I needed two mirrored armoire/wardrobe pieces to be moved from UES to the Bronx. It started off fine to set up the move but when it took over five hours to move the two pieces. You'd think I was moving a whole apartment. And when the pieces were damaged, my claim was reduced to $42.00 in reimbursement. Over $600 to replace the mirrors and when I pushed, I ended up with $250. So, if you have them move just hope they don't damage anything because you will be dismissed and ignored. So little accountability and concern for the customer and the aggravation they caused me and the damage to the armoire. If you get Ernie and Jackson as movers, be extra careful. If I can spare even one person what I went through it would be worth it. read more

Terrible customer service!!! I had my belongings moved out of my apartment, moved into storage, and then moved into a new apartment all with Moishe's. Somewhere in that process, Moishe's lost two of the feet to my bed frame and stained (grease stains and unidentifiable stains) and put holes in my couch. Things happen, but when I started the claims process (after paying additional for insurance while my belongings were in storage), Moishe's customer service has dragged it out for nearly a month with no explanation, poor responsiveness, and no customer satisfaction whatsoever for having damaged my belongings. Moving is never fun and I understand that things happen, but Moishe's has made it all a much bigger hassle! read more

Probably the most stressful day of my life. Probably the worst movers ever. They showed up to unload their truck for a two bedroom condo at 4:30 pm. What company operates like this ? Used them to move long distance NY to FL. Ants in their truck . Missing tv chords and screws. They broke my front door. They left parts of the bed in Miami warehouse rendering a very expensive bed useless. We will see if it ever gets brought to me. Poor customer service. Will stop my cc payment until all is rectified. STOLEN ITEMS! Tools were stolen by moving staff during a move-in, in Jersey City. The claims department refuses to assist if footage of the theft was not recorded. The damage they create is larger than the fee it costs to move. They cracked our marble dining table (they were rolling it on the floor - by amateurs) paintings scratched and damaged, console edges roughed up, side table glass broke. I am trying to get a damage claim done by them, they (Bashkim Spahi), they are not responsive, have to follow-up continuously and nothing is getting done. They are not taking responsibility for any damage (damage of a couple of thousand dollars) , not taking the claims serious and make you feel you are just left with all your damaged furniture.. I did my research, and used Moishe's against my better judgement by way of a trusted recommendation. Why were they recommended? Now that I do not know. I should have known by the customer service - I had to call a number of times to get an accurate quote, to get anyone to call me back, or to get anyone on the line who knew what they were talking about. But I booked them regardless. Movers arrived 2 hours early. I specifically asked for a 12-1 time window, which was agreed upon, because my new place was being cleaned and would not be ready until after 3PM. When we finally started, these movers treated my furniture and items like everything was made of rubber. Throwing boxes around, tossing a dresser down the stairs, smacking into walls and railings... I asked one of the movers, "do you think you guys are going to break my furniture?" And he replied, "maybe." Um, what? If I wanted to maybe break my furniture I'd throw the dressers down the stairs myself. The movers weren't informed about any of my special items (I have a guitar and an 88-key weighted keyboard). They didn't know my building was a walk-up. They truly knew nothing about my move. They also acted like this move was the biggest inconvenience they had ever experienced. If you don't want to move furniture, don't be a professional furniture mover. Simple as that. When all was said and done, he are just a few of the items they damaged. Estimate was $100 a month less than I ended up paying (Roi came for the estimate). I was told not to dismantle my furniture or pack my art work. The movers threw a fit when they arrived and aggressively packed my entire place. When I asked to be moved back in, they tried telling me it would be $1500 for 4 workers, and 5 hours. I reminded them I was quoted $800 for the move back in, and magically it got done with 2 guys. Scammers. They damaged my custom frame. Packed my artwork with nothing in between each piece. And my furniture looks like it's aged 10 years. Insurance claims for all of this only offers $34 because they go by weight. Just stay away from this company. Flat rate will end up costing the same amount in the long run and they actually do their job properly. I'd never recommend these people. I could rant for paragraphs but simply - they sent a crew who was careless, not equipped, trained properly, or strong enough to handle our furniture. They dropped my clothing in the street, handled pieces by fragile parts and breaking them off, bashed into street signs/ walls/ sidewalk, stood on our furniture, sent a truck too small, just to name a few. Even with all of the damage they tried to make me pay by credit card after business hours. 10 days later and we have yet to receive so much as an apology. They were eager to communicate to settle the bill, but not since I sent all of the information on damages outweighing the moving costs. Moving is stressful enough. This was my third move with Moishe's and unfortunately, it was a terrible experience. The team that was scheduled to do our move did not show up the morning of. While I understand the company cannot control that, the customer service we received throughout the day as they found a new team of movers was terrible. They did not communicate with us, and I had to keep calling them to ascertain when a team would be available to move us. They did not understand that our lease was up and that we would be unable to move another day. A moving team did not arrive until 5pm, and halfway through moving, they were replaced with others. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with the customer service and coordination from the office. To be fair, the movers that did show up worked incredibly hard at the end of a long day, and did an excellent job moving our belongings. They were a bright spot in a terrible day. read more

Update: Received a gratuity refund from management 3 weeks later (Bashkim). They seem used to this, which is concerning. In short, do NOT pay for their packing services. Moved during the pandemic, so the quote visit was done over FaceTime and the dispatch rep, Tom, was friendly. He said the movers would wear masks, gloves, and booties, label everything, and pack carefully (carefully enough that he said I could trust them to pack my expensive electronics). Movers came and packed with lightning speed but only half-heartedly wearing masks and with no gloves or booties. They labeled nothing. They left tape and trash behind that I had to throw away. Worst of all, when I opened my boxes, my belongings were literally all thrown together. Family mementos, fragile glass items, an old laptop -- tossed underneath heavy items. Cleaning supplies on top of eating dishes and cups. Jewelry chucked in the box; food items upside down. I was appalled. They moved my furniture and the boxes fine but the packing was just so so disappointing. I'm really glad I packed my most sensitive electronics myself and brought them myself. His emails are short and rude. I then emailed a few other people in the company (Mr. Nissim and Mr. Likaont) looking for some sort of response and I didn't hear back from either of them. I found them because they were a company who claimed to be amble to work with me in a tight timeframe. They claimed to be caring and always have the clients best interest at heart. How awfully wrong. I would never ever recommend this company. To move my stuff and store it for 1 month, they charged me just under $9,000. The movers lied about the time they were at my house and the time they drove. They added an extra 4 hours to the bill. The worst part...... the destroyed almost $3,000 of my belongings. boxes were clearly marked fragile. Boxes marked "glasses" "china" "crystal " - they shattered everything. Broke isn't an accurate description for what they did. When I told them and sent them pictures, they had the nerve to offer me $150 as a "good faith" offer. They broke all my china and all my crystal glasses. They broke Christmas ornaments from when I was a child. They broke my grandmas champagne flutes, all I had left from her. And they embarrassingly offered me $150. To add insult to injury they told me they sent the check 3/17/2020. I emailed them 4/10/2020 because I hadn't received it yet. They told me it would be in the mail the next day. Because we are located in Jersey City, we wanted to support a local business during this time, so we hired Moishe's for our recent move. We literally hired them to move us less than 1 mile away, from Van Vorst to 1st Street. In the process of the move, the movers did significant damage to our couch and media console (pictures of the damaged furniture attached). The furniture that was damaged was previously moved multiple times by Schleppers, Oz Movers, and Two Men and a Truck, even out of state from Boston to NYC, without harm, so we are incredibly disappointed with this outcome. We noticed both issues as we were moving and the movers told us to contact the management office, and that everything would be taken care of. We took pictures, and the movers took pictures of the damage as well. We filed a claim with our pictures and cost for the damage to the two pieces of furniture - more than $2,300! We've recently received an email from someone named Kayla, who told us that "in a show of good faith, Moishe's is offering you $325.00" for the damage their movers caused. At first they said that we selected a valuation coverage of $0.30/lb per article, and then came back and said that "after further review," we actually selected $1.00/lb. THE SERVICE PROVIDED WAS UNACCEPTABLE BY ANY STANDARD - therefore we want to be compensated appropriately. Even though our damaged furniture costs over $2,300, we told them that we would accept $900, but apparently they can't do that, even though the total cost of our move was well over their quoted price. We have attempted to speak with the Claims Specialist and Management team numerous times over the past 2 months, and they refuse to take our calls or call us back. When we've asked for Bashkim (their Claims Specialist), he has either been "in a meeting" or "out of the office." We've left messages for Bashkim and the President of the Company, with no response. They continue to tell us that no one from Management is available to address our concerns, including the President of the Company who "left the country" during COVID-19 - even though he was supposedly "in a meeting" with Bashkim when we called the day before. Tell us another lie Moishe's. Moishe's also quoted us a total cost for the move of $2,139, but the actual cost of the move was $3,606.50, a large difference of $1,467.50. We've disputed this amount, and again no response from the Company. Lastly, Moishe's, without our consent/permission, shared our personal contact information with a 3rd party who claimed to be from an "Antique Furniture Repair Shop" who wanted to inspect our furniture and repair it. When we asked what Company he was from, he wouldn't give a name and did not follow-up over email/text as requested - very shady behavior - we believe he was someone from Moishe's pretending to be a repair person. Also, there is no need for a repair specialist, we want to be compensated so that we can replace our damaged furniture! So, please DO NOT hire Moishe's. You will be significantly over-charged compared to the quoted price - your furniture will be significantly damaged - your personal information will apparently be given to shady individuals without your consent - the Company will then avoid you when you make valid claims - and you will be consistently lied to. We wouldn't recommend hiring them to our worst enemy! Please go with someone else!!! read more

THEY STOLE MONEY FROM US AND MADE OUR MOVE A NIGHTMARE - DO NOT BOOK THIS COMPANY. We scheduled them for a move 2 months in advance and had a representative come do a walk through of the apartment for an accurate estimate and truck size. The moving crew of 3 men arrive right on time and I go down to the loading dock to make sure they were able to get in okay - all very nice guys, but immediately appeared unprofessional as none were wearing Moishes shirts. They get into the apartment for about 5 minutes to do a scan of the items to be moved and told us they were heading down to the truck to get the moving materials to get started. About 10 minutes go by and we get a call from the lead mover telling us after looking at the items, they need a bigger truck and it will be here shortly as their base is just a few blocks away. About 20 minutes later we get a call from the management company that our crew has had a family emergency come up and will not be able to move us, and they're working on getting another crew - can not confirm if they will be one or what time. The dispatcher confirmed the truck they had was large enough for the move and it was a family emergency preventing them from being able to move. We thought it was odd as the two stories didn't align and there were 3 guys - surely not all 3 of them had a family emergency. But we still gave them the benefit of the doubt and allowed for them to find another crew. Mind you, off the bat this causes problems for us as our building has a strict elevator reservation policy for moves but we worked it out with them and got an extension for our reserved elevator. About three hours later the next crew arrives and my husband reaches for something in his wallet (which was on our counter the entire time) and he finds THE FIRST CREW STOLE $400 FROM HIS WALLET that was intended for the tip. There was not another person in our apartment during this time and my husband had taken out the cash the morning of the move - there was no other way it was lost or taken by anyone else. I call the management company immediately notifying them of the stolen money and they accused me of lying and said if I didn't physically see them steal the cash then I need to file a police report. No apologies, no "we will look into this and make sure this is taken care of" - just accused me of lying. Naturally I'm angry and upset but I follow their direction and file the police report. At this point, the second crew has half our apartment loaded into the moving truck and we get a call from the management company that because I filed a police report (as they advised me to do!!!) this is now a conflict of interest for them and they need to cancel our move. So they unloaded the truck back into our apartment and left us to find a new mover with less than 24 hours notice of our lease expiration. Not only were we out the stolen $400, the replacement movers cost us a fortune as apparently movers charge a premium for a last minute booking. I would like to note the second crew was absolutely amazing and more sympathetic to us than management so I do not want this review to be a reflection of them. This crew was incredibly professional and from the NY office, so perhaps they have better management there. The original crew was based out of the NJ office. It appears their crews are hit or miss - i highly recommend using another company and not taking the risk of getting a miss crew who steals from you and leaves you stranded. read more

Moishe's was recommended to me by my father who used them for a previous move and had nothing but great things to say. I couldn't agree more- Kosta and his team were fantastic from start to finish! They arrived right on time at our old apartment and explained in detail what the process was going to look like. They were extremely efficient in moving our furniture out of the old apartment and into the new apartment. I forgot to include a few items when I initially detailed the items that needed to be moved, however, Kosta (and his colleagues Victor and John) were extremely accommodating and willing to move these items for no additional charge. I ended up paying exactly what was quoted in the initial estimate (a very reasonable price for the service we received!!) I am not one to ever criticize businesses, but I had to specifically make a Yelp account for what I went through with Moishe's this week. I see many people have given negative reviews for furniture being damaged, careless workers, etc- but to all of you I would say: at least Moishe's actually showed up the day you were moving!!!!! Everything- price, customer service, communication- was standard and totally normal leading up to the move. Until the day of our move, when Moishe's called me 15 minutes *after* their arrival window ended to tell me they would be 5-8 hours late (not an exaggeration; this was the best estimate they could give on the day of the move). Trust me, we were fully booked- I signed the documentation and got multiple confirmation emails/texts. So, if you use Moishe's, don't feel like you are safe just because you get to those checkpoints throughout the process. Our new building only had a specific time window in which we were allowed to move in, which we had to reserve far in advance, so I explained this was absolutely ridiculous and the 5-8 hours late obviously would not work. I was essentially met with different versions of "uhhhh sorry, there's nothing we can do" from everyone at Moishe's- the dispatcher, the customer support rep, the management- everyone. After a few hours of them "trying to figure it out" internally (???) and sporadically calling me to tell me the same nothingness someone else had already told me (was also clear they were not communicating with each other), I decided to cut my losses and asked them to just schedule me for the next day. My lease ended the day of the move, so I had to negotiate with my previous building to allow me to stay an extra day for a prorated fee. So, this is where this nightmare review ends, right? Surely they apologized and booked me the next day no questions asked after leaving us high and dry? NOPE! Instead, they said that they would not be able to fit us in for a move until 11 DAYS LATER. Now, I am not in this industry, but seems to me that when you cancel on someone for an expensive service an hour after you were supposed to arrive, you go out of your way to accommodate them? Moishe's laughed at the idea of that. I insisted that they had to do right by us and move some things around to fit us in the next morning. If we could be bumped from the schedule after our move was supposed to begin, surely someone else could be bumped with 24 hour's notice? I was assured I would be given an answer here in the next 2 hours. So, 2 hours go by... then 3... then 4... then 5... Obviously in this timeframe, I paid a premium for last minute booking and found another mover. I would recommend with every fiber of my being that you do the same. I understand that mistakes happen, you can be shortstaffed, etc. However, the way they handled my situation even after the fact showed they did not even care what happened to us or the fact that we did not have a place to live. They did not care to schedule us for the next day. They did not care about any aspect of what we had agreed on. I would imagine if you found someone on Craigslist to help you move, they would be more timely and helpful than Moishe's. Do not use this company. Use literally anyone else. read more

I'd give them 5 stars except for (1) their initial quote didn't include several of my items, (2) the quote was hourly not flat, (3) the quote included 4 guys. Items #1 and #2 were resolved via emails and a phone call to make sure we were all on the same page prior to my move. The day of my move, only 3 guys showed up. Not 4. However, I will say that Kosta and his team did an excellent job and worked their butts off. Moving undoubtedly is a pain but Kosta made the process seamless. They resolved any hiccups that occurred during the move and were pleasant to work with. All of which I appreciated. read more

DISASTER. We had Tom, the "salesman", come to the apartment to estimate. He saw the furniture that needed disassembly. We call him and say look, our elevator can only be booked for two hours. Is that a problem? "Nope!" Well the movers show up 20 mins late. So 1/4 of our elevator time is used up. They show up with NO TOOLS. I am currently still waiting for them to find the proper Allen wrench to disassemble my son's bed. And reminder - I am paying BY THE HOUR. The crew disappeared for 25 mins for a break which they don't even notify me about. Still paying them BY THE HOUR. So let's recap - I'm paying by the hour while we now have to wait extra time for the elevator to become free again because they were late for their window, I'm paying by the hour while they hunt down tools, and I'm paying by the hour while they wander down the street taking a break without telling me. read more

Buyer beware! These guys will come to your house and provide you with an estimate then charge you 50% more. This is a bait and switch company. They tell you one hour travel time is included but then they charge you $169 for it. Even one of the movers said they do this all the time. Total BS! they lure you in with an attractive estimate and then hit you hard with hidden charges of extra material and extra time and extra BS My final bill came over a $500 dollars more than they've estimated, charging for boxing and packing of items they originally said was included in estimate! Their crew spent 3 hours to arrive to the new location, driving the same route I've driven (took me 45min) which obviously resulted in extra hours charge. They didn't have a real explanation of why they were so late... I left my move-out location 20 min after them and was in the new place in 45min. They probably stop for lunch on the way and then charge you for that extra time. So many better options out there. Don't fall for these guys BS read more

I've moved five times in three years - including across the country. Never have I had a worse experience. They broke the TV (the one Item I had expressed to them I was concerned about) by gripping and the bottom too tightly (cracking the screen and connections to the screen) and damaged several pieces of furniture. At least one item was lost in the three mile move that I had hired them for. They also charged a premium or 50% more than their competitor Piece of Cake. My roommate used them and his stuff all moved without incident for far cheaper. I can't express my dismay. Their "coverage" came back at about 10% of the value of damages and they offered me a 50 dollar gift card as an apology. I can not express my disappointment in using their services. read more
