I NO LONGER FEEL "SAFE" AT THIS WALGREENS!…read more This is not about the service I received in the Greek town location. It's about what happened after I left the store. This occurred approximately 14-hours ago (12:30-ish am/2/3/24). It was around mid-night that I decided to walk down the street a few blocks to Walgreens. I only purchased cereal and milk... and a small bag of popcorn. For the record, hopefully everything inside the store was caught on the security cameras. While shopping in the aisles, I had spoken to a police officer who was shopping, thanking him for his service. They do a job that you couldn't pay me enough to do. Anyway, after walking slowly through the store (I walk slow due to health problems), I paid for each item then stepped aside to make room for the next customer while I looked at my receipt and put the items in my own (blue & white) shopping bag. It's made of a sort of sturdier than paper cloth. I got myself together and finally exited the store at a slow walking pace. By the time I reached the traffic light at the end of the block (going north at Monroe), I stopped to open my bag of popcorn. I was struggling to open the bag, due to health problems). Suddenly, a slightly taller than me, heavy-set male approached me from behind, demanding in a threatening tone to show him what's in my bag. I initially thought I was being robbed. I slowly turned around asking, "Why? (trying to stall and access)". The street was dark, isolated, and no traffic. Where's a cop car when you need one? Hey. There's a cop inside the Walgreens. That said, the guy kept demanding I show him what's in my bag. Was I being mugged? I asked, "Who are you?" He seemed to get frustrated not answering my question and demanded I show him the contents of my bag. Now, I really think I'm getting mugged. I still asked him, "Why?" He got even more frustrated and said, "Just open your bag!" Once again, I asked "Why?" Was this a hungry homeless person?,,, Retarded?... I mean, mentally challenged. Should I scream? I suddenly thought to myself... Is this a Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman moment (Feb 26, 2012) when a non-Black guy (hiding a gun on his person) stalks a lone African-American male in a dark, isolated area with no witnesses to start a physical altercation (fight) after which said non-Black guy pulls out the gun he was hiding, to murder the African-American male... Then claim he feared for his life, shooting in self-defense of the altercation he started with a guy who was minding his own business? He then said something like. "There's a box in your bag". A box? I turned to look inside my bag to see what box he was referring to. Before I knew it, he reached inside my bag and grabbed my box of cereal (Cheerios) and walked off real fast in the direction of the Walgreens. Did I mention, I don't walk fast? I walked back to the store to tell the police officer inside (provided he was still there) and the Walgreens that I had just been robbed by a hungry homeless person. He took my box of Cheerios and ran off. I still had the milk. I was willing to risk it sounding funny, By the time I reached the front entrance, the young woman who waited on me at the cash register met the guy just outside the store. She was talking to him. Oh... Is this moron a Walgreens employee who didn't have the sensed to identify himself as such? He was not wearing a Security uniform, and he was not the police. When I got there, the cashier was so apologetic. She told me that after my very slow departure from the store, an alarm went off. Really? It must've been silent because I didn't hear any alarm... and I was walking slow as a snail. I asked, "This is what sent this moron (still standing there for some reason) stalking down the street behind me?"... Oh... I get it now... He was treating me like I was a CRIMINAL. He expected me to blindly do as he said while refusing to answer my basic questions ("Who are you?" and "Why do you want to see what's in my bag?") Had I realized that, this would've ended with me cussing him da'hell out on the street... and probably escalating. Why didn't anyone tell the cop inside the store? Why send an inexperienced, over-excited, don't know anything employee who is not even law enforcement to assault me? OK. Now I can't help this. Was it because I'm black? Although the cashier apologized, this incident is still with me. For all I know, I was targeted, it was done one purpose, and I'm not convinced it won't happen again. Anyway, I just thought I should document this incident somewhere, in case incidents like this happen all the time to black people at this Walgreens location... or any others.

This pharmacy is always giving is such a hard time filling or refilling anything sent by my doctor…read moreover. It's always a vague answer like we need to confirm what your doctor's instructions are or it's an insurance issue. I always make sure to confirm with doctor before they send anything over and this just has been so inconsistent. Might need to find a different pharmacy nearby to avoid anymore issues or delays for when I actually need these meds.

Honestly I don't know how this store is still open if the employees and managers are rude and racist.

She also listened to my concerns about how whenever I go somewhere else by brow tint fades. She told me some tips and made it a perfect color. I've been going to her for the past 5 months and I always get compliments on my brows! I go every 4-5 weeks, and by the last week my brows start to look ugly and she fixes them right up. Usually after I'd get my brows done somewhere else they'd start to look shapeless by the first week.

They said I need to go to urgent care for that. I go to urgent care, they find nothing wrong, I go to my primary doctor they find nothing wrong. Months later it is still there, I have a routine cleaning. They tell me I need a root canal and the bump is from a root canal. They went ahead and quoted me thousands of dollars and made an appt for me with the endodontist for this to happen. I thought this was strange, so I wanted to go see an endodontist somewhere else to get a second option. So I head over to aspen dental, the endodontist took X-rays and a quick check, and said nothing is wrong but it looks like you have an overdue filling that caused your gums to swell. Chicago dental was going to preform a completely unnecessary procedure on me. I told them there is a filling I need done, they saw the images and filled it. I'm not sure if it's a money scan or truly a lack of knowledge. They cost me thousands of dollars telling me in the first place the bump I had was nothing they could deal with when in reality it was just an overdue filling. The front desk staff is very unknowledgeable and never should have let this situation happen.

I will say I'm not a huge fan of their pedicure chairs, they're aesthetically pleasing but not the most comfortable. Booking can also be a challenge, but if you plan ahead you should be just fine.

This is the first time I'm writing a review on my procedure. Six years ago I had a skinny bbl done…read moreby Dr Lorri Cobbins. I was naive at the time but I really wanted a little bit added to my bottom so I went in for a consult. I was also really skinny (like model skinny) so even then she told me oh yeah I've had patients your size or smaller do procedures by me, I wish she rejected me or at least did a less risky procedure since her skills didn't match the words I heard. My body was so perfect in every way before this procedure (just wanted a little boost on my bottom). I remember I said "I heard some peoples shoulders get bigger she was like "Oh no that's not true at all." She did Lipo to my stomach which barely had much fat, inner thighs, and back. Anyways 6 yrs later and I'm struggling with my body image. I've lost my confidence, my skinny bbl doesn't look great, can't find a solution because I have skin laxity on my back and stomach, scarring/tethering (again this is from the aggressive lipo she did and how she used the surgical tools), Lipo fibrosis on stomach and back and yes the upper back looks bigger. I followed all the instructions of wearing the compression garment and everything. The problem wasn't the aftercare instructions I perfectly followed, the problem was the poor surgical technique. She did aggressive lipo on me, took out too much fat because I was thin and ruined the look of my skin. I now have 2 rolls on my back that I never had before my procedure and I feel always bloated for some odd reason no matter what I eat healthy or not even though my diet didn't change. I only gained about 10 pounds (still at a weight women would love) but even with that if the surgical skills were good the body would grow out nice and even, it wouldn't look botched. I wish she rejected me and told me to come back in a year or 2 if I want something permanent after I try something temporary. I wish she told me thoroughly and openly what kind of problems can come up (this was only briefly discussed and none of the problems I have now were discussed as potential issues after surgery). I wish she gave me a temporary option or smaller procedure not as damaging as a first solution to see what it would look like. I didn't receive any other options. I think plastic surgeons (especially ones who've had botched outcomes from their work) need to give a couple options and really think about if the contouring will look nice with each option so the patient can have a good long term outcome and more people will trust them for procedures. Dr. Cobbins took away the most thing that made me confident back then and damaged my body. I am struggling in every way imaginable because of this procedure done by Dr. Lorri Cobbins. The most perfect parts of my body were ruined because of horrible surgical technique and now I am left grieving it. I struggle every day to look for a way to fix it and I'm too afraid to go to someone else that may further damage me. I don't take photos anymore like I used to, I don't try on clothes when I shop like I want to. I can't look at myself in the mirror the same way. Please if you want a better/different look try temporary cosmetic things first so they go away if you don't like them and you don't have to live with the permanent result of a botched procedure.

The window display is adorable, very eye catching. You can tell hard work was put into it, so bravo to whomever worked on it. You can tell whoever worked on the display is very keen on details. When walking in, I was immediately greeted by a sales lady. She seemed very nice, but she spoke so quietly. I could hardly hear her, so I kept asking her "what, what did you say?". From what she said, I could hear that everything was made naturally and in house. That's cool. I like shops like that. The next person I met was one of the owners. She kept asking me questions about what I was doing in the shop or what I needed. I just wanted to browse. She kept following me and kept suggesting that I try the Illuminate on. I do not like wearing makeup, or really anything on my face. I tried explaining that to her, but she kept pressing on. I let her try it on my hand. I'm not doubting that it isn't a good product, but it wasn't what I needed. You loose respect and credibility as a salesperson if you are too pushy and desperate. Just relax.. The guy behind the desk was the icing on the cake tho. Not sure what his role is here, but it seemed like he was so forceful and demanding. Everyone including the owner was nervous around him. He snapped at one of the sales girls to grab him a bag. Now I know why the girl in the front was so quiet. read more

My husband and I wondered over to Wicker Park last week. Each store has its own personality. Some of the stores look really cute, some look really runned down. Mojo spa is one of the cuter places that we stopped in. We walked over to the skin care section and it is overwhelming! Mojo spa has so much to offer, I didn't even no where to start. My skin is horrible, so when Jula came over to help us... I was thanking god. Just by asking a few questions about my skin and my cleansing routine, she was able to show me some of the things she thought was best for my oily/ dry/ pored skin. Jula not only was knowledgeable about the products but also gave me some great advice on my cleansing routine for my skin(she even wrote it out for me!) This girl is the best! I ended up buying the high society moisturizer, bombshell facial soap and the twilight scrub. It has been over a week and my skin feels/ looks great! I never have been happier! Jula told me to come back and let her know how I liked the products, but Wicker park is to far from my house.. So here's what I think Jula! Two years ago, I walked into Mojo Spa and I've been a faithful client ever since. It was love at first sight. They truly aim to please everyone who walks into the front door. From serving delightful deserts, to tasty tonics, and brunches that rock. I have to say that beyond everything, the products smell awesome and they really work. The top fave's are as follows: 1. The Picture Perfect Face Cleanser is amazing for acne skin in the winter. It's amazing how soft and smooth pimple free my face feels when I use this product. 2. The Coco Cleanser is also great and the one thing I must say is how fast it works. I remeber using this the first time and watching a zit go down right before my very eyes. 3. All the make-up is fabulous!!!!! The eyeshadows can be applied both dry and wet, which I think is great when your trying to achieve a day and night look. 4.The soaps and body lotions are as divine as they smell. I absolutely adored this place!! I was wandering the Wicker Park streets with my mom and we noticed how cute the store looked from the outside and had to stop in. We first loved how vibrant the spa was! It had a very welcoming and colorful environment. The staff was extremely nice and helpful with any questions we had. We mainly talked with the dark haired girl (forgot her name) maybe Julie? Anyway, she was such a pleasant girl to talk to and made for a very pleasurable experience, along with the rest of the staff, very sweet! I walked in not planing on purchasing anything but got the Illuminata and s.w.a.k. with the berry pie lipstick. I loved the samples and can't wait to put it to good use. My only regret is that I didn't get any services done! I will, without a doubt, be doing that next time I'm in town! Also, the fact that they make all their own products is a big plus for me. What can i say about this place. From the first time i walked through the doors i have felt like i was part of the family. I live in the neighborhood so this place has become a frequent stop of mine each time i roam Milwaukee. I had never gotten nail services before and my first with Sarah was a truly life changing experience. I am HOOKED and have been back many times since. i have also gotten to wander around the store many times with the owner Amanda and i cannot tell you how it has changed me. i have a specific regiment for my skin now of their all natural products and my face has never glowed like it does now. The Doll Face Moisturizer is my daily life saver... and the pumpkin scrub has become my favorite part of showering. I went in last weekend for their beauty and brunch that their owner makes and serves up personally. I swear there is nothing this woman cant do. Mojo is seriously a sparkling gem in this city, and my face and nails thank me each day for stopping in! read more

Some people are born with soft ladylike hands, some with hands that feel more like exfoliating gloves and palms rough enough to grate. I, unfortunately, was cursed with the latter. I remember my mom used to say: "If only you were as hardworking as your hands feel..." After years of being clasped in isolation, my hands may finally see the end to this jagged curse. Just off the Damen stop of the Blue Line lies my salvation: Mojo Spa Boutique inside Sole Nail Lounge. My sister and I walked into SOLE one Sunday afternoon and what a delectable experience it was --- homemade beauty products of chocolate and berry flavors lined the shelves, as two helpings of free freshly baked cookies slowly lined our tummies. The menu of spa services was oh-so-tempting...too bad it was too late for us to sample any of them. We did however, try out some Mojo Spa products (www.mojospa.com). The Bucktown/Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago is so great because it actually feels like a neighborhood with all the local boutiques and individually owned stores and restaurants. Mojo Spa has been on my list of favorite places since the day I moved in. The goodness of natural food, friendly service, and attention to detail by Amanda is so comforting and welcoming. I can talk college football, facials, food, parties, anything with the awesome staff in an environment that is all about relaxing and enjoying the people around you. After my first pedicure, at which I was offered to taste the desserts fresh from the kitchen, I wore my little plastic flip-flops all the way home on a CTA bus because I was so happy and pleased at my sparkly red toenails!! This is love. I would feel comfortable bringing my girlfriends or my boyfriend in. It is just one of those places that makes you feel good. So spread the mojo and treat yourself to a Chicago gem! :) read more

I got my makeup done by Julia last week and I have to say, just a week after using the products, my skin is clearing up! I HATE wearing makeup so it took some convincing for me to even sit in the chair but I am so glad I did! I bought the Illuminata and the Dark twinkle and my skin glows! I even bought the cake lip jam pop and my lips look and feel so soft. The eyeshadow is a killer too. Julia made me look and feel like a queen! I attached a pic of me with my Mojo makeup on. Everyone was saying how naturally beautiful I looked which is something I have NEVER heard before. Julia showed me how to apply my makeup because lord knows I suck at makeup! Come get your makeup done here, Julia does a good job! And it's free! I will be back! Next time I am here I am going to try the bombshell line. I've been here a few times, and every time it has been an awesome experience. There are two main points about this place that everyone should know: 1) Caring owners I was in here around Christmas, and one of the owners was ringing me up for my purchase. He took a look at my nails and said, "Do you want a manicure?" To which I naturally responded, "Excuse me?" He then told me that none of his technicians had appointments, and I could have one for free if I wanted. They turned out BEAUTIFULLY and lasted forever, not to mention the technician took her time and gave me a hand massage. 2) Awesome products Their products make great gifts, and typically I stop in here to grab something last minute or for stocking stuffers. They also smell amazing and I always end up buying a bunch for myself. The other owner makes the majority of their products, and they are all free of toxins and amazing for your skin. Let's talk about Mojo Spa for a moment - I'm not the hugest in terms of cosmetics and things of that sort, I'll be honest, most of the time I've just been into whatever I could find cheaply in whatever chain store I was in. Mojo makes me reconsider with their line of amazing serums and tantalizing soaps. Their body scrubs alone are worth visiting, and usually you can get three for the price of two which makes the deal pretty sweet. Their incense is pricey, but I've always got the dollar store for that! The staff are always nice and unlike some of the other shops pushing similar product, actually seem to care about the folks walking in. George offers me coffee every time I come in here (though I hardly ever take it due to needing my coffee to have twice as much cream as bean in it). If nothing else, get in here for those scrubs! **Review is for mani/pedi service The four stars are for all around amazing service and products. This place is so inviting, it's products unique and employees very friendly. Not to be taken the wrong way, but a completely different experience for me as none of the staff are Asian, nor the owner. I was surprised it made for a different experience, and combined with using their handmade, non-toxic products makes me a regular. I can't recommend them enough as they also have an amazing selection, and really focus on the expeience. With that, I take away a star because they rarely answer the phone! It's like a 1 out of 10 chance, which doesn't make sense to me. Trust me I've called on several occasions, and unless you have an online booking system (which they dont) then I think this needs to change. read more

Mojo Spa is like comfort food and pampering yourself all in one step. The homemade products smell like grandma's kitchen on baking day! Yummm....indulgence without the calories. The staff are great! I hadn't been in since May but when I went in last week the owner not only remembered my name, but he remembered the our conversation about our shared addiction to Lost. They always offer you a little homemade somethin' somethin' which is always delicious. But down to the really important stuff...the mani-pedi's are great. The last a long time and the ladies take the time to do it right (unlike some chop shops that leave your nails looking like you tried to do your nails with a weed wacker). It's fun, quirky, personal and reasonably priced. The perfect combination for a little self-indulgence. read more

Discovered Mojo Spa a little over two years ago and have been a huge fan since! What brings me to Mojo Spa is Amanda's (the owner) committment to her products and how good my skin feels when using them. Each product is handmade by Amanda with the finest ingredients and always with the emphasis on one's own beauty. My favorite product? There have been so many ~ but the product I have been using since day 1 is ILLUMINATA. This all-in-1face cream, moisurizer, foundation is what my skin loves the most! My second preferred product on the list are the body scrubs, with my favorite being the GET UP & GLOW body scrub. This particular scrub has the prettiest smell to it and leaves my skin soft. Love love love this place! The atmosphere is toxic but in a delicious and stunning way! They makes their own soaps, lotions, makeup, candles, and other skin care products and also have spa treatments such as mani's and pedi's. The staff is amazing and so helpful. Do yourself a favor and check this place out! Walking in, I instantly smell the wholesome fragrance of vanilla, fruity and sugary treats. Amazing soap replicas of the popular cupcakes and macaroons...It's a sensuous assault on your senses! My facial products are clean and simple. I highly recommend trying out the Ambrosia Line. Not only does it help ease my itchy, dry skin, it's light weight, too. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. Any questions I have they are quick to answer with a smile. This is the ONLY place I go to get my manicures and pedicures. The technicians are not desultory. It's worth every penny :) read more

I met Amanda, creator of Mojo Spa Products about 3+ years ago and was immediately converted from traditional skin care and beauty products to the Mojo products. And mainly it was because of Amanda's knowledge, integrity and her ability to know how to reach her customers - not to mention her food preparation techniques and how she tranfers her expertise into the combination of ingredients of the products she produces. the sales girls seem really attentive, but in kind of an annoying way.. i don't mean to be rude because they are all super sweet, but sometimes i just want to browse with out being bombarded with sales pitches.. anyways.. the services are AMAzing, I had a mani pedi, and free make up while you wait.. I actually bought a few products that I probably wouldnt have thought twice about because I loved the feel of the make up.. My lady and I went in for mani/pedi combos a few months ago and , I must say, we were given the royal treatment! The owner's husband George made us tea, fed us cake and kept us entertained while the nail techs worked their magic on our pathetic nails. We left with smiles on our faces and immediately started to plan our next visit. George is a great guy and a major asset to this business. Just a quick note to say that this place is great! My neice and I went in for a quick look and got wisked away to have a last minute manicure done. They took the time to chat and gave us drinks, did our makeup. My nails after a week are still fantastic. My neice lives in Chicago and will definitely go back. I will as well when I visit. Very awesome! Customer service is unmatched and the technicians are friendly and skilled! Pedicures were detailed and not rushed through. Very nice setting. The pedicure chairs may be a bit uncomfortable but that was my only complaint. Techs took much consideration is making sure my toes didn't get ruined by putting on my boots after the pedicure. I'm really hard on my nails and my dazzle dry manicures from her last 2 weeks, and I love that I can take it off with nail polish remover in between if I want (instead of going back into the salon). She has like 200 dazzle dry color options too so I'm not stuck with the boring pinks either. Her pedicures will leave your feet feeling like baby feet because she gets all your dead skin off, even between your toes. My boyfriend who generally hates all this kind of stuff wishes he could get a mani/pedi from Erika each week. We had a great time chatting with her about the salon (it's a newer-ish location) and how she was planning to decorate it. The color selection was maybe a bit limited-they had a lot of bottles of color, but many were very similar hues, so their selection didn't exactly cover the spectrum. I found something I liked, but I could see if you went in with a specific color in mind you might be disappointed. They also serve coffee/wine, which is a nice little touch.
