Stopped by for lunch with a couple co-workers. They don't list any items on their menu as gluten free but the reviews indicated the restaurant was safe for celiacs. I let the server know I was celiac/gluten free. She confirmed the chips were corn and GF. The salsa was really good. Had an amazing dinner last night at Dos Amigos. My wife ordered Sergio's enchiladas and I ordered the chicken mole. We both loved our meals. I couldn't get enough of their mole sauce. There was definitely enough on the plate but I could have kept going even if they brought me a soup bowl full of it. The mole was a daily special. I hope they add it to their menu permanently. I had 4 tacos, soft corn tortillas. Two ground beef, two chicken barbacoa. After reflecting on the lunch, if I were to go back, I would go something different than ground beef. It was good, nothing super special. The chicken barbacoa was a unique flavor that I really enjoyed. It was similar flavor to the 'tinga' flavor I have had at other Mexican restaurants. The sides were quality sides. I love spanish rice, so that is my favorite of the two given here. Upon entering we were greeted and told we could sit on either side of the restaurant. Our waitress came by, gave us the menus and a couple minutes to decide. She was very nice. Once we were seated, more people began coming in and she wasn't around as often when we were one of three parties. Everyone else was all conversing and gave a good time. The table next to us, a little boy was nice enough to let me know, the salsa is pretty hot!! Overall, a very filling meal. The leftovers were great. I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The staff made us feel like customers are not valued at all. An older gentleman was extremely rude to my daughter while she was simply trying to complete her transaction. After giving her attitude, he went as far as telling her to "get the f*** out." There is absolutely no reason for anyone to be spoken to that way, especially a paying customer. Respect and basic customer service should be expected at any establishment. For a Mexican restaurant in Libertyville it's pretty okay, but it's nothing special to be honest. It has great drinks but they're small, and the food is good but it costs too much. Dos Amigos has what you are to expect. Margaritas and other things to get drunk on. The food includes of course burritos and tacos. A bad thing is the charges. It's among the few Mexican restaurants that don't have free chips and salsa. They actually charge $2 for these! As for the rest, it's not bad. Margaritas are the best drinks here. It's $10 for the house flavor. These were good but these were in small glasses. It wasn't enough for the cost. The food was the main thing though. After looking at a the options, we each got the Taco Plate. It's about $15 to get several tacos along with beans and rice. Choose filling. We got it with the fajita vegetables. All tacos come with cilantro, lettuce, and onions. The tacos were pretty small, but they were also stuffed. Good spice even without putting salsa on it. The rest of the menu has burritos, fajitas, and more. Good Mexican as far as for around here. It has plenty of indoor seating, with a dining area good for families and larger groups, and an area by the bar good for watching things on TV. There's lots of traditional and Americanized options for meat eaters and vegetarians. read more
