I had a Bible that was my long past Grandmother's. It was in terrible condition. Pages missing. He quoted 200.00. He asked if I wanted a name on it. At first I said no. On the way home I realized I did want my Grandmother's name on it. I called him woth no answer. I texted him with the name of my Grandmother. He miss undstood. He only put the last name on it. I showed him the text I sent. He stated he had misunderstood. Said that if he tried to correct it, he might screw it up. So I got charged 200.00 for something I didn't want and am stuck with my 75 year old Bible not as I requested. When I went to pick it up, he works from his house, you could smell the skunk weed. Maybe don't get too rip stoned while you work, and you might not screw up people's family heirlooms. Thanks such a bummer At least if you screw it up. Fix it. Marty was so great to work with. He responded right away to my email inquiry and we discussed the project to add a cover to a children's nursery rhyme book from the 40s. We added an image of the original cover and a photo of my grandmother the original book owner to the back cover. This was my first time using a bookbinder, and I found the best. Marty is responsive, does great work (quickly), is affordable, and is a great person. My mother-in-law's favorite childhood book fell apart and needed to be rebound. He was meticulous and found a missing page. He asked for my permission before moving forward with binding it. Marty also looked online to see if there was a cheap copy he could purchase on my behalf to replace the page, which was really thoughtful. Later, I found an electronic version, printed the missing page, and brought it back to Marty to insert into the already repaired and rebound book. He did it right in front of me without additional cost. Marty was so patient with my questions and the back-and-forth communication. Repairing and rebinding this book is going to be my MIL's Christmas present. My wife has a very special Bible that she has been using since the day she came to Christ. Over time there have been so many notes added and so much love that the Bible began to fall apart. The spine had completely come undone and a lot of pages were loose. The cover is old and worn and shows a lot of character and he was able to keep that character and at the same time repair it to the point where it's usable and we don't have to worry about it falling apart anymore.
