He had identified a number of possible issues - clogging of drain line, leaking and insufficient refrigerant. The estimates of all these will amount to a big sum. After some explanations on the issues, I've decided to spread out the fixings so as to spread out the spending. David was on time, patient and willing to explain the procedures. I was sold a brand-new 2-stage HVAC system two years ago. It took the company NINE MONTHS to get Pinellas County to inspect their work. Even then, it took three separate inspections before the system passed because Hot2Cold failed to fill out the paperwork correctly and failed to do the job correctly. Now, it's two years later, and the system is not working. I called for a service call but was told that it would be over $250 because it was a weekend. I was sold a 10-year warranty for parts and labor, but now they tell me I must wait until Monday or pay a $250 fee because it's the weekend. I contacted the sales representative who sold us the system (James Thornsberry), but he had moved to Birmingham, AL. I am still waiting for a representative to contact me about getting the HVAC system serviced. The forecast is in the upper 90s today, and it's too hot in the house. We recently moved my mother-in-law into the house with us to care for her, and this heat could present medical issues with her. I am embarrassed that I was conned by Hot2Cold. I had them install and new unit in my house and afterwards, they needed to come out multiple times for new parts which seems strange for a new system. After once again the A/C failing, they came out claiming nothing was broken in the unit and leaving (when the unit would not turn on and the house was reading over 80). This then cause the unit to freeze causing water damage in the house and needing to replace the brand new motor. Will never use them again. read more

So Geraldo came out the next day to take a look walked out checked the system and everything inside as well luckily it turned out to be our nest was not working after 5 years so we ended up getting a new one. 2019 Repair: my A/C stopped running. At that time, James came out and assessed the situation. He was very PROFESSIONAL, KNOWLEDGABLE, and gave us all the options including quick fix or entire replacement of the HVAC. NO PRESSURE from him one way or the other. We chose the quick fix and he said likely it would only last us 1 more year. Fast-forward 2 years and it's still running. 2021 Reaching out: Figured it was a good time to replace the whole unit and so we went for it. Called H2C and they had our profile saved and pictures of our inside/outside unit in their file from the prior repair so they were able to give us a quote over the phone. James again reached out in a timely fashion and answered all my HVAC questions with awesome detail regarding brands, SEER ratings, etc. 2021 Day of installation: Joel, Anthony, and Corey were the technicians. PUNCTUAL, PROFESSIONAL, PERSONABLE, and DETAILED. They wore masks while inside my house, answered all my annoying questions during the installation, made sure I understood everything they did, and cleaned up the mess including sweeping and vacuuming. On top of that, they even fixed a problem I didn't know I had with my air vent at no extra charge. Will only use them here in Tampa. Amazing and honest experience from start to finish. read more

Many companies see customers as just a drop in the bucket, the few that take an opposite approach tend to last longer and earn new business. Hot 2 Cold appears to be more of the latter. I was having issues with my a/c the past few days, somehow my appointment fell through the cracks at H2C and I that forced me to go another day with no a/c, the fact that this all happened during the peak of the summer season was like pouring salt on a wound. H2C reached out to correct the mistake and make things right. My agent (Heath) stopped in the next day and took care of my issue. He was professional, understanding, and went the extra mile to ensure I was satisfied with the work completed. His main concern was ensuring that I was satisfied with the work performed. My a/c is running smoothly now thanks to H2C. I will always give credit where credit is due. H2C recognized the mistake and more than made up for it. I couldn't be happier. Update April 7, 2023. I found another hvac contractor to replace the TXV for $414, saving almost 60% over the price quoted by HOT2COLD. The bad news is when they removed the TXV installed by HOT2COLD as part of a new system, I disassembled the failed TXV, and it contained a gummy and black oily substance which seemed to clog the TXV valve. I googled this, and it is a fatal contaminant known as "Black Death" in the HVAC industry. This occurs if the refrigerant lines are not properly cleaned and flushed when a new system is installed. Note that no company other than HOT2COLD ac had worked on this system prior. So apparently when HOT2COLD ac installed my new $9000 system, the line was not flushed, even after my original (20 year old Trane compressor) had failed catastrophically. Bottom line is contamination remained in the lines, and the new system from HOT2COLD ac is severely compromised, and will likely fail within just a few years. This is confirmed because with the brand new TXV installed two weeks ago, several measurements show that my output vent temperatures have already moved up almost 10%, from 56 degrees to 61 degrees with lower outside temperatures. read more

While I have only positive things to say about the staff (for the most part), the equipment they installed is absolutely terrible. We have have used Hot2Cold to replace the original duct work, air handler, and compressor in our home. I prior system was 26 years old. We spared no expense since I work from home and I did not want to be sitting in June without A/C. Guess what? Last June and now this June, I am sitting without A/C". Last year it was the electric to the compressor, and this year it is the electric for the air handler. It appears the boards in each piece of equipment went "bad". The equipment we had installed was the top of the line that Hot2Cold carries and it is around two years old. I am now sitting in a home that is 86 degrees (evening) and just learned that a heat wave is scheduled for tomorrow in Tampa. I cannot leave my home during the week (which I have been extremely clear about from the beginning), since I use special equipment for my job that is located at my house. The repair tech just leaned in the door and shouted that someone would call me tomorrow. The man could not even walk into the house because he knew I was furious and did not want to hear it. I expressed my anger anyway and said that it would be more appropriate for someone to call me now - no one has called. He also left without providing me any documentation regarding the service call. I intend to post another review after we are done with this situation. I do hope that it is more positive. read more

My first interaction with this company was rocky. I wrote a review about my distasteful experience and was contacted by Janette within 5 minutes of posting. I have never been helped and had my issues solved with a company so fast in my life. Janette was kind and very professional. I found that the issues I had were with the call center they use and not the company itself. Within a few minutes, we had a schedule for the same day (about 4 hours later). She even gave me her personal extension in case I ran into any other problems. James was our technician, and he was a well-seasoned professional. We even had great conversations and you could tell that he was passionate about his job and actually cared. This call was being used as a second opinion because the first company was trying to sell me a whole new system for $12,000 without giving me a definitive answer about what was wrong. James took time to go over my entire system thoroughly, checked every vent, explained everything to me in clear language, and helped find a "band-aid" that could possibly last a couple of years. James answered all of my questions and briefly educated me on the HVAC system. He even followed up a couple of hours after he left to make sure the new fix was holding. With our financial situation the way it is right now, this was the best-case scenario. I will be using this company for all future A/C repairs and highly recommend them. If you want a company that isn't there to sell you a new system every time or try to squeeze money out of you, this is the company. EDIT: Hector, the service manager reached out to me after reading my review and made an attempt to make me a happy customer. He apologized for the issues that they had with their online system and offered to send someone out today. I had already found another company but I will say that my concerns were addressed and a solid effort was made. Original review 2/20/21: I went through the Yelp app. Filled out their questionnaire online and asked for someone to come repair my AC. I got offered the next day and picked a 2 hour window. Then I got a confirmation email (see picture). I missed that the confirmation email was virtual. I thought someone was coming next day. I gave ALL of the details on my request. There was no need to have a further conversation. Well, no one came and worse...no one even called during my confirmed time. I had to call them 30 minutes after the end of the promised time. It gets better....my first call put me on an auto hold for about 7 minutes then disconnected me. My second call connected me with someone who was totally unapologetic. Told me he could send someone out today but it was considered an emergency call and that would cost me $200 plus. I said what happened to my confirmation email. And that's when I went back to it and saw the key wording that it was an online visit. I own that I missed that but they didn't even honor their confirmation to call me. First let me say that things sometimes things don't go as planned but it is how one responds to it. This technician, went into the wrong suite, didn't call me and didn't bring an appropriate ladder. (Likely, he wasn't informed as I was leaving detailed messages with out of state answering services. I've called 5 times, and usually get an answering service. I am not sure if there is local office. I asked Jeanette for a manager for a solution, (Like return later) Wayne called me back said his technician would not show up without an appropriate ladder and then said to find another agency. When both my AC units went down I was in the verge of a panic attack because I have been burned my many contractors before. I frantically searched all over Yelp to help me not have to go to the ER and came across Hot 2 Cold. After I inquired through Yelp James contacted me and walked me through the process. James was very detail oriented and explained all the steps we were going to have to take. He answered all of my questions and eased my worrisome soul. I rarely give a negative view, but I rely on Yelp and want to share my experience. We have used Hot2Cold for almost 2 years and paid for a monthly service plan that was supposed to include emergency visits. In April I realized that it had been a while since our HVAC system was serviced. When I called I was told that we were due back in December but their system didn't flag us. They came for a service but did not bring the proper filter so this was a 2 visit. Earlier this week we had a house full of company and the AC stopped working overnight. I called at 6:30 AM and was told they were fully booked through the week but that someone would get back to me. NO ONE EVER DID. I called a new company that arrived within a few hours. They diagnosed the problem as a capacitor that was incorrectly re-installed when the service was done in April. They spent about 20 minutes fixing that issue, charged me all of $125, and explained why our electric bill spiked since April. I called Hot2Cold and canceled our maintenance plan. read more

Our A/C stopped working two Saturdays ago and the high of the day was going to be 96. To make matters worse, we had family and friends arriving later in the afternoon for a BBQ. After glancing at the top rated A/C repair companies on Yelp, my husband found Hot 2 Cold. Hot 2 Cold had several appointments scheduled that morning, but they said they could be at our house around noon. As promised, Hot 2 Cold arrived around 12:30pm. The repairman, John Campbell, was fantastic. Initially, John thought the issue was our A/C's transformer and unfortunately he did not have the part with him so he called his colleagues in the area to see if we could get the part brought to our house. After further inspection John found out the issue was actually our float switch. By 2pm we had cold air blasting through our house again! John could have charged us an arm and a leg for his Saturday visit, but he kept the price as fair as possible and we now know to add bleach to our A/C to avoid this repair again. The first four companies she called told her that she needed a new system, but gave conflicting reasons. I looked them all up on Yelp and none were well reviewed. So I gave her a few good options and implored her to get additional estimates. She had Hot 2 Cold come out and they were the only company that told her that her system could be repaired. She scheduled the service and said that the service technician was incredibly clean and professional. Within a few hours, they had the system up and running again. In their initial consult, they said that this system, once repaired, could last another 2-5 years. If that holds true, then they really did save her a significant amount of money. Great experience and definitely a company I would recommend to friends and family. Called late Sunday afternoon and had a tech at my door by 9am the following day. Everyone from the young lady setting the appointment to the technician Jason who arrived on time were super friendly and had great customer service which is a lost art these days. Jason diagnosed the issue quickly and fixed it at a cost under $170. Though Jason made some additional recommendation of items to enhance system performance there was no pressure sales. I was given a two hour window that was reasonable and met my needs. Soon before the appointment window I was notified that Jason would be the technician dispatched and he arrived within 3 minutes of the scheduled start time! Jason was VERY knowledgeable, professional and quickly determined a wiring problem from prior maintenance another company had performed was the cause of the issue. We hired Hot 2 Cold to redesign all of our duct work, add 4 returns, add Hepa filter to air handler and replace air handler platform. Job called for 3 full days of work. When my husband arrived home the first day of work, he went out and looked at what they did and noticed that they did not replace air handler platform they just added the Hepa filter and put everything back. We mentioned this to the lead installer the following day and he said there wasn't anything wrong with the platform that the leaks were coming from the duct work in the attic. We told him we wanted it replaced as it stated in our contract. Instead, they just painted the platform with mastic. We also noticed an area in our grass where it looked like a grill had been spray painted it turned out to be a grill in our living room that was not a standard size so they just spray painted it and tried to pass it off as new. After seeing this along with the supply plenum and mixing boxes also being reused we contacted James. He said he talked to the owner and they would contact the crew to make sure they replace the platform, mixing boxes, supply plenum and the grill in the living room. As you can imagine we were not feeling good about our decision to hire Hot 2 Cold. So we decided to tell them we want to take pictures once they pull the air handler back out and before they put it back in. That is when we realized why Jeremy didn't want to pull the unit back out, not only did they not replace the platform, they did not seal the return plenum as he stated he did the day prior. On what should have been the last day of the job they still had to remove the air handler, seal the return plenum and replace the platform, cut in the 4 new returns and run the duct work for those returns. We spoke to the owner, Wayne, he assured us that if we allowed them to work one more day they would be able to finish the job so we agreed. They had a full crew working all day. Jeremy came in around 6pm and stated that they were finished. He said the only thing left to do is to wait until Wednesday for the drywall repair guy to come fix the dry wall issues. The next morning when my brother went in the attic to take a look he discovered that the new return trunk that was replacing a 14'' undersized return trunk was replaced with a 10", the mixing boxes were reused and there was cold air leaking in the attic since they didn't tape or mastic. The supply is only carrying 1000cfm and the return 300cfm. Per the contract they were to redesign the duct work produce 1200 cfm on supply and return. We shut off our system, we didn't want to damage it by restricting it to a fraction of the unit's minimum cfm requirement. We called the owner on his cell phone no answer, we called the office and even our salesman to request that the owner contact us. When Mr. Giese called my husband back, he admitted that the crew did not finish, but were too embarrassed to tell us. They did complete it, they just didn't do it as the contract state and they hoped they would get away with it. When my husband talked to Wayne later that night he gave him yet another opportunity to come out and fulfill the terms of the contract. We stated we didn't want the original crew and we wanted him to be present for the time it took to finish the work. He had every excuse why he couldn't come. He was not willing to work with us and at the end of our conversation, before hanging up on us he said, "do not contact me again unless it's to give me your attorney's information". We have had 3 companies come out to give us estimates in what it would cost to fulfil what we contracted Hot 2 Cold to do and according to the 3 quotes all duct work installed by Hot 2 Cold needed to be replaced with a larger duct to achieve 1200cfm. We received a certified letter on 4/16/18 from an attorney by the name of Denise N Murphy, Esq located in Safety Harbor, FL. It stated she has filed a construction lien on our home behalf of Hot 2 Cold for nonpayment. We had no choice to hire an attorney to contest the lien, but our attorney did some research and found out that the lien that Mr. Giese and/or his attorney sent us was a fraudulent lien. Here we are 3 months later we have paid over 2 thousand dollars in attorneys fees and in supplies just to be able to run the system and our house still doesn't cool properly. We are still trying to get back $2658 deposit we paid him at the beginning of the job. We gave Mr Giese many chances to correctly do the job.After all of this is said and done we will still have to hire a company to come out and completely redo the job correctly. Update 7/5/18 : Based on the facts, pictures, second and third opinions that we presented to our credit card company visa agreed that Hot 2 Cold did not fulfill the contract and and made mr Giese give us our deposit back.
