Absolutely fresh, authentic, delicious food! A great selection of Mexican (and Peruvian) dishes and every mouthful was better than the last. We loved the jibaritos, flautas, soups, and the purple Peruvian drink was soooo good. Such a huge difference from the typical greasy Tex-Mex restaurants where everything tastes the same. Talk about a pleasant discovery! True, authentic Mexican food, with vegetarian and gluten-free options, in Gurnee. Who knew? I had the Veracruz Tilapia, which was VERY good. My friend ordered half the menu (joking, a little) and was very pleased with her meal too. The restaurant is not huge but well appointed and kept spotless, and the staff was very nice. My wife and I stopped at Momcorn's today after reading the reviews and because my wife enjoys more options in ordering as she is a vegetarian. We were both very pleased. The place is somewhat small but very clean and bright. The people that work there are so very friendly and service was great. The food was very fresh and tasty and there was not a thing about anything we ordered that could have been made better. Both of our meals were perfect. The food is great don't get me wrong but the costumer service is terrible. Maybe not all the waiters are terrible but one particularly the short Mexican lady is terribly rude. My wife and I were excited to find out there was another "non-chain" dining option here in Gurnee. Our 1st experience at Momcorn was awesome!! Delicious freshly made chips to start off. Pozole to start was also good, followed by a burrito. The food is freshly made, tasty, and enough without being too much. I been coming to momcorn for awhile in the begining the food was good and tasteful but recently the food isnt up to momcorn standard. Average at best. But what really makes me not want to come anymore is the service here is AWFUL when i say awful i mean AAWWFFUULLLLL!!!!! The cant get the what i ordered right, for example i asked the young waitress for 2 tocos and a side of rice forgot the rice had to ask the other staff member then i had to ask for a glass of water the waitress forgot to get me the water as soon asked she went to clean the tables AS SOON AS I ASKED HER, what is going on. Good food but never dining in or possibly not going anymore not worth it when u get ignored thats just rude. If this was the first time i would understand but i was there a week ago with a buddy same bad service. Sucks because i thought they had great potential of being a good restaurant. Wow. Saw the yelp reviews and we figured we would give it a try. Walking up, I thought, "Oh, nothing special, same old same old, regular Mexican restaurant." WRONG! Absolutely LOVED this place! Fresh food, lots of flavors, reasonably priced. Simple, flavorful, excellent food. friendly service. We met one of the owners as she stopped by our table to make sure everything was OK. A former educator along with her friend a restaurateur opened Momcorn. Michael, our waiter was very friendly and attentive. The food is just top notch. We ordered the "corn in a bowl' (to die for!) a cup of Posole, My wife got the Fajita's and I the fish tacos. The posole had great flavor, chunks of pork. The fish tacos were scrumptious. Nice, lightly breaded pieces of fish, good flavor, not "fish sticks" a very tasty mango salsa with a touch of heat. very tasty and nicely filling. portions are nicely sized, not too big, just right. You will go away satisfied and not stuffed. The rice had nice flavor and not just salt. the refried beans were actually "refried beans" and not just a mush of canned beans. I went there today with my daughter. This place is like 3 doors down from my church and we were hungry and the sushi spot was closed. We decided to try it and I am so glad we did. I ordered Puerto Rican style empanadas and a Puerto Rican jibarito sandwich and it was pretty tasty. For those of you who are unaware a jibarito is a sandwich consisting of smashed green plantains on the exterior and filled with meat (your choice) garlic sauce, grilled onions, avocado/lettuce/tomatoes. It was yummy. My daughter really liked her chicken tacos with guacamole. The empanadas are a bit pricey ($3.50 ea, wow) but Kathy (owner?) says she makes the pastry by hand so I was pretty impressed. We sampled the Peruvian chicha mirada which was ok and the Mexican style horchata. I am still searching for Central American Horchata made with ajonjoli but that's not their fault LOL. All in all I will be back with my buddies to get our fix on some Puerto Rican food even if the menu is limited and mostly has Mexican offerings. It is nice to see a restaurant trying to expand their menu by offering some food from other Latin countries. Yay, someone finally gets it LOL. read more

My husband,son and I have eaten at Momcorn twice and brought it home for lunch and I must say, it is by far the best Latin American food I have ever eaten in Illinois! I love the pork tamales. I order them whenever I go here. The pork filling is delightful and I love the masa. I also love the tacos and the street corn. What a treat. Everything is so fresh and flavorful! I have met both business partners who are very nice and really care about their business and how much they want to please their customers and especially how they so very much want to share Latin American food with all of us who eat there. What a wonderful,memorable dining experience it is. And the owners go out of their way to make corn the star of the show. Who would of ever thought of using corn to make pudding? I also have never experienced street corn and it was amazing! What a gem of a place. I will be back plenty of times to experience some of the most amazing Latin American food I have ever tasted!!!! read more
