We try to catch a few games a year as it is a fun atmosphere to watch a baseball game while enjoying hot dogs and cold beer. It's especially fun when they have their buck nights where they offer dollar hot dogs and dollar draft beer. The staff does a great job of keeping the fans engaged especially the young kids in attendance. They hold special events outside of baseball throughout most of the year as well. Its close to restaurants and sits behind the Eastwood Mall complex. Great place to go to have a fun evening out.

The culmination of one man's efforts to preserve the quickly disappearing industrial history of the Mahoning Valley region, it is an amazing what can been done with dedication to mission and perseverance. This is no unfeeling static display with labels, it's a living, breathing reminder of the importance that steel once had in this region and our country. This means it can be a gritty, occasionally dirty place....but that doesn't mean it still can't teach folks of all ages amazing lessons. Unlike other steam locomotive experiences, this is steam in a small package, and #58's smaller size and simple construction makes it a particularly good for those who home school, as children can see all its working parts at their level, learning science, history and the importance of hard work in one package. In short, check it out. You won't be disappointed!

I am a self-proclaimed presidential history nerd visiting from Texas. I've read a biography on…read moreevery president in order through Truman, and my bucket list includes visiting where each was born and their final resting places. Of course, I also make it a point to visit presidential libraries, national historic sites, etc. I've visited dozens of locations across multiple states. The National McKinley Birthplace Memorial Museum was one of the most heartwarming places I've visited. Belinda, the Museum Director, is such a gem! A few months ago as I planned my trip, I emailed the museum and she responded. It was nice to put a face to an email. Belinda and I held a wide ranging conversation. I was interested in the building's history as much as in the museum...as I wondered how people used the building before she made it what it is today (she took over in 2022). She's done a helluva job. The museum is FULL of unique artifacts, including McKinley's actual sword used in the civil war. Display cases upstairs walk through every chapter of McKinley's life. You'll see a bunch of other neat memorabilia and artifacts like an official presidential banner, the key to McK's birth home, and tons of items bearing his signature. You also see: slippers hand crocheted by Ida McKinley, a piano belonging to McK's mother, and the desk used by McK when he practiced law. Probably the thing that gave me goosebumps, however, was when Belinda told me they have the actual flag which covered his coffin. It's in storage now, but hopefully on display soon. She's also hoping for a donation of furniture that was actually in the McKinley home. My conversation with Belinda almost brought me to tears. Hearing the way she's worked to make this museum what it is today.... Every time I visit a presidential history site... I am overwhelmed with gratitude for people like Belinda and others who had the foresight to preserve and maintain our history. This museum has the potential to really be something, and I'm so glad I visited!

My Great Great Grandfather built a scale model of McKinley's funeral train. I had always wanted to…read moretake my family to go see it. Living in Georgia now, it's not quite that easy. Last summer we planned a trip making this one of our priority stops. We checked the schedule to make sure we'd make it on time. Driving in from Niagara Falls in a terrible thunderstorm, we pulled in about 10-15 minutes before the final self guided tour time. Walk to the entrance and it's closed. We knock, try to call, etc. Walk over to the library on the other side of the courtyard. The librarian was very helpful trying to get a hold of the curator. I go out, walk around the building to the back, and knock on the door. The curator answers. I say we're here to see the train, that it's part of my family history and I'd like to show my kids. She says "no". I ask if we can, just for a moment. She again says "no" and that we should come back tomorrow. I told her that we were travelling through and wouldn't be in the area tomorrow. She just refused. Remember, this happened when the museum was supposed to be open. I feel sick that part of my family heritage is under the care of this person.

The 18-hole course is lined with old trees and has rolling hills and a creek that meanders through the fairways. The greens, fairway and rough were cut nicely with sand bunkers scattered around, and were fun to play. The course holes are different from every angle, so every time playing is like playing on a different course. Inside the Tudor is a grille and bar. There is a patio. We had a late lunch after playing 18 holes. We had the chopped salad and beet salad, the stuffed peppers and the open-faced steak sandwich. All were very tasty. There is a large formal dining room that has a high ceiling with medieval looking chandeliers and a large fireplace. A sunroom makes a wonderful gathering place for weddings, retirements and other special functions. All of these rooms face the golf course. Other amenities are the swimming pool, tennis courts, and skeet and trap areas. This venue is special. Membership is reasonable.
