The HoneyMovers are a game changer! My SO and I had never hired movers before, but we decided to finally spend the money on movers after painful and frustrating self-moves in the past. Movers around the Jersey City area were quoting us insane rates to move only two blocks - most over 1k. I found the HoneyMovers by Googling around, and since they are a moving help company (without the truck) we were required to rent our own UHaul, which was fine and cut down on the expense since it was such a short distance move. I used the service twice. The first was fine but the second resulted in damage to my most expensive furniture (including a dining table, bench, and sideboard) as well as the flooring. I was planning on selling the furniture but the chips and marks caused the buyer to back-out. The damage to the flooring resulted in a hit to the security deposit. Basically, I lost several thousand dollars (way more than the cost of the moving job). I spoke to Adam Longoria to see if he'd do the right thing. He gave me a rehearsed answer using the following excuses in this order: 1. We're not "movers," we're "helpers." 2. We don't have insurance! 3. Ok I'll pay but only up to the amount of the job. 4. I don't have money now but I will in two days. We need time to get a few hundred dollars together. I gave the company a few months to make good but he hasn't so I'll take this to court. If you need moving help, ask companies if they are licensed, bonded, and insured. Ask if they'll do the right thing if they damage your goods. Ask if they have any legal judgments against them for damaging a customer's property. read more

I've never written a Yelp review before, but had to make sure I gave Adam, Jay and Ella the amazing credit they deserve for doing such a great job. I emailed them at 12:28 pm on Wednesday and heard back at 2:19 that same day! I answered some basic questions (where/when/what etc.) and was ready to roll. I even had to request an additional two hours of work the day before and they graciously accommodated me. The day of the move Adam and Jay showed up right on time and were extremely professional and very careful with all of my belongings. They even picked up and drove the 20' UHaul I rented. They moved all of my belongings out of my third floor walk-up apartment without a single complaint and were a delight to work with. I really wanted to like these guys and book them for my move but they did not want my business! Like the other negative review, it started out great - I called in the afternoon and Adam picked up. He asked me to email him the details of my move (which I did after we hung up) and he would get back to me in a few hours when he was back in the office. Later in the evening, I wrote a follow-up email hoping to reconnect with Adam. It was the end of the month so I'm sure he's super busy and maybe my email got lost in the shuffle, no biggie. Surely with me bumping the email to the top of his inbox I'd get an answer back. After another 12 hours of radio silence, I decided to call and got the voice mail. I tried emailing one more time but still no response. I even took it one step further and booked them via MovingHelp (Uhaul's hired help site) hoping that it would spur them to action. Nada! Like a forlorn ex-lover, I was practically begging them to take my business but they just weren't having it. After my 1st successful move with this awesome company there was no doubt I was going to use this crew to pack our 10 and 26 foot trucks with 2 bedrooms, a garage, 12 IKEA units and a storage unit worth of stuff. Oh and also 27 giant crates with over 5000 vinyl records that they moved in record time downstairs and out the door. They laughed when I told them they moved the records in record time, but I was paying them, hah. On top of everything they literally packed the trucks in a Noreaster! I would have liked communication to be much better. I booked a 3 man job, paid for travel fee, and COI fee and emphasized how much assistance would be needed via emails but yet there was still confusion amongst the staff. It was my first time moving into my new apartment (and my first time ever using movers overall) and I needed help with loading, unloading, and assembly. The loading and unloading was only within a block radius so what I mainly needed help with was assembly. However, somehow despite my repeated emails emphasizing all of this help, the staff was still unclear about the assembly assistance. Upon arrival only 2 men arrived and when I asked where the 3rd guy was, the staff looked at each other with confusion. They had to call their company to confirm it was a 3 man job and then this led to time being wasted at the beginning. Thankfully, I had a few family members to help with the support of moving most of my belongings along with the team. However, there was a lot of miscommunication on the staff's end and lack of professionalism with trying to get a 3rd man to help with assembly as initially inquired. They mentioned it was not clear that every furniture had to be assembled (couch, tv stand, coffee table, desk, console table, and bathroom organizer) however what else would "help with assembly" mean as a movers company? And I also mentioned all of the above via email. The 3rd man eventually arrived after an hour and this helped move things along. Besides the miscommunication in the beginning, once the 3rd man arrived things were able to move along much quicker and all of the men were very efficient and did a great job with assembly. If the miscommunication did not occur in the beginning I would have rated this company 5 stars because the job was actually well done and the team was nice and arrived punctually. However, because of the time wasted and the lack of professionalism with communication I rate this company 3/5. read more

I strongly recommend others to not to hire HoneyMovers if they need reliability and professional behavior. I will be fair and truthful. I am sure that the owner of the company will refute the whole review and call me a liar as he did on our move date. Movers agreed to show up between 2-3 pm and did not communicate until we reached out to them several times on the move date until 2:45. Movers showed up at 3:15. We hired a team of 3 people. All movers were courteous and they started to move us. It may be just me but I sensed that several times they will all congregate in the truck and take small breaks in between until I would come look for them. I would not count it on them. I will advise others to keep an eye. The issue happened at 10:00 pm when movers were about 75% done and mentioned that they can't continue anymore due to personal commitments. We sympathized with them. It's late and their commitments were understandable. We were in a difficult situation as cleaning crew was supposed to start cleaning in the morning. We requested that can they return early morning since the move is left in the middle. The owner of the company Adam came to the property and for no reason started screaming and yelling that we lied to him about our move, he threw the tip amount on the floor and suggested that our cleaners should finish this move. He also mentioned that if we wanted a professional service then we should have hired Moishe's Moving Company. He insisted that he has provided us free tape. This clearly shows that they have no accountability of finishing the move. They are just a company that provides hourly labor and do not stand behind finishing the job. Adams behavior was entirely unprofessional. There were several ways we could have resolved the situation that night instead of leaving the move in the middle, throwing the gratuity money on the floor, calling us a liar and not offering any other solutions. By far the best movers we've had in the past 8 years! No one slacked. The guys met me at the Uhaul location, unloaded our pods in super fast timing, and moved us into our apartment in no time. When we saw that one of our tables were damaged (due to the movers we had in our home state-NOT honeymovers) the honeymovers were quick to offer suggestions to fix the table. I've used the HoneyMovers twice and been very happy with the result each time. First, they moved my daughter into a four-story walk-up in the East Village. They knocked it out in less than an hour. They managed the August heat and narrow staircase with no apparent trouble. Second, they moved me out of a high-rise building in Jersey City.
