Fire Aerial. I was quoted $20 for my service. It was completed in 20 minutes and when I got to the front, I was expected to pay over $110. during my appointment, she recommended a hair mask and a trim. Soooo much went wrong. I came in asking for a lighter look, keeping things cool toned and brunette, and trying to color correct as much as possible. I felt steamrolled by conversation the entire time and not listened to. When it came to my haircut I told her I'm getting married soon and didn't want to take too much off the length, but liked layers. She cut way too much off and now I have no idea whether that will grow back in time for the wedding. I left with BRIGHT yellow streaky highlights and was distraught, came back the next day to fix it. Nicole did not speak or consult with me at all and had an assistant throw toner on my hair without even asking what I wanted and without telling me what they were doing to my hair. Thank god I spoke up. Still-- left with terrible hair dye job that looks like she literally put grays into my hair. I'm going to have to pick up some dye from Sally Beauty because I feel so ugly and the hair I painstakingly grew out is gone. On top of that the service cost was not what was advertised on the website. I ended up paying over 350$ to get my hair fucked up. I had such a GREAT experience here. When I walked in, I didn't know what to expect. It was my first time here and with a new hair stylist who just started working in this area. I took a chance and I'm so glad I did! The salon is cute on the inside with an open layout. As with other buildings, the walls are brick and well-kept. The vibe was overall calm and welcoming, even though I came in on a quiet afternoon. Andria is new to Mojo but is quite experienced and took such good care of me. I went in for a cut + balayage and LOVED the results. When she washed out the toner the first time, she dried it and it wasn't the exact color I showed her earlier. She asked if I liked it but I wasn't sure so she took the time to mix and add more toner. Even if it was already getting late in the day, she wanted to make sure that it was what I wanted. Honestly, as a client, I was so appreciative and just beyond grateful for the attention to detail. I was ready to walk out unsure of my new color but she made sure that I walked out loving my hair. Having come from Los Angeles, I was skeptical I would find my stylist here (sounds snobby I know but I'm speaking the truth). I was blown away with the work done here at Mojo Hair Bar. Nicole and Dakota are miracle workers. My cuts stay on point months after, the styling is always fabulous and the coloring is always contoured to what is what is in style at the moment + to what will look good for the person (me). Okay, so I moved from a pretty big city to Lynchburg and was pretty much despairing of finding someone who not only understood my curly hair, but could do something fun with it. But when I tell you that Nicole gave me the best haircut of my life, I'm not lying. We had a really in depth consultation and you could tell she really listened to not just what I wanted but what I've had before and didn't want to go back to. Unfortunately, I had a really terrible experience with Ariele. I was excited to try this place and I will never be returning. I asked for 1-2 inches off, wanting to keep my hair still chest length, and Ariele took at least 6 inches off. My hair is DRAMATICALLY (6 inches) shorter, and it's not at all what I asked for. And yes, I measured. I had even shown exactly where I wanted it to fall in front, and it's now at least 3 inches shorter than where I showed. Long story short, I've never had this happen to me before, and I'm extremely disappointed and shocked. Sure, hair grows back, but giving a dramatic haircut when it's not asked for is an unforgivable mistake. It's as if Ariele didn't listen to my wants at all and just chopped away as she pleased. I had heard about them from a young lady who frequents their salon. I have been considering getting bangs for awhile. Everyone was SO absolutely friendly and welcoming and affirming! I only was charged $10 for a bang trim which was great and fair priced- especially for downtown! My only complaint is that my bangs are a bit uneven. This is the best kept secret in Lynchburg ladies!!! From even booking the appointment I was hooked, as it's all online and you can see the stylist schedule. Which works perfect for a busy women like myself. Nicole is not only a beautiful women on the outside, she has an amazing spirit and soul with HUGE talent!!! So I brought her six months of not doing crap to my hair and my last stylist did an all natural color that left my hair ole so sad and been up in a pony tail for the entire six months.... (A HOT MESS) Yet, Nicole worked her magic and my hair is now AMAZING. The color is perfect and she fixed my cut flawlessly, adding lots of jazz it had previously lacked. Don't get a haircut from Beck, I went in the other day and although he seems like a great person, he did a horrific job of cutting my hair. I asked him to make it even on both sides so I could flip my hair either way and it's a solid 3 inches longer on one side than the other. Also I asked for my hair to sit right below eye level and on one side it's so far jacked up and the other it goes down to basically the same point it was before I went there. If the owner sees this and wants to give me a free haircut voucher from someone else there I'll take this down but until then I won't be coming back. read more

I went to Mojo Hair Bar on 3/20/19 for the first time. The salon was easy to find and I easily found free parking at the community market building a few steps away. I was immediately impressed with the feel of the salon - very modern & classy. Nicole immediately greeted me and offered something to drink. I was made to feel welcome, even though I was 20 minutes early for my appointment. My color was a mess. After asking around I was told Nicole was simply, hands down, the best in town. They were 110% right. Nicole was confident after examining my tri colored hair -reassure me was fixable and we could come very close to the color I really wanted. She started by explaining she needed to make sure my hair was clean of impurities, deposits, and remove some of the over saturated color - I was expecting an awful stripping process - that's not what I got at all. Instead she used a product that was both relaxing and non-damaging. Turning a stressful process into a relaxed one. After being shampooed Andria gave me an amazing haircut. She truly listened to what I wanted in a haircut, the style I wanted, what I did and didn't like. The result is much better than expected and exactly what I wanted. She is truly a talented artist with her scissors. Nicole started my color. She asked again what I wanted and looked at pictures. She was honest that due to where my hair started we could get close that day, and pretty exact by my next appointment. She was fast foiling my hair, tinting, and glazing to achieve the perfect color. My color is knock out gorgeous, its dimensional, shiny, and compliments my skin tone. My hair feels incredibly soft and looks amazingly healthy. It's exactly what I wanted and no one else could achieve. Nicole has a great personality and I had a blast as a first time and now loyal customer. I hesitate to write a negative review because I fully recognize everyone looks for something different in a haircut. I went to Nicole after reading good reviews, but had quite a different experience and wish I had known this prior to my appointment. I had a pretty clear image of what I wanted for my haircut, but Nicole was a bit pushy and made decisions without consulting me. She cut off more hair than I had asked for and made her own major decisions about the cut, even after I explicitly told her what I didn't like. Multiple comments were made throughout the haircut that left me feeling both uncomfortable and unsettled. She also said there were a few things she would fix once she dried my hair, but as soon as the next client walked in, it seemed like she was in a rush to get me out and nothing was fixed. I left the appointment feeling both a bit upset and confused, especially after all the positive reviews I had read. While I don't hate the haircut I got, it definitely wasn't what I was expecting and not the type of experience I typically look for in a salon. If you're looking for someone who will go their own direction with your hair, this would be the perfect place for you, but I don't recommend if you have a firm idea of what you want. read more

Best color person however very expensive. We have been going for two years...NO MORE Owner Nicole is rude and always wants cash "so my husband" doesn't find out. He controls my money. I found this extremely strange. We had a 50 dollar bill that we had given them, admittingly we found it after the huge windstorm. We only gave it to her due to not being able to pay with credit. This place is amazing!!! I travel with my husband for his work and have my kiddos in tow. It's hard to find a place that does well in current fashion and tends. Nicole and Gabby are the best ever. Wonderful atmosphere and KID FRIENDLY! I had both of my boys with me (5 & 11) and not all surrounding salons allow small children. Nicole worked her magic on my hair. Both ladies were very friendly and warm spirits about them. They are up to date on current styles and treatments. Nicole was very informative about what she was going to do and she also kept check to if this was what I wanted. Horrible, horrible experience here. Nicole is the one who cut my daughter's hair and will bear the brunt of this review. My daughter has curly hair and Nicole obviously has little experience with such. Every suggestion or any information I gave concerning what when had done for the past 15 years was cast aside like garbage. She literally told my daughter that I did not know what I was talking about but to not tell me she said that. When I refused the shampoo, she acted insulted. When I attempted to refuse the heat, she actually got mad and went on an 8 minute tirade about how important heat was for moisture... Which is insanely absurd. I kept trying to defer to my child to let her make her own decisions but in a situation such as this, I handled it badly and let it continue. My daughter is not one for confrontation and just kept replying, 'No, it's OK. It's fine.' I just didn't want to embarrass her. Nicole then proceeded to use 4 different instruments of heat on my daughter's curly hair. When I stepped up while she was flat ironing her hair and asked her not to do that, Nicole's response was, "How to you expect me to know how the hair lays when it's not straight. If I cut it when it's curly, it's going to look like a hot mess." That's a verbatim quote. My daughter does not straighten or blow dry her hair. To cut hair in a different frame is insane to me! My daughter repeatedly said she only wanted 1-2 inches removed. Nicole insisted that she needed at least 3. She then proceeded to remove half my daughter's hair in spaced out, chunky layers and frame her face. Not what we asked for at all. So, after disregarding EVERY thing I said, pressuring a child, and doing exactly what she wanted, we ended up with a horrible cut and now I'll have to go elsewhere to have it corrected. We were both in tears and I have learned a valuable lesson. The first time someone refuses to listen to me, we're leaving. That woman was crazy. read more

I was home coloring as I am extremely busy and rarely make the time to or have the time for that matter to get my hair done. It honestly got to the point, since I did not have a stylist in Lynchburg since we moved here........I just had to do something. The color was really red and it really did nothing for me. Usually, in my experience, it is hard to remove red from hair. I have always had to put up with a process of a few visits to get it to where it needed to be. Well NOT THIS TIME! Dakota was and is a great stylist and colorist. My color is beyond perfect, no red, but with nice highlights that really compliment my complexion. He listened, asked all the right questions and did a fantastic job. His assistant Martin was attentive and professional. My cut is fantastic. I honestly feel like I look 10 years younger. Who does not want that?! I will definitely be back. Dakota and Martin are definite assets to this business. In fact, I am bringing my daughter in next weekend to get her hair done.
