I've been a loyal customer of Momentum for years, but unfortunately, I must revise my 5-star review to a 1-star review due to questionable and unnecessary practices involving Freon charges. On one of my properties in St. Pete, the technician took pressure readings on a unit that was frozen--due to the tenants running it at 67 degrees in June. Later that day, the technician returned and "charged" the unit with Freon. However, during a follow-up inspection nearly two months later by a different technician, no leaks were found in the line set or coils, and the pressure readings were still normal. This was particularly troubling given that the unit, a Carrier system, was installed just 10 months prior with a full inspection. I initially chalked this incident up as an anomaly. But then it happened again. At another property in Tampa, I called for a simple condensate line flush, and once more, I was told the unit might "need" a Freon charge. This was absurd, as the unit had been functioning perfectly, holding temperature with no issues for months. When the rep called to discuss diagnostics, I made it explicitly clear that the conversation about Freon was premature and unnecessary. Yet, within minutes, they called back with a quote for a Freon charge. I agreed to discuss the matter, but at no point did I authorize the charge. Despite this, the company proceeded without my clear consent. Momentum was quick to provide recordings of subsequent calls to argue their case, yet suspiciously reluctant to share the initial call, where it was clear I did not approve any Freon charge. After years of entrusting Momentum with multiple properties, it's disheartening to see them resort to such deceptive practices. They are personable and persuasive over the phone, but it's clear they are taking advantage of their customers. I can no longer recommend Momentum, and I urge others to proceed with caution. ** UPDATE 3/24/2025** I strongly advise against doing business with Momentum. Recently, I discovered that they sent a fake invoice to a collections agency, which included duplicated charges that I never authorized. What makes this situation worse is that Momentum never contacted me directly about these additional charges, and instead, the next thing I knew, I was being contacted by a collections agency about an invoice that had already been paid. I have the original invoice that shows everything was paid in full, and yet this company still attempted to charge me again and escalate it to collections without any prior notice. I am now dealing with the repercussions of this error, and I have been forced to take legal action to resolve this situation. Momentum's lack of communication and disregard for accurate billing practices is unacceptable. I highly recommend that others avoid this company to prevent similar issues. read more

These guys are not very organized with their scheduling and communication. They require someone to be at the house which I get that but don't tell me first thing in the morning then no one shows or even contacts. Other people have to go work and have schedules. We are currently in the middle of a roofing project and they are the HVAC company Southern Roofing chose to handle our ac disconnect, mounting compressors on stands to comply with code and reconnect the units. The initial review we, the owners, were provided regarding the condition of our compressors was riddled with errors as to the age of our units, their condition and a bunch of other nonsense to try to get us to buy new units. The reconnections didn't go smoothly and techs were needed to be sent back out after hours to redo some wiring issues. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

My wife and I had Abel stop by and try to scare us into buying a new AC system quoting $11,000 to replace a 7 year old AC system that is still under manufacturers warranty. To help us he said he could put some freon in at $175 a lb. saying it may take 5 gallons, he wasn't sure until he got the go ahead, saying that may last only a few days. He charged us double the $69 service fee that my wife was quoted and I could not wait for him to leave our property, my spirit was sickened the more he spoke. Sincerely, I am a very dissatisfied customer and would like the additional $69 he charged us above the service charge quoted before scheduling a visit credit back to our account. PS. Another company came out and unclogged the line and charged $65 a lb. for 4 gallons and credited us the quoted service charge off of the price. About 2 weeks ago our Property Manager recommended Momentum Air to repair an AC problem at our Clearwater rental. We were charged $380 and today we learned, by another AC tech that the coolant leak was caused by a corroded filter drier. Momentum refused to acknowledge their mistake and said that it would be foolish to put on a new filter drier and that a new system was needed. The part cost of a filter drier is well under $100.00. Anyone hiring Momentum is doing so at their own risk. Their tech couldn't have possibly checked for leaks. They cleaned a drain line but did nothing to prevent very expensive R-22 from leaking out. read more

I was conflicted about whether or not to leave a review as the company worked hard to try and meet the need and I like the folks but the end results just fell a bit short for me. Work was done about a month ago. 1. This was the first replacement system for this unit and the ductwork and area surrounding the install was torn up and they recommended replacing the ducts (expensive and destructive) but had no included solution for the damage they caused where air handler connects. For the surrounding area, they did a partial fix which is fine but I will have to go over that a bit and sand it down then paint. 2. Unit stopped working a month or so after being installed so was in 90-degree heat for a few hours when I would have preferred to have been sleeping instead of fixing my own AC. Turns out drain lines were clogged and they did not install maintenance access in the drain lines so that is going to be a HUGE pain. I had just had the drain maintenanced so probably best practice to clear the line after doing an AC unit install. 3. They initially installed the unit with fan set to high to try and accommodate for the duct damage. I think if anything this made duct damage worse and was annoyingly loud. They did come back and fix this though so that is nice. 4. My house won't go below 72 when outside is around 90-95 even though I purchased an oversized unit. Hopefully, I will never have to be in my house on a 100 degree+ day. This could be because of the duct damage issue or maybe something else. 5. They are a bit pushy for reviews right at the getgo (I am guessing it is an incentive program thing where techs get bonus or performance based on reviews) but I only leave reviews for wowing or poor performance and I would never review something right after install. Seemed silly they would expect that but it explains the high number of reviews. read more

I called at four in the afternoon, and got an appointment for early the next morning when all the other places were booked for days. Work was completed quickly and the repairman showed up exactly when he said he would during his pre visit contact. I also researched prices for the motor that was replaced, and the price we paid was average to below average so that's always a plus as well to save some money read more

I had Jason from Momentum AC come to my house yesterday to do my AC tune up. Jason was very conscientious. Other then the cleaning that needed to be done he also found a couple of issues that needed to be addressed and fixed. I was very happy how well he handled my job. Jason went above and beyond fixing my AC, he also cleaned the area around the outside which is installed on my roof top on the third floor. He was on time, acted professionally, knowledgeable and most of all he was honest. Momentum continues to earn my business by having someone like Jason working there. Have had issues with other companies before but Danny has been an the best and most knowledgeable person I've ever encountered when needing assistance with my a/c unit. Had an installation done in September and Danny and Jason came today and figured out what was wrong and fixed all the faulty wiring that the previous company had done. 11/10 service and highly recommend you use them if you have any troubles with your air conditioner. read more

I was very disappointed by their customer service. They were belligerent and very unaccommodating. The AC unit and installation was rather expensive and it started breaking down only a few months after the purchase. It was very difficult to get a hold of momentum. After many calls and complaints, I was charged for repairs when the warranty did not expire. The repairs were inadequate and the unit broke down shortly afterwards. When I pay a few grand for any service, I expect the job to be handled with competence and integrity. Needlessly to say, that does not describe my experience at all. read more

They were able to correctly diagnose the problem from the beginning and quoted me a lot less than the other companies in the area. The technician was very friendly and didn't leave until he knew the problem had been corrected. I'm glad I now have a solid AC company to resolve any issues I have in the future. We own a local business in south Tampa, but it was our 13 year old home where we were having some issues. We reached out to Momentum AC and they sent a tech out named Abel to diagnose. Abel took a lot of photos of all our equipment, in & out, even the breaker panel in our garage! Impressive, besides being a very nice man. We have 2 dogs who are not very used to company and he was even very kind treated them respectfully! He showed us that we were losing refrigerant with a slow leak and the coils to our system were totally rusted all over. Time for a new unit. He said they would call us with an Exact Quote, and if we chose them to do the install, they would Deduct what we spent to diagnose & to add refrigerant, from the Installation price of a new unit!. Today, 3 weeks later, 2 other Techs came out and amazingly, they were done just shy of 4 hours! Now that was fast as we were under impression it would take all day! The Techs cleaned up after themselves and didn't even require us to pay before they left! Lola in the office we have spoken to throughout this process, who is extremely polite. i called them after read a lot of good review here about Momentum AC company . the lady picked up the phone and give me the special coupon for $85 to clean up the a/c duct ( up to 10 vents ) and they come to my house the day after ( real quick ) BUT after they took a look at the vents they told me i have to pay $150 because i have 1 air return duct that i can not use for the coupon for $85 . i asked them why do i have to pay $65 more for an air duct return . they call the office and say something to the lady on the phone before they gave me their phone to talk to the lady . the lady at the office told me the reason i have to pay $65 more because i have 10 vents and 1 air return vent so total is 11 vents . i told her i have only 8 vents and 1 air return = 9 vents totally then she say with 1 air return i have to pay $65 LOL . i say i will not take it and let them go . Becareful when you wprk with them because i feel like they just want to get more your money read more

Although the owner of this company seems to care about his rating, not enough to take responsibility for a employees mistake. We had them come out and do a maintenance on our system at the end of June 2017. We even had them do an extra job and clean for mold. The employee left and it seemed to work fine. About 3 1/2 weeks later there is a leak from the second floor to my first floor through an electric fixture. Now my ceiling and fixture are in need of repair and I figure out where the leak is coming from. The AC unit is directly above it. We call them since they were the last people here. (Unit is a little over 2yrs old). They said they could come out, for which we were grateful since we had to turn off our air which was working just flooding. We called around 7pm he got here by 10pm. We felt bad for the guy since it was so late. He finished around 12pm. What he said was it wasn't cleaned properly the first time, but also about a flick switch that was disconnected and wasn't able to automatically shut off the system so it won't over flow. I say it was working fine before his guy was here. He said its not his fault and charged me $125 for a new one and the problem will keep happening if I don't replace it. I don't think I should have been charged. Under 30 days, it wasn't done properly the first time and was mysteriously disconnected. If he would have not charged me I would have given him 5 stars and knew that he took care of his customers and used him again. NOT ONLY THAT! But they needed to come back out the next day and fix a mix up of wiring the employee did that previous night because the system still wasn't working. Incredible! Momentum sent two technicians on two different occasions who were unable to completely resolve the issue. Both technicians were professional and seemed to know what they were doing. We continued to experience the same problem with the AC unit. However, when I called and spoke with the office manager and asked that they send someone out a third time she became very upset for some reason. She was very rude so I told her I would not be using their services in the future especially because we continued to have the same problem we originally called about. About 20 minutes later I received a call from a man with their company who said he was calling to inquire regarding my service issue. Before I could finish explaining the issue to him, he cut me off and began saying it was because I hadn't purchased an additional unit cleaning service for $250. Neither technician had indicated that the additional cleaning service was needed for the unit to be fully functioning. One even stated it would be a good idea but we could wait a few months. I would not recommend this company. They took $125, did not fix the problem, and were rude at the end of it all. read more
