This place was recommended to us by a local jeweler. He said do you want Mexican restaurant food or food like we make at home? We said home cooking for sure so he said go here and to try the chicken tacos and he was right they are delicious! We sat down and they quickly brought out chips and delicious salsas. The owner took our order and the food came out shortly after. The wife had the chile relleno plate and it was very yummy. I had chicken tacos and shredded beef. Both were delicious! The owner thanked us for coming and said they also serve breakfast so if we have time after our teeth cleaning we might go try that as well! Will we go back?? Heck yes we will. Tried this place twice and both times we got sick from the food. The guy overpriced the item especially for the white people. He overcharged 2 guys for some tacos and 2 drinks. 2 words, f'in amazing. Authentic? Yep, you're in Mexico, not far into Mexico but close enough. The food is delicious. The birria is a must try, and their crema is better than any sour cream in the US. Salsas are hot af, and the rice/bean sides are great. The soup is to die for Cheap end, will run you about 200 pesos with a tip and drink. Service is amazing from most of the staff here. WiFi is blazing fast for anywhere, especially Mexico. And sometimes the street bands will perform here for tips. Always nice to throw them some USD $ or pesos. All in all, my absolute favorite here. read more

The food is delicious. Get there around lunch when chicken just comes off grill. In addition they put on table bunch of different sauces plus a plate filled with vegetables. Service- Mexico is a slower paced country.. Owner can be brusk in season. Off season, (hot) he's a very nice guy. He works hard. This place is just OK. Not bad enough though to not pay like the sign says. For being in Mexico it wasn't that cheap. About average compared to home. Thought it would have been better based on the reviews. Tried several dishes: Fish Soup (tasted like frozen fish), Tongue Taco (the meat had no flavor, you add the flavor with condiments), Beef Tamale (Way way too much dough, meat was fine) , Steak Fajita combo dinner ( Meat was really not good, tough and rubbery, no flavor w/green peppers & onions and a side of rice and beans). Had beer, the only one offered is a really boring beer, Tacate on tap. We were in town for the dentist like everyone else. But most of these people are from places like ID, MT, ND etc.... Places that probably don't have a lot of Mexican food. So when you read all the outstanding reviews on the different sites take that into consideration. We live in Southern Calif. where there are many Mexican restaurants in all different price ranges. Next time I'll try another on the list and hope to find something better. read more

No la mejor comida mexicana que e comido y los precios están un poco elevados comparado a otros lugares que hemos ido aill en algodones. Podrían mejorar en higiene, parece que vuelven a usar los condimentos que te sirven cuando te sientan (lechuga, tomate, y pepino) y lo tienen rodeado de moscas en ves de cubrirlas o cambiarlas después de cada uso. Stopped in Los Algodones to get some real Mexican tacos. Got directed here by one of the numerous dental salesmen. I had two asada tacos and two al pastor tacos. Many other varities were avaiable. They came first with chips and salsa (hotter than I expected). The tacos came with onions, cilantro, avacado sauce, cabbage and Pico de Gallo. Jose Molca's taco shop is our go-to place in Algodones. Believe me, in seven years, we've tried them all. It's a family owned business, where you will meet Jose, sometimes his wife, Hertencia, daughter Bangla and son-in-law Jhovanni. There are no prices on the wall, where offerings are spelled out. If you want something not listed they will make it for you, to perfection. After eating your delicious selections, you will be surprised by the very reasonable prices. This is a cool little place with really good food. When you sit down they bring you chips with 3 or 4 kinds of salsa and a plate with different veggies. They don't have a menu per se but they have signs on the wall with some of the stuff they sell. You can also just tell them what you want and they'll make it for you. Someone said this was just OK. That's crazy. I grew up in So Cal and have spent extensive time in Mexico trying the cuisine from North to South. Molcas Tacos is superb. The masa for the tamales is creamy, rich and flavorful and the best I've ever had. Authentic and delicious. Who could ask for more. And as for the price it is nowhere near as expensive as the states or other places here in Los Algadones. It is arguably the Mexican food I have ever had. Try it, you'll like it. read more
