the most decent sushi place in Locust Valley. We ordered a few appetizers like gyoza ( chicken veggie and pork veggie), edmame , wing, sushi & Sashimi plate, several rolls and two udon bowls ( beef and pork) , and mochis 3 flavors). Gyoza was average average. They are refrozen type. Chicken wings were typical Japanese size ( Totemo chisaii desu). They are super duper sweet to my liking. I would call they were Korean-inspired wings not Japanese. The sushi & sashimi plate and rolls were fresh and buttery. Each sashimi slice was about half centimeter thick (a perfect standard for authentic Japanese sashimi). I liked the rice underneath. Many places often overcook the rice that makes rice mushy. I like my sushi rice has boundary. The combo plate accomplished that. Thumbs up. I loved the finely threaded radish garnish underneath every sashimi plate. This place particular. Because only really fresh order to made shredded radish could achieve as soft as hand pull noodles, full of pleasure. I always enjoy them as part of my salad. The perils leafs were also vibrate. I liked my salad without their store-made heavy mayo- ginger looking dressing. Instead, I enjoyed it with their yuzu sauce. My son liked his udon. He said it reminded him some Shokodo in Tokyo. The nice surprise treat was the beautifully presented hamachi collar from the owner. Quality fresh and buttery. We asked if they offer any dessert since none could be found on the menu. Yes, the owner suggested mochi in three flavors, vanilla, mocha and mango. We got one of each. They were very much like those at Whole Foods ones. Good. The service was minimum. It is a Japanese way. We Love this place ! My girlfriend told me about it . It is a tiny little place right off forest avenue . There are very few tables and a very large L shaped bar where the sushi chefs work . It is spotless and bright . The service is excellent. The staff is right there to accommodate you . The ambiance is quaint and quiet. With soft music playing. Right now there is no Liquor license. So bring your own is totally acceptable. And the bathroom? I'm not sure if there is one . ( they are working on that ) i believe you have to go in the back . But .. the most important part is the food . The food is absolutely amazing. It is so fresh and beautifully presented. They don't have an enormous menu but the choices are enough. Momi Asian restaurant open today for business. Our server and Sushi chef was delightful and very happy to serve us. Our servicer's name was Harrison and was very helpful explaining each menu item. My wife noticed the restaurant when she drove by earlier in the day. She thought it might be a good place to eat. We don't have any Asian Fusion restaurants in our town, so we were excited to try it out. There are eight seats at tables and eight seat at the sushi bar. I had Spicy tuna and Spicy salmon sushi which was very fresh and delicious. My wife had a tasty Beef Yakitori dish with noddles, beef and red and green peppers in a brown sauce served with white rice which was excellent. This being their opening night, it was a bit rough, but the food and service was excellent. It was a small restaurant and I'm certain they will continue to improve over time. They had a menu, however there were no prices. As it turned out we were pleasantly surprised that our bill was under thirty dollars for two people! They didn't have a liquor license, so they offered water, sodas and Asian green tea. Momi Asian Fusion has a great start with excellent food and service. As time passes they will have a website, WiFi and a menu with prices. At this time they only receive payments in cash, no credit cards yet. The quality and freshness of the fish is unmatched and, at least on the night we dined here, was better than what I've had locally at Kotobuki, Tiga, and Hana. Appetizer - The Beach Ball was a great way to start off the meal. This was delicious with the sauces and the avocado perfectly creamy. Rolls - We had the Cowboy Roll, which had real lobster pieces atop, making it a legit surf & turf roll. Still thinking about it today and will have to order each time henceforth. The LV Salmon Roll was equally delightful and expertly prepared. The only item we didn't like was the Miso Soup, which was way too salty. Wow what an amazing find so close to home!The menu is small, as is the restaurant but the service, food and ambiance deserve 5 big stars!. Prices are reasonable and portions are generous. We ate at the sushi bar and were able to watch the chef in action. Apparently the chef used to work at a well known beachfront restaurant in Bayville and has a following. They do not have a liquor license and byob is not an option. We were there around 5:30 on a Friday and the place was so busy, between take out and diners. We walked in with 4 starving people, excited to try the new sushi spot in town. We were standing outside, looking for the car keys, when our waiter came outside and welcomed us. We ordered heavy, and surprisingly to us, the food came very quickly. We ordered at least 8 or 9 things: and when I tell you that there wasn't one thing that wasn't SPECTACULAR: I'm not kidding. Aside from the unbelievable food, the ambiance was amazing. There were only 3 tables and a sushi bar, so it was quiet.
