Good to check out after visiting the museum to see any interesting gifts, home goods, and other items for purchase. Priced on the slightly higher side but good to window browse as well. Shop gets pretty busy inside, staff are around to help.

I've been a fan of the MoMA Design Store for a while, but a week or so ago when I had just finished a meal at The Modern, I popped across the street to do some shopping at the MoMA Design Store. I hadn't been in person before (I have done some online shopping), and it's such a fun store to browse: art, tchotchkes, technology that looks cool, home goods, kitchen goods... I found a souvenir for myself and a gift for a friend whose birthday is coming up. The staff were really friendly, and they offer items at varying price points (don't avoid stopping in because you think it's an expensive store). Overall, it's just a really fun place to shop - lots of surprising, fun, gorgeous items to choose from!

Lots of great things that you don't need but would make great gifts and souvenirs. I didn't get anything this visit, but I did get items from the museum store across the street, many of them are the same inventory like the games, tote bags, t-shirts and umbrellas. This store has more things for the home.

I have to admit... sometimes I may enjoy the design store / gift shop more than the museum itself...lol - my excuse is that gift shop is like the condensed version of exhibitions (like the SparkNotes) and a lot times with even more creative / innovative spins on those pieces. This design store has a lot of interesting and cool items. Great place to shop for gifts (and in my case, a lot times it ends up being shopping for myself lol). A lot of home goods as well.

This is a silk scarf but the colors are so much nicer than the poster I thought. I had it framed and it came out beautifully.

I have been a MOMA member for 10 yrs. Just received my renewal to my surprise for $110. I paid $85 last yr. Apparently the Global membership is no longer being offered. I will not be renewing the membership. What a shame they are willing to overlook the past Global members who basically do not live close by or in another state entirely. The rep. I spoke to said there was a substantial number of Global members who are affected. Since I live 3,000 miles away; I purchased the membership solely for the MOMA store. Will miss this for xmas gifts. Really a shame.

My best description of this store is a combination of Sharper Image, Brookstone, and an Art Museum Gift Shop. I rarely buy anything in these gift shops. One reason is I don't need more stuff. The other is that it's expensive. I typically tell myself it's a good cause. I rationalize I'm getting something for a donation. If you're going to MoMa anyway you may as well stop in at the store. It's fun to look even if you don't find anything you want or need. It's all about unusual gift ideas this time of year!

But as good as their store across the street. This is much smaller. Staff wasn't that friendly.

Best way to describe the MoMa store is that its somewhere between a toy, gadget and creative art fun store for adults, kids and adults that still have a kid somewhere inside. The store offers something of a intersection between functionality and art design. You need a neat gift or want some cool looking like item like lighting, furniture, or something fun for the kitchen you can find it here. Plus other stores don't have some of the items here because MoMa has a reproduction license from the artist after displaying their art at the museum so many are only available from MoMa. The sore is not very big and would take 5, or 10 minutes to check it all out. If you not in the area they sell many of the same items online. And if you know someone that works at MoMa they can get the item at a discount for you.

A book light that opens and closes. Want!

Great store for unique gifts in Soho. You will find something for everyone creative in your life and many things for yourself. Do not miss it.

I love Muji. I am not much of a shopper. But if I walk by a Muji and I have a moment, I will stop…read morein. I try to resist impulse buys. I am confident, however, I will find something that appeals to my frugality. I do not know if Muji invented the concept of a brand that is not a brand, in the sense of not advertising itself, which ironically achieves its own iconic minimalist status. They have perfected it though. Last time, I got their 90 degree socks. I actually have concluded it is not a gimmick. I have some socks that slip off, at the heel, in particular if I wear them with runnig shoes. These do not. Everything I have acquired from Muji has gone into my regular rotation. The design is good, the quality is there, and the prices are not outrageous. So I commend Muji to you if you have a similar sense of not wanting to want, but being willing to browse. I'm confident you will find something on every visit.

If I could rate Muji's customer service separately from its products, it would be one star…read more The problem isn't that mistakes happen--it's how Muji handles them. My order arrived with missing items despite paying oversized shipping and waiting days for delivery. Since then, I've been stuck in an endless cycle of apologies with almost no action. After nearly a week of emailing back and forth, I was asked to provide my order details again. Why? The entire email trail already contains everything they need. Instead of reviewing the case history, each representative seems to start from scratch, wasting the customer's time because they can't be bothered to read their own correspondence. Muji has mastered the art of apologizing without actually resolving anything. Every response is filled with sympathy and promises to "look into it," yet there is no urgency whatsoever to fix a mistake that was entirely their responsibility. Once they have your money, you're left waiting while your case sits in limbo. For a company that promotes quality and simplicity, their customer service is anything but. Poor communication, zero ownership, endless delays, and customers forced to repeatedly chase for updates. Paying extra for oversized shipping clearly doesn't translate to better service when something goes wrong. If you're lucky enough to receive your order intact, you'll probably have a good experience. But if there's a problem, don't expect Muji to treat it like a priority. Based on my experience, their customer service is all apologies and no accountability.
