The menu is slightly limited, but had a bunch of ceviche tostadas and I tried the Seafood rice, which I could only eat about a third as the serving was very large. I guess many Americans when they come to Algodones want to eat at an American restaurant such as this one. If I wanted a hotdog or a Philly cheesesteak sandwich, I would get it at home. I was really looking forward to Mexican food. I ordered the seafood rice and it was OK. Had five large shrimp and minuscule little bits of octopus throughout the Spanish rice. It was very bland. I dumped the entire bowl of hot sauce into it and that made it much better. I was shocked that they charged me for a refill on my iced tea. It was so full of ice that I only got about two sips before it was empty. It is difficult to find. There is no sign. In case you are trying to find it and this is the kind of restaurant you're looking for, it is next door to the Venus building which is quite well marked just before the curve where the cars go down the hill to the border.The most favorable thing about this restaurant is that it's air-conditioned. Cleanliness counts too. English-speaking and friendly people were nice as well. It was just not a Mexican restaurant. I would not return. read more

Drove about 4 hours round trip to check El Patio out based upon reviews only to find a sign on the door they are closed for the entire month of August. Pretty disappointed, would have been nice if they would have posted their closure online somewhere. read more

Some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. The bonus is seeing 70 year old women dancing a live version of Jimmy Buffet's "Margaritaville". The service was top notch and the outdoor seating festive. You can't go wrong with this place. read more

Off the beaten path in Los Algodones, Mexico but well worth it! Probably the best margarita I've ever had!! My hubby & I shared a steak quesadilla with onions & jalapeños & it was enough for the two of us & quite delicious!! Freddy was our server & he just oozed of personality!! Very clean & sitting outside under shade was awesome!! Brand new bathrooms that were so nice! Live entertainment there was great too! Had all the Americans & Canadians singing loud!! Wish I had taken pics! We had the Clam Chowder, Grober Taco (Shrimp Taco), Fish Taco, Chicken Fajitas, Shrimp Cocktail, Rice, Beans, Cadillac Margarita and Strawberry Margaritas...it was ALL amazing! The location was not hard to find but a little hidden, as it sits in the back of a medical plaza off the "main drag" by a block. Just follow the signs, it is worth the visit! We were concerned about whether there was any inside seating and/or AC, so we were pleasantly surprised at the interior when we arrived! It was a clean and fairly new restaurant with a nice bar and ambiance. The service was great and the prices were incredibly fair for all we got! DEFINITELY our new favorite place in Los Algodones!! All reviews are correct. We can't say enough about the food and although we only had the Mango Margaritas and one shared dish, everything was exceptional. Not really a long walk at all ! and I'm a bit disabled , it's just uphill on the same street you drive out to the border right before the downhill turn and walkways its located on the right before the turn in a small gray painted marketplace with other businesses. Very new and great decor more upscale than normal for down here. And very very clean. All staff was incredibly nice and spoke great english. We come twice a year and eat everywhere we can. We shared the embered fish OMG a seabass filet poached with garlic, butter and spices with an amazing slaw and white rice, we both agreed that traditional Spanish rice would have been wrong for this dish. This was more of a chef inspired meal than the traditional amazing Mexican food that we all enjoy down here. Please make the 5 minute walk and check it out! They are off the beaten by 1 block. Yes, you need to walk a bit to get here; but well worth it. We did a screen shot of the map here, and it helped us find it no problem. It sits by some beautiful homes tucked off the road, behind a dental clinic, in a nice courtyard. Only note that should be added, was that they only accept cash. Clean, new trendy feel, small outdoor area if weather is nice. drinks were fantastic- The Clam Chowder was the best our friends have had; and they are true foodies. (sweet finish to it). The Skirt Steak tacos had a nice flavor; and tons of meat on them. It did take a bit to get our food; but it was obviousely all very fresh and made to order. We enjoyed our drinks in the wait! The ceviche was delicious, and the fish tacos spot on. The only drawback was the 'animal channel' that was on the whole time with some pretty intense pics. We would have enjoyed some local photos or music instead. We found a new optical place (JC's) on our way here- so that was a nice bonus also! read more
