The coffee is fantastic, and the place is always busy with people catching up over coffee on the funky bench seats. The eats menu is simple and reasonably priced, allowing for the coffee to be the focus. And they have a small sweets cabinet for those with a sweet tooth. Tall Short also turns into a bar on Friday nights, and Saturday and Sunday afternoons it seems. Judging by the beer, wine and eats board, it's something I need to check out.

The base for my partner's egg Benny was a thick chunk of Turkish bread (by the look of it), which we both thought was absolutely brilliant and a wonderful idea. Plus, they give you a little biscuit with your cocoa!!! Love those tiny little things that make such a difference. Emjays certainly fit the bill on both those accounts, the trendy interior and plants hanging from the ceiling were just icing on the cake. Emjays is counter service and as I walked in there were several tables of (assumably) near-by office workers having meetings or sitting while waiting for their morning take-away. There's menus to peruse before you order and I opted for a simple cup of mint tea. Nestled at a stool on the long wooden table towards the back of the cafe, I was charmed when my tea arrived brewed in a Chemex. Novel, Emjay, novel. While I didn't sample their menu there was a display cabinet full of fresh salads and sandwiches, and a menu of meals for breakfast through to lunch. I'm sure if you came in during the 12:30-2:30pm time frames it'd be busting to the walls with hungry office workers seeking lunch. There's also a decent size outdoor seating area that I didn't notice until I was leaving. Don't forget to check that for space to sit if it all looks to full inside. Still, should you need a decent cup of tea, a quiet place to demolish your inbox and pleasant surrounds to do it in, Emjays might just be what you're looking for.
