We had Water damage from a flood. Very good experience overall. The owner and crew foreman were very professional, knowledgeable, and punctual in responding to our requests. They quickly identified the source of the problem, developed a removal and remediation plan and conducted the work according to the schedule and budget that was originally bid. We did receive lower bids for the work, but I didn't ask for a reduced bid or try to negotiate the price, given the responsiveness of Mold Masters. I believe the price charged was quite reasonable and fair, and the quality of the work was outstanding. If we ever have mold problems in the future we will definitely call Mold Masters first! read more

I contacted Mold Masters because we suspected mold was growing in our home because of a suspicious odor. They conducted a visual physical inspection of my home for mold, took several air and wall samples, provided a written report and summary with detailed lab results within 48 hours. They also offered a 30-minute phone consultation to answer my questions about the reports, and provided recommendations for mold remediation.    I felt so grateful and lucky that one of their inspectors, Joe, came out to my home so quickly to test for mold.  It helped that Joe used to be a house inspector too, so he was able to offer a wonderfully detailed, thorough and integrative perspective not only on whether or not mold might be present, but what else might be causing the suspicious smell in the bathroom.   It was good that they never make a call based on the lab results alone and they always combine the lab results with the visual inspection.  This is because mold counts can vary greatly day by day and because mold needs certain conditions to live.  Joe spent several hours in my home, and eventually took one air sample outside to establish a baseline, and then recommended that I take three air samples inside, which I signed off on.  He also took a sample of a wall cavity.  I was very happy that Joe was so receptive to answering my questions through the process, and as I walked around my home with him, I felt I could understand more of what was going on behind the walls. The lab results came back 48 hours later.  When I called the office to ask about the reports, it seemed like Austin, the senior manager, had really taken the time to read through and understand the reports, and was able to give me some good insights and answer all my questions about the implications of the report.  Even though unfortunately mold was present, Austin told me on the telephone that the number of spores found was quite low and not to be alarmed.  It was helpful to get human insight to interpret the lab reports. Finding mold in your home is an emotional process, so I was happy that Joe and Austin were able to put my mind at ease by being so thorough and professional.  We are also going to use them to conduct the post remediation test so that we can be sure that the mold remediation company cleaned up all the mold, so I am keeping my fingers crossed. I am not surprised this company came so highly recommended. read more

This contractor is nothing but an unprofessional nickel and dime ripoff. My insurance company selected them, over my written objections, to do mold remediation for a small entrance way closet and for exploratory cutout work to determine mold intrusion in my master bedroom and living room. For the entry way closet, they sent two workers, only one of which did any work. One worker ripped out the drywall and remediated the mold; the other worker just handed items to him. For the living room and master bedroom exploratory cutouts, one worker held a ladder while the other worker cut out sections from the ceiling with a hand saw. Of the seven total cutouts, they took only two from areas that were clearly affected by water stains. The other five cutouts were taken from non-stained areas, seemingly taken at random. Simply unprofessional, in my opinion. They failed, in every way, to communicate the work process. Furthermore, because only one person did any effective work, their contract with the insurance company was excessively expensive, cutting needlessly deep into my mold allowance with same. The only technical, expertise- requiring work was done in the closet remediation. However, for follow-up work that was still needed, this firm wanted to charge $75 per hour, for a minimum of three workers, for a minimum of four hours, for a total of $1,800 Per day. That, for doing almost nothing requiring any expertise whatsoever. This firm uses a white, unmarked van, did not require workers to use gloves or masks or other protective clothing when doing cutouts with a hand saw, and, apparently, gave them little professional training in selecting appropriate areas for exploration. Finally, even though this firm knew, all along, of my need for immediate follow-on service, they failed to provide that. I would NOT use this firm again. read more

Austin and Angel was great to work with! Originally got an estimate from Austin by sending him pictures of the damaged area. When we were ready to start remediation, we were visited by Angel the same day for testing and started remediation the next day. The work consisted of 2 days of demolition and remediation of the damaged areas in preparation for a contractor to come in and renovate the area, followed by 2 more days of air purification. Angel was great to work with and kept us informed of the status and progress of the work. I would recommend Mold Masters for their prompt response and professionalism. read more

I called Mold Masters in a fairly urgent situation where I needed to resolve a mold issue very quickly while my home was in escrow. Austin gave me a full breakdown of pricing and timing over the phone and was able to get his team to my place the very next morning. Their team arrived promptly in the morning and were very friendly. Oscar oversaw the work itself which was done very efficiently, setting up containment in my kitchen and removing the affected area. They finished their work in less time than they originally projected. Oscar then remained in contact with me about handling their machines in preparation for the new mold test. Oscar came out the day after New Years to turn the machines off as required and then came again to remove the containment and machines the day after we passed our mold test. We had a great experience with Mold Masters and their inspector Joe. Joe came out to do a very thorough mold inspection on a house we are purchasing in Venice. He was amazing. He tested all the surfaces and walls, and even the floors for moisture, which took a very long time since it is a large house. He also inspected the detached garage in the drive way. After his inspection he sat down and talked through all his findings with us. The main house cleared the inspection, but the garage had some moisture readings that were concerning. He advised us to take a few samples from the wall cavity in the garage, and we agreed--and boy, am I glad we did! The labs came back with high levels of toxic mold. The garage is refinished and we were planning on using it as a play room for our daughter. His report was excellent and he spent an hour on the phone with me answering all my questions and concerns. He gave us a list of reputable waterproofing companies, and has since taken all my calls with further questions I have. If you are looking to get your house inspected, look no further. These are the folks you want. It can be a bit pricey to actually test wall cavities, so I appreciated that he only advised us to do so where it was absolutely necessary. The shower valve in my bathroom leaked and caused water damage and mold. Austin had Angel and another guy handle the remediation with great care. The area gets sealed off with plastic and all bad materials are bagged and removed to eliminate spread of mold or dust. I was so impressed with their work, I had Austin use his other guys Manny and Jame do the rebuild of all the damaged bathroom areas. We found out we had mold in two rooms because our upstairs toilet had been leaking and we didn't know. My husband got a quote from Mold Masters and it was all very straightforward but we couldn't do the work right away. When we re-contacted them quite a while later, their price had barely changed and they were ready to go without any hassle. I especially appreciated that when we called one other company and it was a hassle from the first moment, so we went with Mold Masters. I am a real estate investor from Detroit several properties in the southern California area. So when I need work done on my properties, it's very difficult to hire trustworthy contractors that can work unsupervised. So when we had a mold complaint in one of our properties, we searched Yelp and decided on Mold Masters based on their other great reviews. We are sure glad we did. They showed up on time and performed a mold inspection and water damage assessment. It turned out that mold removal was what was needed so we hired them with our fingers crossed. They were very accommodating and were able to work seamlessly with us and our tenants to solve our issues even though I am thousands of miles away. The job was done quickly and left no mess. They were careful not cause any damage, which was a big plus. The technicians were well informed and very helpful in suggesting options to insure this doesn't happen again. Mold sucks!. Based on my experience with this company, I will certainly be using them for future work. They were professional, efficient and pleasant. You couldn't ask for a better experience or nicer folks. One more thing: Their foreman just happened to notice that our air conditioner didn't sound quite right and recommended I get it looked at to prevent a more costly problem. There was water damage at the baseboard and carpet with unknown source. We had 3 people come out to see where it was leaking to no avail. Finally we called Joe Zeni at Mold Masters. He came out the same day with an infrared camera and found the leak right away. They started repair the next morning. Their crew was fantastic! They were prompt, very protective about our floors, quickly cleaned up everyday (5 days). You can't even tell there was a mold problem. Very high workmanship. While I ultimately ended up using another company, Austin and his team were outstanding professionals: prompt, clear, and eager to help. They are up front about their costs, which include a $250 for the inspection and estimate that is refunded if you go with them. You should know that there are other companies that do not charge for the initial estimate and assessment. I relied solely on outstanding reviews here and did not call multiple companies because I felt time was of the essence in an emergency. If I had, I would've known to ask Austin how they differ and offer value for that charge and wouldn't have later felt like it was a technique for increasing the likelihood I'd go with them. When I expressed my dissatisfaction with what I'd received for the fee, Austin kindly offered a full refund. Learned my lesson to call lots of places, even if it's an emergency, as paying a large fee makes it harder not to go with them/feel locked in. Extremely unprofessional and not any courtesy given to me or my family when they had us waiting for two days for equipment pickup and they refused to answer the telephone on a Saturday. A one star review is the lowest review possible on this site but they really deserve no stars. After speaking to someone on the phone who represented himself as the owner he was completely unapologetic for the errors in communication his employees made and offered no real solutions for the issues at hand. An owner who does not address issues of empty promises and missed appointments is definitely not a owner of a professional business entity. Please look for another company that can deliver excellent service instead of one that refuses to answer phone calls on the weekend and messages on the weekend hours. They claim to be 24 hour emergency response company but their service falls short after 5pm on Fridays. Don't waste your time money with empty promises. read more
